Exactly. I love Noel and Liam in interviews. They are still, sardonic, witty and give great soundbites but Noel's constant digs at Thom and Radiohead are silly. They are leagues above his redundant one-note musicality. He does have a massive ego. Thinking he's up there with the very best is incredible. Oasis had one great(ish) album. It was joyous, loud, fun and euphoric at the time their great(ish) debut but apart from some good singles in the years following their music was just big and not necessarily great. The masses love oasis more than The Stone Roses but The Stone Roses made an album that Gallagher could only dream of making. As for the list he thinks he belongs to..he doesn't. He puts it like there's The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, The Smiths,The Stone Roses and Oasis. He's wrong. Suede (from that era) should follow TSR not Oasis. And Thom Yorke has more creativity than Lydon, Morrissey,Marr,, Squire,Brown, Anderson,Butler. Gallagher has about as much creativity as Simon Cowell. Oasis were a Candy Flip who got very lucky.
Did he say hes better than Radiohead? I just heard him say he writes from a different place (the question was about tension in his life) with his usual sarcastic humor.
also thom is a normal human being, noel and liam are 2 fucking idiots who copied every beatles formula and ideas, somehow got famous and act as if they invented a wheel by release 2 albums that sound the same
it is good to be sad, it is part of you, but you must also understand that sadness, where that sadness comes from, that is part of what Radiohead transmits.
@@lucashernandez4345maybe in the public eye, radiohead doesn’t compete against other artists much in terms of popularity or reach, although other artists compete with radiohead in terms of critical acclaim, and in that regard radiohead might be top 5 oat unlike the strokes or nirvana, oasis, blur, etc. Those bands were more popular than radiohead but never got remotely close to their level of musical quality, that’s the reason everybody hates the radioheads lol. Tbh i hve more angst than happiness. And therefore I say okay let me write an angsty song, it outta be easy. But it is notttttt, all the angst doesnt let me think straight. I believe that i could put it all on paper, but i just cant. It really is difficult. Once i wrote a happier song and it actually is easier. I believe Noel is right, happiness is easier to write about because it is something that none of us can ever really achieve. But like he said, theres already too much sadness. We gotta write about the hopeful and happy things.
He's contradicting himself, besides ignoring the twisted, uneasy, dark nature and background of many of the greatest works of all kinds of art, of all times (the highest forms); maybe he's unconsciously stating that his creations belong to the mediocre category in every sense...
Noel is a gifted songwriter and I enjoy listening to him speak but I've heard him dismiss "sad music" with the same argument a number of times - i.e. because supposedly there is enough sadness in the world already. What he doesn't seem to understand is that sad music doesn't create sadness, it cures it. By listening to a sad song, a sad person can process and heal, and experience catharsis. There's actually a whole movie about how stupid it is to dismiss sadness that way, and how important sadness really is in a well-rounded and healthy psyche - it's called 'Inside Out', by Pixar.
Because he doesn't understand art. He wants Rock to go back to Before it became a viable art form. He also written sad songs. "Do you keep the receipts, to the friends that you buy" And I hope you know, that it don't let go"
Noel says a lot of nonsense in interviews. He writes loads of sad songs, whole albums even. He also says in interviews that his lyrics don't mean anything, which is obviously untrue. He just doesn't like explaining them because it's too personal I guess.
@@sailorviolet92 that's my feeling too - He's a very sensitive person who writes as a kind of therapy to help him process the emotional experiences of his life but insists on presenting a tough exterior and denying that's what's happening, because he's a product of his environment and men of his generation from a working class council estate in Manchester typically weren't encouraged to express emotion.
@@sailorviolet92Yeah, he basically comes across as a miserable no it all prick with nothing good to say about most people. Thom Yorke is far more optimistic and intelligent. His attitude puts me off liking their music more.
@@silasgrace4225 I'm not sure if you can compare those two, they are very different. But if that's your preference, then that's your preference. I like both. But I'm more into Radiohead's theme than Oasis's. If you like Noel's theme better then Noel's better for you. Simple as that.
