This is an UPDATED VERSION: Great news. I found the original sculpting video from when I recorded the sculpting of the head I used for this piece so now it is a complete video. I also found other footage I had recorded but I thought it was also lost when my old computer crashed.
In this video, I will show you how to work with paper clay. How to use it to add interest to wood, metal, or any other item, and demonstrate how I go about using it to turn random items into one-of-a-kind mixed media art. This is instruction for beginners to intermediate sculptors. In the first 7 minutes of the video, I show examples of different pieces where I used paper clay on top of pieces of wood and then show the process of making my mother earth dryad tree. This is foundational instruction, not a full tutorial on exactly how to make this specific tree but instead, I hope you walk away with ideas and a few techniques to try when creating your own unique art dolls. Mixed media is an expansive art form because you can combine nearly anything into your art and it invites new artists from many other forms of art with many different skills to mix and match materials to create amazingly unique one-of-a-kind art.
