That is actually called wattle, and is the national flower of Australia. You will never ever hear it referred to as mimosa here.

wattle is Acacia pycnantha, most commonly known as the golden wattle, is a tree of the family Fabaceae.
Mimosa is legume and calked touch me not. Superficial resemble to wattle. It is a shrub , flowers are yellow or mauve .