There’s loads of singer/songwriters like Noel Gallagher around. Not so many singer/songwriters like Thom Yorke who is a genius. Noel’s songs are mostly simple, whereas Thom’s are incredibly unique & beautiful
People don't compose music to add more "bullshit" to the world. People compose music to express feelings, and not only necessarily when we are happy. That's what art is about.
well i like Oasis, but in terms of music Thom Yorke/Radiohead is superior to Noel/Oasis in every way possible (including song writing) - that beeing said, his joke was still funny and i had good laugh.
no x42 nope, literally a fact. Radiohead are more skilled in musical notation and melodies. As a huge fan of both, Noel mostly finds a catchy chord and works from there, but no technical skills in song writing, just whatever he finds catchy. While Radiohead meticulously try to find melodies that work with the guitars and use more instruments to help the overall harmonics of the sound. So TL:DR, Noel pulls shit out his ass and Radiohead knows what they're doing
CesAR and what non arbitrary objective criteria did you use to come to that conclusion? It’s fucking ridiculous to assume he just writes whatever he finds catchy, absolutely no basis to that whatsoever. You have no evidence to suggest that Noel doesn’t know what he’s doing. Feel free to prove me wrong. Obviously Radiohead are more technically skilled but how do you come to that conclusion regarding melody? Pretty fucking sure Noel always looks to see what melodies fit with the chords he writes. By the way I’m not looking to hate on Radiohead. Oasis and Radiohead are both some of my favourite bands and ok computer is one of my all time favourite albums. TLDR; you have no clue what you’re talking about.
What I find the most interesting about Radiohead is their ability to put their feelings into music and they just catch the whole vibe so beautifully. They have their brilliant frontman,Thom, but also their hidden ace, which is Jonny. I think Jonny's interest in orchestral music has taken the band in very interesting directions many times. Every member works superbly in their own way. Oasis is a great band, really, but not as good. I find that they come of a bit as a one-trick-pony at times. They wrote great rock music but a lot of what they wrote sounded kinda similar. I like Radiohead better because they have more of a variety in sounds compared to Oasis, solo and band-wise.
@@ceezer.mp4 being more skilled does not mean being superior, you moron. with that logic, Ramones would be just rubbish because they are so "simple and catchy"..
I cringe listening to Noel now. Used to love him when I was younger. He just seems so nasty and angry all of the time. I used to love Radiohead and Oasis equally back in the day, now I have grown up it's Thom Yorke all day long.
I think we shouldn't take what both Liam and Noel say too seriously, as they just thoughtlessly speak their mind at all times. Noel seems to really dislike Thom, and I think he just hates how popular Radiohead has gotten from doing something he can't do, and how much love they have recieved for it. That's what I think at least.
@@austintexas9440 come of it. It isn't even close. If you would care to give examples. The only one that i could think people might say is that Oasis were more accessible and poppy than Radiohead. That is it and to me that isn't neccesarily a good thing but each to their own.
@@michaelcarr3924 Leroy Carter Oasis makes you feel badass and pumped up, whereas Radiohead makes you contemplate life. In essence each band is better at conveying different emotions. No album instantly lifts my mood like Definitely Maybe. Whenever I need a rush of adrenaline, or a feeling of youthfulness in life, Definitely Maybe has it all - every song is just a banger! No nonsense, just really great songs with massive hooks and a massive wall of sound. And that’s what Oasis is all about to me - no nonsense, just pure good music. In this regard(imo), Noel Gallagher’s song writing sense is superior to that of the Radiohead. He has an ear for what sounds good, and knows how to place everything into a very, very satistfying song structure. Radiohead is less straight-forward, and more contemplative. They make you feel at ease with your feelings of alienation, and twist your mind with different textures of sound. No album comforts feelings of alienation better than OK Computer. The whole album is an introspective head trip. They are my two favourite bands for this very reason - they resonate with different parts of me, and the key message of both bands is to “be yourself”. Oasis says, “You gotta Roll With It. Don’t let any fucker get in your way.” with a total “fuck off” attitude, and Radiohead says “The best you can is good enough..”. It’s hard to explain, but what I’m saying is these bands both have their place within different emotional states that I commonly find myself caught in. Of course, Radiohead is much more technically nuanced, but I don’t view music as a battle of complexity. It all comes down to what sounds good. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, hope that helped.
@@austintexas9440 fair play, I see your point and I do like some oasis stuff, Masterplan and Don't look back in anger, little by little and the importance of being idle spring to mind. But, I listen to way, way more Radiohead. Horses for courses, I guess.
