Season 10 is now the only one I need now but if i ever get the standard ones I think it would only be if my limited edition ones start to fall apart ,great video Adam 👍🏻
I've grabbed all the standard editions, and I'm happy with them, I can live without the booklet. I just wish we didn't have to be 5 sets behind everyone else!
I have just purchased the season 10 standard edition and I am more than happy as you get the picture discs and the booklet and same cover art on front and they take up less room. I will continue to get the standard editions for all other seasons. They look really good. I am not saying I don't like the special editions .. far from it I think they are great. It's cost and space for me.
There's no direct confirmation with how long it takes but there is a rumour/theory! Using the Season 23 set as an example, the original Limited Edition set came out in Oct 2019, the Standard Edition packaging came out in Oct 2021, so the theory is that there will be a 2 year gap between the Limited and Standard releases This isn't confirmed, the test will be if Season 26 gets its standard release in Jan 2022 (2 years after the Limited came out). If it does, then my guess would be the Standard Edition of Season 17 will arrive in Dec 2023!
Great video I dont know what to buy I like the collectors editions especially the sleeve that opens , but they are expensive, I also like the standard blu Ray as they are sturdy and you get double artwork covers , don't know what ones to buy ? 🤔
Can someone please tell me if Tom Baker Season Two (Season 13 overall) is ever coming out on Blu Ray? I have Season One (1974, season 12 overall), Season Three (1976 Season 14 overall) and Season Seven (1980, Season 18 overall) on Blu Ray. It's really confusing.
Thanks my love! 😁🥰❤ the artwork on these sets is so gorgeous isn't it! One the best advantages of physical media I reckon, how we can admire such great work! 😁
I will say I don't like how they have not got the face in the inside of the cover, like with the limited edition whenever you removed the final disc from it's plastic case, showing the Doctor's face from the title sequence.
Here in Australia, I haven't seen the standard editions just yet. Either way, I think I'll stick with the limited editions as I have all of them to date.
i was just wondering, on the standard editions for seasons 12&19, did you have any issues, I.E the audio and picture being out of sync? i've had two of each of the standard s12&19 and they both have this issue.
In my opinion, totally worth it. They take up less space, are sturdier, more durable and are great value for money (especially when you remember how much those original VHS releases cost). You do miss out on a more expanded booklet, sure, but I can live with that.
I'm definitely with you on this issue. Just a bigger box and a page or two more in the limited for a couple hundred dollars more - no way! Standard even has the lovely back picture the limited doesn't. This video has saved me a lot of money/
I totally agree. I have just received my standard edition season 10 and it looks really good. The chunky blu ray box I really like as it's a perfect shelf size and sturdy. The discs all have the appropriate story pics on their covers. The booklet is just great. I don't need the expanded booklet as such. There is nothing I can find fault with or complain about. I am so pleased I have got the standard edition. The special edition boxes on places like ebay are at an expensive price. I saw one the other day and it was £150 and others are nearly £300 !!
Here is the US, we only get standard edition packaging. It is cheap and lacks effort. The discs never stay in place. I'm jealous of the collector's editions.
In the US, you don't even get standard packaging. You get a lousy product with no booklet, no slip cover, the same artwork on every disc and a strange labelling by actors rather than consistently from 1-26.
My option is these are worth more than the limited editions tbh. It's a lot more accessible and there's barely any difference to warrant the price of the limited
My answer to the title would be that they are definitely worth it but not for me These are the only two season I need to get the limited versions of and eBay is actually nice now so I’ll get them eventually
For upscaled DVD's of a series filmed on videotape, no, they most certainly are not and I laugh at anyone suckered into buying into the con the BBC has sold you as being "HD" quality.
The standard case versions of the collection are cheaper to get than if you were to purchase the seperate DVD versions of each story, plus you get even more special features and a higher quality version of each story than if you bought them individually.
Please consider giving the video a like if you enjoyed it, and subscribe to channel for more Doctor Who content!
Its like you read my mind and uploaded what I needed to know with this one, bud
Glad I could help! Does mean you're going to swap to the Standard Editions? 👀
They’re definitely worth it if you have missed any and don’t want to pay crazy eBay prices. Simple as that.
Agreed - I came late to the party and had to buy a Blu-ray machine first
The standard UK is edition is far superior to the US edition and should be the minimum standard. Still, they do not compare to the limited edition.

What is the LE Number for the Season 18 set for example? Is every LE set the same number?
I'm looking at the new Season 17 release. But I don't want mis-matching cases. Do you know how long it takes for the standard edition to be released?

@@AdamMartyn oh wow, 2 years sucks, I was hoping for 6 months. 🤣 Thanks for replying
No problem! It may end up being shorter than 2 years! It's just a theory based on what we have so far. The S26 rerelease will be the true test! 😂

I'm reading that Season Six (17 overall) is coming out next week!
Are there any special features that are on the limited but not the standard?
They all have the same features. All you're missing is the full booklet with production info
Realised as I was watching this how much I loved the artwork, but how often I take it for granted! Great video 📹🌠

You still have the TARDIS wallpaper, however, which I'd argue is a much better decision.

Standard for me, mostly for the cost. I wish they would combine all seasons by doctor in a bigger box set.
Great review!
Thanks Roger!

They never have claimed to he totally HD quality. It’s impossible with a video taped show which had hardly any scenes shot on film
these sets are worth it for the massive amount of special features and general love put into them
That's not the only reason people are buying them, you dumbo.

You're forgetting the location shots were on film which is HD.
