@@AlexGoesSailing I have not used one for years. but we always put it clears side up. so that the sun's rays passed through the water and the black part was at the bottom, as heat rises, and all that good stuff. worth testing out in the garden to see if I am right.. or wrong :)
My first boat was a 24-ft Columbia.1968 with a full kell. And a fuel efficiency and just being able to get out and sail! I'm looking for another one. Just now finding out your channel give me a thumbs up and we'll subscribe.
Thanks Roger! If there was enough wind to sail all the way then I bet the anchorage would have been really uncomfortable with the swell! Worth it for the few hours that I needed the outboard and it definitely earned its keep!
I much agree with others, one of your best videos, thank you. A quick question on the fridge. What kind of power consumption does this draw. I just have a small cooler on my Seaward Fox 19, but like the idea of bacon sarnies and other fine fare for overnights! 😅
@@gonesailing thanks for watching and I’m glad you liked it! The compressor fridge uses 5amp for a few mins every hour so hardly anything. The thermoelectric that I had before pulled 5amp all the time and wouldn’t be that cool.
Hooray! I have been waiting for this. You’ve inspired my 9 year old too by the way. Thank you for such a lovely video (which obviously wasn’t filmed yesterday 😂)
I do very little before hand as the forecasts always change so tend to plan day by day. I do look for a weather window to do a particular trip and have a rough plan. Might make an episode dedicated to this!
@@AlexGoesSailing thanks for replying. It would be interesting to see a bit of it. I'm a newbie regarding sea sailing, I've had a bit of Theory day skipper training to be more prepared. I've Binged watch your vids, you show how I thought it could be thanks.
@@joewilliams5396 I use a combination of windy, navionics and savvy navvy. Main thing to watch for tides and currents then hope there is some wind to sail with!
Yeah, we generally call it a tuna fish sandwich in the south of the US. Up north they call it a tuna salad sandwich. You know what they say, about us being separated by a common language and all. Now I'm going to have to ask my Canadian and Kiwi friends how they eat it, and what they call it. Fortunately, my Kiwi friend lives in Australia now, and he can give me insight there. Alex how did you become so much of a handful? I see you got a comment from the Old Sea Dog. You're becoming successful. I need to remember to share your video, but for now, I need to get to bed. Take care Alex.
Why do you butter bread and put meat on it? Wouldn’t it be sensible to use mustard or other stuff instead. Being a new englander , USA I know others with that inclination but not me. K
Just found your channel. Loving your style.
Thanks for watching! Been following you for a while and love the wild adventure that you are on. Hopefully I see you out on the water!
Just how I remember Lulworth Cove :) All those years ago
Great spot for a swim too!
Another brilliant video Alex....really enjoyed it.....
Thanks for watching!
Cruising under sail at its purest level; love your style. But best of all, capturing on video my early experiences of 35yrs ago; thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lulworth Cove is absolutely amazing, i loved being on the hook there! Keep it up.
Thank you! Will do!
Nice sail to a lovely place. Getting in some miles and your boat is really working for you. Andy UK
Thank Andy! Meraki is doing great 😁
Epic video and gorgeous scenery.
I’m a Canadian and grew up visiting family in your area and love it. I could see myself retiring and doing what you’re doing.
You should do it! It’s heaps of fun and you are in a great location for it!
one of your best videos that one, boats looking good well organised ,just the ham thing turned my stomach that shit will kill you 😂😂
Thank you!!!
'champagne sailing'....absolutely.
Thank you for showing us Lulworth Cove. I was there in about 1967. As I have lived in Australia for fifty years it is a treat to see it again
Wonder how much the coastline has changed since then🤔. Thanks for watching!
Really enjoyed your trip.
Great video editing and soundtrack.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Stumbled across your channel, I like your style also. Safe Sailing regards Simon,
Glad you like it and thanks for watching!
Great video. I enjoyed it being a bit longer as well.
Cheers!
Thanks great film
Going to all my favourite places, such a beautiful coastline. Cracking video Alex 👏🏴☠️⛵
Glad you enjoyed it!
have you tried putting the solar shower bag, clear side up
it will heat up quicker and get hotter :)
Instructions say black side up so have always done it that way. Will try it the other way and see if it’s any faster!

Thanks Michael!
Nice adventure video, thanks.
Hi Alex, Best video. you look like you are having the best time on Meraki Your sailing encourages me to go sailing soon Many thanks.
Thanks Jeff! Sailing on Meraki is great fun and hopefully you get out on the water soon!

Excellent episode with real sailing that we all can 'sympathise' with (the use of the outboard!). Looking forward to the return trip. Thank you.

Nice❤ day on the water!
Great sailing and great shots. Drone footage of the anchorage was amazing 👏
Thanks Adam!
Great video.
So good, can’t wait for summer ❤
I’m excited for the summer too!
Thanks Alex, awesome spot for sailing and British geology! Much enjoying the sailing. All the best from across the pond! 😊

Alex always has nice meals on his adventures
He is definitely not Muslim!
Love your vids.
I got a kelt 620 and its a similar size to yours.
Lovely boat the kelt 620!
Nice!
Nice sail. 👍👍
Cheers!
Chapmans Pool is a beautiful spot, I have been paragliding there but not managed to anchor there yet. Hope you had more wind for the way home.
That would be so cool flying about there! It’s definitely quite stunning!
Lulworth can be brilliant but it can be grim if the catabatic winds start up.
Thx u
Alex good videos. what editing software do you use?
Resolve 18!
Up together boat see you in the Banks!?
How much chart work & passage planning do you do? Do have a link showing you doing this?

Nice video Alex, but ham with butter? Ham goes with cheese, maybe y'all don't have American cheese though. Take care.
Probably a British thing but we also do ham and cheese. I prefer tuna, sweetcorn and mayo for a sandwich. Thanks for following along Chuck!
@@AlexGoesSailing sweet corn in tuna salad? And y'all call yourselves civilized?😂😂😂😂😂 Be good Alex, see you next episode.
@@chuckrobinson599 not a salad but a sandwich filling 🤤