I grew up with and enjoy both bands. I think Noel is hilarious and I don’t think he seriously thinks he’s on the same planet as Thom. It’s just a funny joke. While Radiohead may not be Noel’s cup of tea I think there is deep respect. Oasis has some amazing songs but as musicians cannot hold a candle to what Radiohead can do live. Objectively comparing more modern releases of Noel’s with something like Anima...I mean if you enjoy Noel’s music more that’s perfectly alright. But they are worlds apart in terms of writing and execution. I think Noel is just having some fun and playing up the glum Radiohead cliche. There probably is a dash of jealousy in there. I’ve literally never heard a Radiohead member even acknowledge oasis as a band. They are busy talking about people who they admire positively.
A moment of silence for those who think writing a memorable catchy song ( which you can hum and chant anytime) is much easier than arranging electronic beats, scanty guitar and unusual time signatures with apocalyptic lyrics. These are the folks who want to bundle music and theoretical intellect in the same stack.
I always looked at Thom Yorke and Noel Gallagher the greatest songwriters of their generation. They're like two sides of the same coin. Love both writers, but Radiohead are very hopeful too they're just seen thru this one-dimensional perspective or stigma but someone has to write music to counteract the happy times who sad times, we all feel these emotions. If you listen to songs like "Let Down," or something anthemic like "Karma Police," to something dance like "Idioteque," is all quite diverse and eclectic. This showdown between two geniuses is ridiculous but it will always continue because they're so diverse yet so much the same. Love both bands regardless.
Great said. Just want to add the fact that Yorke's songwriting is not always from sadness and angst, there are many brilliant songs about love and crazy situations with a great beat (Jigsaw falling into place, I might be wrong, Atoms for peace w/his band with Flea's RHCP, just to give some examples).
Massive Noel fan,but he has written songs due to tension in the band Example - 'Talk tonight' was written when he briefly left the band when touring the US.So that song was written through the tension of what happened. When he bailed and went to San Francisco to see a bird for a week.
He speaks very often without thinking, hence why I believe he contradicts himself. He says what he thinks and feels in the moment and by the tone of his voice, you can tell that he thinks it's fact.
You can pick any one Oasis album and not listen to the rest and you’ve pretty much heard everything Oasis are/were. With Radiohead every album has its own unique feel and flavour and if you were to only listen to one album you would be missing a lot of what the band are. Oasis reuse/regurgitate a lot of the same ideas and structures to make their music where Radiohead adapt and change without losing what makes them them.
@@riquiffer surely it has to be somewhat true, even just a little bit? you’re basically saying you have to dig through all the familiar tracks to find some sort of obscure b-side. Like the musical bit they did for the movie Snatch for example. I was purely talking about their albums that have been put out over the years which are all very similar for the most part. Oasis is easy listening and they don’t push the boat far out is all I’m saying. Noel just needs to refrain from talking like he’s mr unique when he’s going to be referencing others who are worlds apart when it comes to songwriting lyrically and musically.
@@mysportsroundup5387 I don‘t think that‘s quite right to be honest like I think what you mean is that Oasis albums (moreso the 90s ones) had that signature Oasis sound with the guitar wall of noise the max volume compressed to shit mixing and whatnot that is immediately recognisable unlike Radiohead or Blur who switch it up on almost every album. When you hear a Radiohead song you recognize it cause you know it‘s Radiohead but Oasis you recognize because they got that signature Oasis sound kinda like how you only need 3 seconds to recognize ACDC. And while that is true for most Oasis albums the other guy is still right that once you dig below the surface and have a few listens you will recognize each album as something unique especially when you factor in the context of when it made, it kinda all falls into place. Definitely Maybe: an almost punk-ish album about living life to the fullest despite everything being kinda rubbish Morning Glory: more of a pop album with songs about love and self-reflection Be Here Now: it’s Oasis on cocaine (literally). Bigger, louder, longer, more guitars, more compression. Setting the ship on fire they were riding high on. Standing in the Shoulders of Giants: A more toned down hangover album literally singing about grtting clean and experimenting with synths and psychadelia. Heathen Chemistry: not much to say, honestly kinda bland lol Don‘t believe the truth: more of a singer song writer album experimenting with different rythms and song structures Dig Out Your Souls: back to rock‘n roll with a noticeable groove to it. More up-tempo and focusing on themes of religious armageddon. So yeah Oasis albums are not as immediately apparently different like Radiohead but each album manages to still be a unique listen while also being unmistakable Oasis. I invite you to have another listen if you like
@@geekmac9349I have, everything after WTSMG is more or less a waste of a time. Heard it all before. Whereas for Radiohead, I just watched Rick Beato go through each of their albums and I was transported to various different eras of my life and it inspired me to listen to every single album again in order. They are geniuses. Oasis is pub rock. Good pub rock. Great to sing along to on a drunken night out after the football. But basically pub rock.
