Story one I think it’s the mother told her son to do it so force all the neighbours to $5. Then when if neighbour said no the mother says “it’s only $5”
College fund: NTJ That brother deserves to be under investigation. He ruined his own life. The #1 offense in finance is stealing from your customers, which is exactly what he did. This should result in charges against him.
Story 1: Yeah, this is a case of extortion. Don't pay them. Story 2: You have the right to raise your children how you see fit, as long as you're not subjecting them to abuse or neglect, which it doesn't sound like you are. I totally see why you're frustrated with your mother, since she's undermining the way you're trying to raise your children. Story 4: I would be tempted to write back at this point, stating "See, this is _exactly_ the sort of attitude and behavior that led to my decision. Jamie hasn't done anything that deserves this kind of treatment. Not from his parents, and certainly not from the rest of his extended family. He doesn't deserve to be derided constantly, and I want nothing to do with people who would do so. Goodbye."
Story3: She's not mega wealthy, but her family is wealthy. Comfortable is when a major sudden expense isn't a stressor, and you can afford small luxuries on a whim. Giving your child a residence that is big enough to give them an income is wealthy.
Story 1 I wouldn't pay the kid either. If he did without asking then I'm not paying. Story 2 no you know what a best for your child. Story 3 yes you can't lie to people like that but they also shouldn't have done that either. Throw em out but next time tell the people living there to pay rent. Story 4 goodness those parents are horrible. You should never favor one child over the other. Story 5 no he shouldn't have been a thief and your parents are idiots they shouldn't be defending his stealing. Story 6 seriously he's uses your wedding vows to get what he wants is scummy. It's your daughter's wedding and she says what goes.
The first story. It is a kind gesture meaning you aren't obligated to give out money, like for example a stranger helping someone get their heavy groceries to their car with the only intent being doing something nice for the person. But perhaps if the OP gave the kid a drink and a snack for his troubles then maybe all of his friends and family would be on his side. The Second story. The OP isn't the jerk for wanting to move her mom to a nursing home, the problem isn't really the happy meals but her unhealthy eating habits and kids like to copy adults so they could start picking up grandma's bad eating habits. Also I hope the OP didn't throw out the toys can come with the happy meals.
Roommate/landlord ESH, but i am far more with OP than the roommates. The roomates shouldn't live there for free, and definitely should not have opened OP's mail. That actually is illegal, and they're showing a vast amount of entitlement. However, it is lying by omission not being up front about their ownership of the property, good intentions or not, and may run into some complicated landlord/tenant laws.
I do have some empathy for the stepdad in the last story. You think that you have a good relationship with your stepchildren, and then you find out that they want nothing to do with you. It will hurt... So I understand his emotional response. This would be one of those moments, which brings dread into your mind every time you remember it. But yeah... there's nothing he can do about it. It may take years, but he'd need to accept that he isn't appreciated as he thought he was.
Wanting her mother to walk them down the aisle instead is NOT saying they want nothing to do with him. That said, his hissy fit and saying this goes against their marriage vows does say plenty about him.
on the happy meal story op was complaining about the grandma feeding the kids happy meals 3 times a week but nobody is asking why wasn't op feeding her own kids. wht was the grandma doing it? seems to me she won't feed them herself but is getting mad at the person who is feeding her kids. I;m a single mom and would never complain if i couldn't feed my kid for some reason and someone else fed them
story 6: op is just trash. she misuses her husband as atm nothing else. he is the atm for her children. this is such a sad relationship. the amount of disrespect against the husband is incredible. i wouldn't want to live in such a situation. it is ok to tell them about their dead father, but it seems after his death she glorefied him in front of her kids, removed the abillity for her atm to bond with the kids and forced the atm and kids appart. yta but it is way to late to repair anything. sadly it's in more and more families that way. as in that one and only comment "the atm is only a _Step Dad_ and nothing else" in a family where both parents are well and alive and deeply ingrained in the kids life that might be the case but here it's such a huge mountain of disrespect. atm doormat.
Story 1: the mother absolutely does know better she's just choosing to not do better. Story 2: the original poster being their landlord really isn't the roommates business. And where do they get off demanding let alone even asking that the original poster let them live there rent-free? I can safely say for a fact that it had been reversed those roommates would have been asking for rent heck they might have tried to get as much rent as they could.
Story 3 WTF? Nobody’s business who owns the house. You weren’t friends, they were roommates. And opened the mail? Kick them out. Last story the husband is a jackass. How TF is you walking your daughter down the aisle “breaking your marriage vows”? Hes just butthurt. 🚩🚩
Only seems to be three OPs not the jerk based on the information that the others cherry picked to be shared... sometimes people are just disappointing and need therapy.
Stepdad: It's the daughter's choice who walks her down the aisle. End of story. Stepdad may not have had any issues with the kids, but he certainly sounds like a big baby.
1. Don't do work without permission then expect payment. Very simple. 2. Doing work without permission also increases the chance of doing something the property owner doesn't want done. 3. I'd place high odds on the mother taking the money and the kid not seeing a cent. 4. *Knock knock* "Hey, I'm mowing lawns around the neighborhood. I charge $5. Would you like yours done?" It's not hard to ask first, which would clear everything up right then.
@@firefly4f4that's why the mother was most likely so angry. She was having the kid do the work and then pocket the money saying she was going to save for him or just giving him a tiny cut and use on herself.
You stood on principle. But you’re stood on principle with a 13-year-old. I would’ve just paid him the five dollars and told him never to come back unless He had permission
The 13yo learns to not do anything on someone else's property without permission. It's not hard to knock, introduce yourself, and ask first. Besides, the owner may have their own reasons for wanting someone else to do it. I'm completely with OP here. I mowed grass and shovelled driveways when I was younger, but always asked first because that's what my parents taught me to do.

*Story 1: Why the hell would you pay somebody for a yard care job you never asked them to do in the first place?*
Why not
Story3: She's not mega wealthy, but her family is wealthy. Comfortable is when a major sudden expense isn't a stressor, and you can afford small luxuries on a whim. Giving your child a residence that is big enough to give them an income is wealthy.
3:07: I believe you have that backwards there, narrator. This was Mom's plan, and the kid was in on it.

the fourth OP did the right thing same thing happened to my nephew as well and we did the same thing congrats on doing whats best for him
I haven't had a happy meal in around 5-6-7 MONTHS

*Hears the story: Duuuude. Shut uuuuup. What the f*** is wrong with you?!
Rent story: OP is kinda the jerk about not being upfront about it being his house. Aside from that, their roommates were jerks for their behavior
Yep
No, he wasn't. He doesn't owe them anything, especially since they weren't friends from the start.
@@ferzinhaN If I move into a house, I wanna know who the owner is, Especially, if I'm going to be living with them
Second story: bro is so messed up that he threw away some food he was kinda crashing out

I would pay with a gift of something
You dont want to pay rent then move out
Not sure what the game in the background is, but it looks really cool. Does anyone know what it is?
I think it is one of the Star Wars games.
2nd story, setting the condition of the mother, the OP needs to chill, the "omg proccessed food" crazies need to calm down.

You might be incorrect on the landlord part. In some states it's required to disclose that information.
Bad take from the narrorator on the landlord story.

Hello!
Good day
I honestly would’ve paid the kid. Just my opinion. 😅

The point is the kid didn’t ask permission to mow the grass, because what if something happens on op yard and the kid get hurt.

Nah. I'm with the narrator. He pointed out that paying the kid would possibly create a further obligation that would be more difficult to get out of.