He’s mentioned Radiohead a few times over the years. I think he might be jealous of Radiohead’s success in the USA. (Last 6 albums gone top 3 and have numerous Grammy awards).
Oasis were more succesful than Radiohead world wide, and Thom yorke has mentioned Oasis just as many times. More record sales, bigger crowds, higher chart positions, Oasis wins on most counts if you want to look at it from a popularity stand point. Creatively, Thom Yorke is far more accomplished however though I don't think his melodies are as good as Noel's
@@shaunthecatlover Granted, a pop band but what about Abba? Would you say they broke America? Oasis scored over 4 millions sales with Morning Glory which is more than any Radiohead record - they did alright for a band that supposedly failed to ‘break America’. I’m not saying Oasis beat out Radiohead in America, they didn’t, but they certainly do in most other places like Japan, South America, Europe and the UK. They also trounce Radiohead from a singles standpoint - they even have a top 10 single in the US where Radiohead does not. I take your point about almost every major rock band breaking the USA, however, just because you’ve broken America, doesn’t make you a worldwide success. People make the same argument about Robbie Williams, saying he did better in the UK and Germany than Oasis yet he didn’t make a scratch in Asia and north or south America. Doing really well in a few markets doesn’t make you world wide. My argument is simply that Oasis is bigger world wide, regardless of average success in the USA
Depends on your preference. If you like joyous, simple rock and roll, Oasis are your band. If you like challenging, innovative, yet tuneful rock and roll, it's Radiohead. I loved the first Oasis album. It was a kind of Rolling Stones for the 90's kids but for sheer longevity and creativity, Radiohead shits on Oasis from a great height.
Thom Yorke is an excellent song writer, there is power in the humanitarian observations in his lyrics, which Noel Gallagher's song lack, in my humble opinion and his songs are the poorer for it. He talks of there being to much angst in the world, may be so. However, that emotional and political angst which is the reality of humanity, has brought us music by The Smith's, Morrissey, The Jam, Nirvana, The Clash, The Pistols, Bowie to name just a few. I'll take their angst inspired music with a message over Noel's meaningless lyrics anytime. Oddly, Noel also contradicts himself by slating "angst" inspired music when he claims to be a big fan of The Smith's, Nirvana and Morrissey, the greatest exponents of "angst" lyrics and music, arguably, in the history of music. As normal, Noel seems to have nothing to say and is saying it to loudly.
each to their own i suppose. and i can see why you like thoms songwriting for that reason. personally i like songs that make me want to go crazy as fuck. they don't need to mean anything, if they make me want to rock it's great. oasis first 3 albums have moments that are just raw, grab you by the throat and don't let go. radiohead have fewer like that. "i am the walrus" means nothing in particular but it's a masterpiece. music is an escape. there's lots of us who don't want to listen to songs about war or political conflict. music is my time to escape and leave the world behind for an hour
I feel that Thom Yorke is trying hard to be something where as Noel just did what came to him naturally, so while radiohead is more cerebral, Oasis always had more heart. Both are needed in the world and we are better for them.
Gracias Chema. Yo entiendo el inglés perfectamente, y me da gusto que tengas el tiempo para subtitular esto. Le haces el favor a mucha otra gente, de poder disfrutar las entrevistas.
Noel used to be very into radiohead back in the 90s........then Radiohead got big and became the British band that swept america, Noel always wanted it to be Oasis. I think he has been bitter ever since. Never seems to go through an interview without mentioning Thom Yorke.
It’s funny how he thinks writing about the news is depressing when his musical hero’s The Beatles took sad lyrics literally out of a newspaper about a fella who died in a car crash in a day in a life I love oasis but thom yorke and Radiohead are light years ahead musically than oasis
Noel Gallagher confessed to liking The Bends best of all: “I do like The Bends,” he said. “I remember buying it when it came out, actually. I remember ‘Fake Plastic Trees’ fucking blowing me away when I heard it. I was in the middle of writing songs like ‘Champagne Supernova’ and ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger,’ and it had the same kind of thing, d’you know what I mean? So it felt familiar already.” “It’s just a great song. I only wish they’d write more songs like it,” Gallagher added. “Oh, they’ve done loads of great stuff. What’s it called, ‘Karma Police’ is great. I’m not too familiar with the titles of them. Listen, they’re a fucking good band with a good singer. I’ve seen them, they’re fucking brilliant live.” Gallagher went on to heap praise on Radiohead guitarist and now-celebrated film composer Jonny Greenwood. “Jonny Greenwood is one of my favourite ever musicians. I think he’s a genius,” Noel said. “The last time I saw them, at Coachella, I had a physical reaction to them where I couldn’t be in the same fucking field while it was on.”
It becomes a wierd insult with zero sense made. he so far from thom yorkes level he's oblivious so to say his songwriting has more to it is just a very dumb trumpish thing to say..
Yeah, Noel is not in Thom Yorkes level at all. He just sold 75 million albums worldwide, sold out knebworth, and Wembley multiple times....... His songs are really shit though.......
colly beans all you Radiohead fans always say the same things over and over without any evidence, just your opinion. At the end of the day I know I’d rather listen to Liam belt out Noel’s song than any of that soppy shit Radiohead make
He did imply that Thom only writes about angst, and then he said "it's very easy to write angst". Considering how much more skilled Thom is than Noel at writing, its abit of a pointless jibe to discredit someone who's universally known to be better than you. I'm fans of both and I'm aware Noel is semi messing around but I think it comes across more disrespectful than light hearted. Anyway, I don't rly care that much, they both make good music.

lol, that’s tells a lot. Every musician knows that sad music is always the best and deepest. And for a writer it’s a struggle to write down those emotions. It’s easy to rip Thom Yorke (who’s a great songwriter and probably more substantial than Noel in my opinion) but at the heart of creativity is vulnerability and I think that’s something Noel’s always struggled with in songwriting to be honest, the most moving haunting songs are born of vulnerability in my opinion and I think it might be a bit of a weakness as a creator not to be able to go to them places. That being said Noel’s been hugely successful in his own right and has certainly been able to translate his creative flow into music that’s been of great effect to a lot of people 👍
Noel's extremely vulnerable in his lyrics, but he doesn't directly tell stories like other songwriters. The way I've described it is like impressionism. He also doesn't like being vulnerable outside of songwriting, so he jokes in interviews to avoid talking about his songs' meanings.
I couldn’t write a happy song if someone put a gun to my head. What the hell do you write about? Watching Netflix and eating a hamburger? Making music is therapy for me so I don’t get the concept of writing happy lyrics. Maybe I could but I don’t see the point. But I’m glad others can. Sometimes I want to listen to happy party music. I just don’t know how to do it. It’s not a contest either. There’s room in this world for Thom Yorke AND Noel. Variety is the spice of life!
I like Radiohead. They are a great band. I liked Oasis and Blur. I do not know why they need to be so angry with each other. Radiohead were cool. There songs were deep and meaningful.
I think people are digging to deep about Noel’s comment about Tom. Noel just meant he doesn’t necessarily write about sad things that are happening in the world. It was just a quick witty comment about Tom. And maybe the seriousness of his song writing. No harm intended. Noel really respects Tom and Radiohead. He knows he’s technically a far better musician than him. Noel and Liam both give great interviews theses days. Love or hate them. At least there honest
I’m 100% team Noel and I’m saying that as someone who enjoys listening to Radiohead but what he says is true, it’s too easy on the modern world to write songs about depression, angst and misery. Writing songs about optimism and hope in spite of the shit life gives you is actually really fucking hard you know how I know that? Because nobody else does it.
which is totally fine, but Noel is saying that writing sad music is easy and boring. It's cool if he wants to write happy stuff, but he just ignorantly insults others for no reason other than jealousy
All the mad fanboys in the comments writing essays about Gallagher's fallacies and shit are hilarious. He made a joke y'all, lighten up and stop taking everything so seriously Yorke has even said himself he gets a lot of his lyrical ideas from the news and such lol, why is everybody so angry?
I dunno, maybe part of it has to do with Noel's condescending prick like attitude in the way he said it, maybe that could be it or something. And also the fact that Thom Yorke uses the news as a way to know what's going on in the world around him and how that could possibly affect him on a personal level as well as other people, so just describing it as writing about the news in a dismissing tone is kinda stupid.
@@linkinpark4everize Noel is running out of ideas and running out of gas. He can't just make a living writing the same song over and over. He knows this. He and his brother Liam. I hope Noel reads some of these comments as he may learn something. I saw him live with the high flying birds and was bored. Saw Radiohead who blew me away. Their songs are written on a different level. Noel and Thom are completely different genres of music. He should respect other musicians instead of criticising them. Think it shows he's jealous of them and intimidated by their music. As it's so deep and his music is very shallow. Not everyone understands radiohead butvthats because they are art in music and not just a commodity.
I saw Radiohead live once, they were great but the crowd were mostly fucking boring. I like to experience the crowd having fun, not just listening. well i mean, all Radiohead songs were not in happy tune like oasis did, so thats not really strange if the audience is kinda boring, because radiohead song were going to art direction meanwhile oasis go to entertainment direction, and both are great. But if you ask which is are better in music contribution, i will say Radiohead, i mean look at Ok Computer and Kid A, these albums were game changer for rock music industry

No band has changed the rock n roll game since the Beatles took it to America. I don’t like Radiohead at all but I see what they’ve tried but rock n roll wise wise they’re not very good
My opinion has always been that Radiohead is to millennial/late Gen X rock fans what Pink Floyd was to Gen X/late Boomer rock fans. They both make artsy, almost prog rock. Making music for them is very much an artistic (some would say spiritual) pursuit. Noel Gallagher, especially when he was leading Oasis, was pretty much on the opposite end of the spectrum. As Noel stated on many occasions, he hates the idea of music as an artistic pursuit. Essentially he’s a music fan who developed a knack for making catchy melodic pop rock. As journalist John Robb described them, Oasis was the sound of every great mode of British pop rolled into one. I have tons of respect for Radiohead, but I’m taking Oasis and Noel Gallagher for my listening pleasure every day of the week
I'd rather go for a pint with Noel as well, and I far prefer Radiohead to Oasis. Noel always comes across as a nice and friendly guy in interviews. Yorke, famously, can be a bit of a dick.

"Do you keep the receipts, to the friends that you buy"
And I hope you know, that it don't let go"
Noel says a lot of nonsense in interviews.

That’s subjective
no x42 nope, literally a fact.

What I find the most interesting about Radiohead is their ability to put their feelings into music and they just catch the whole vibe so beautifully.

Massive Noel fan,but he has written songs due to tension in the band

Definitely Maybe: an almost punk-ish album about living life to the fullest despite everything being kinda rubbish
Morning Glory: more of a pop album with songs about love and self-reflection
Be Here Now: it’s Oasis on cocaine (literally). Bigger, louder, longer, more guitars, more compression. Setting the ship on fire they were riding high on.
Standing in the Shoulders of Giants: A more toned down hangover album literally singing about grtting clean and experimenting with synths and psychadelia.
Heathen Chemistry: not much to say, honestly kinda bland lol
Don‘t believe the truth: more of a singer song writer album experimenting with different rythms and song structures
Dig Out Your Souls: back to rock‘n roll with a noticeable groove to it. More up-tempo and focusing on themes of religious armageddon.
So yeah Oasis albums are not as immediately apparently different like Radiohead but each album manages to still be a unique listen while also being unmistakable Oasis. I invite you to have another listen if you like

I like Radiohead. They are a great band. I liked Oasis and Blur. I do not know why they need to be so angry with each other. Radiohead were cool. There songs were deep and meaningful.
you can't compare the songs thom yorke writes to the songs noel writes they're completely different
Yes. Thom Yorkes are good.
Es increíble este tío cuando habré la boca🙊 lo amo😅
Can you imagine if Dylan or Lennon just ignored the problems of their time
Lennon probably would have written better music if he did
Noel is a better comedian than Thom Yorke
Este señor hace buenas canciones, Radiohead hace obras de arte
Imagine how dull the world would be if everyone wrote one dimensional songs like Noel Gallagher. Quoasis.
I'm so similar songwriting wise I fully relate to what he said
which is totally fine, but Noel is saying that writing sad music is easy and boring. It's cool if he wants to write happy stuff, but he just ignorantly insults others for no reason other than jealousy
All the mad fanboys in the comments writing essays about Gallagher's fallacies and shit are hilarious. He made a joke y'all, lighten up and stop taking everything so seriously
Yorke has even said himself he gets a lot of his lyrical ideas from the news and such lol, why is everybody so angry?
I dunno, maybe part of it has to do with Noel's condescending prick like attitude in the way he said it, maybe that could be it or something. And also the fact that Thom Yorke uses the news as a way to know what's going on in the world around him and how that could possibly affect him on a personal level as well as other people, so just describing it as writing about the news in a dismissing tone is kinda stupid.
Lol true, it's gay as FK I read the comments first, waiting for this big bombshell from Noel and it was just a joke lol
@@linkinpark4everize Noel is running out of ideas and running out of gas. He can't just make a living writing the same song over and over. He knows this. He and his brother Liam. The two of them can't even get along. Radiohead is a band of brothers. If one person leaves, the band does not exist anymore.
Este hombre cada vez se pone más sexy 😁😍😙💕
Olivia Lopez Perez no lo voy a negar se ve muy bien. 😗
What's funnier. His throwaway comment - or Radiohead fanboys dogpiling on it?
Fanboys. Very very gay
@@natmanprime4295 you have U2 in your playlist. i tihnk youre looking for gay friends dude
@@ImotekhtheStormlord-tx2it hmm... logic doesn't follow. Appropriate that you spelt "think" wrongly. Anyway u2 are an amazing band, and I have the best playlist in the world. Hate their politics tho
I’ve never seen Thom speak of a Oasis. But have seen Liam and Noel speak of Thom throughout the years
Noel wishes he was Thom Yorke.
Wesley771000 he definitely doesn’t
@@ryanzf1998 I believe he envies Thom's ease when it comes to writing angst, wishing he could do the same. I think he finds the love Thom gets isn't right, because he clearly thinks he's better.
Little Darling I don’t think noel
Gallagher is jealous about writing angsty songs. It’s noel gallagher we are talking about. Why would he wanna write about doom and gloom ??
@@ryanzf1998 Idk, sometimes jealousy and insecurity masks itself with confidence and borderline arrogance, which is what I see in Noel. He talks about them a little too much to consider him just disliking Thom
@@SoftTangerineDreams maybe maybe, i just can't see noel gallagher sat listening to radiohead in his free time hahaha.
I mean, he turned the Beatles catalogue into at least five decent songs of his own. Gotta give him that. Thom is from a different tier altogether though.
When people stop listening to sad music we’ve truly lost hope.
But why Noel ?
Brit rock and Art Rock are two big differences
If you want to discover something uninspiring and sterile listen to Noel’s last 43 albums.
He couldn't lace Thoms boots
Wrong. Noel is amazing.
was.
@@danlockhart5875 yes sure he is but radiohead and oasis are light years apart.
@@MrShahid0072 yer 24 half million copes , morning glory apart
Lol the art school cat should lick Noel’s
I hope Noel reads some of these comments as he may learn something. I saw him live with the high flying birds and was bored. Saw Radiohead who blew me away. Their songs are written on a different level. Noel and Thom are completely different genres of music. He should respect other musicians instead of criticising them. Think it shows he's jealous of them and intimidated by their music. As it's so deep and his music is very shallow. Not everyone understands radiohead butvthats because they are art in music and not just a commodity.
This dude has never written a song as good as some of Radiohead’s b-sides. Keep Thom Yorke’s name out of your mouth.
I saw Radiohead live once, they were great but the crowd were mostly fucking boring. I like to experience the crowd having fun, not just listening.
I saw Oasis live once, the crowd were mostly great, but the band was fucking boring. I like to see musicians really living the music, bouncing off each other on stage, not just posing.
Ok Computer is a masterpiece I'd go back to listen too, I doubt I'll be dusting off my Oasis records any time soon.
well i mean, all Radiohead songs were not in happy tune like oasis did, so thats not really strange if the audience is kinda boring, because radiohead song were going to art direction meanwhile oasis go to entertainment direction, and both are great. But if you ask which is are better in music contribution, i will say Radiohead, i mean look at Ok Computer and Kid A, these albums were game changer for rock music industry
stuckman Stuckman i sweat you might be the only person with sense in this comment section except for the game changing bit. No band has changed the rock n roll game since the Beatles took it to America. I don’t like Radiohead at all but I see what they’ve tried but rock n roll wise wise they’re not very good
Yeah, he was joking and he's not envy AT ALL of Thom Yorke...
I'm amazed that people still take this mans music and opinions seriously.
Musicalmente me quedo con Radiohead.... Son una genialidad. En cambio noel es pura envidia.
People shouldn't take Noel too seriously. He says half of this stuff just to get a reaction out of people. He's a massive Morrissey fan, for example.
Americans don't get british humour
Mad For it
No one asked him something about tom, yet he talks about him
Lol imagine if noel heard that wonderwall parody Radiohead made
"Thom you knew about Noel Gallagher saying this stuff about you in an interview the other day?"
Thom: who?
Luis Oliva that art school nerd always acts smart silly cat
JAJSJSJSJA XD
Oasis is the Rolling Stones to Radiohead's Beatles...and Blur is Eric Burden maybe? 😅
oasis were like were yeh man great feel good rock tune, then you got you serious and listened to radiohead on your own that spoke to your soul
You have to laugh at all the diehard radiohead fans acting as if Noel just shot a family member or something. It isn't that deep folks
Lol the fact that noel thinks oasis is even in the same universe as radiohead is baffling
Noel officially has an obsession problem with Thom Yorke, he should look into this issue further
Noel finds it very easy to write beige music.
what he said about the documentary is true supersonic is the best muc=sic doc ever made and thats not just due to it been about oasis .. its just a million miles above anything else made
😂
Radiohead are so much better is so many ways but I loved his comment!
if everybody wrote songs only being in a good mood, we would live in the AQUA - Barbie girl song
I'm happy most of the time, it just makes me sad to know that Radiohead is the greatest band since The Beatles - Noel Gallagher
So much butthurt over Noel’s Thom Yorke joke! Cheer up! I know who I’d rather go for a pint with.
I'd totally go with Thom. Comes off as more interesting to me. Noel and Liam are great but so outspoken. Want to know what the hell is going on inside Thom's head as he doesn't say too much.
Damn right!! Sit in a pub with Noel talking about the crazy, awesome 90s or Sit in a vegan cafe with Thom talking about third world poverty!
And I know who’s music I’d rather listen too
To*
I'd rather go for a pint with Noel as well, and I far prefer Radiohead to Oasis. Noel always comes across as a nice and friendly guy in interviews. Yorke, famously, can be a bit of a dick.
Noel is so jealous of Thom and Radiohead because he never got the artistic acclaim they did, because he doesn't have their ambitious or talent
Love Radiohead and Love Oasis too. Both great bands. You can like both, fanboys!!!
Radiohead fans are like K-pop stands these days😂
Not really. Noel is pretty clearly wrong here, and he always makes it too easy to criticise him.
Tom York is now bigger than Noel in America lol
The envy and resentment towards Noel in the comments is proof that people are committed to be insufferable till the end of times...
I never get sad..well he probably doesnt does he..lives in a fuckin fantasy world..
For those who thinks Noel despises Radiohead:
faroutmagazine.co.uk/noel-gallagher-favourite-radiohead-song/
lol why is this doofus always so obsessed with Thom and Radiohead? It's laughable because he brought Thom up out of nowhere when the person who asked the question didn't. What's also funny is that Thom Yorke and co. hasn't mentioned him or anything he's associated with, especially that hasbeen band he came from, in ages. Radiohead probably hasn't even thought about an Oasis since the 90s 😅
Huge radiohead fan..and don't even like oasis that much. They do have some good songs though. But radiohead did mock oasis with a parody of wonderwall. Check it out on UA-cam.
@@MrShahid0072 yes waay back in the day lol they haven't mentioned or referenced them since the mid-90s and even then they didn't worry about them much.
Lol except in the Radiohead website silly art school cat
Akshit so shut up hippie
What documentary is the guy asking about?
Noel's the Boss!!!
I can't be the only person here who just doesn't understand people calling Thom Yorke a genius??? Definitely very good but genius is pushing it imo
Well you're definitely wrong. Thom Yorke is a genius.
Noel you're talented, but you're not Thom Yorke talented mate. That's a whole different ball game.
Nobody wants to listen to music about politics there's already enough shit happening in the world we don't need that in music.
Non of Noels stuff is about politics or depression or other bullshit, they are about hope joy aspiration happiness.
As a young woman his songs inspire me have a positive outlook in life.
