him and his team have already mentioned that they don’t try to make a commercially successful record, just whatever feels right and is fun. so unfortunately his self-titled album didn’t get much radio play or recognition. ‘Sign of the Times’ definitely deserved a grammy and Rolling Stones even named it #49 on the best 100 songs of the century!
however, both his albums have debuted at #1 and 'Fine Line' stayed at #1 for 2 weeks :) and since december has been in the top 20 until just recently. he is definitely something special!!

this was the show opener!!!! his entire tour! haha!! and it's soooo epic! cuz he has these lights and the energy is insane! and there's a live version that he did at the victorias secret fashion show, there's one he did for his "behind the album" where he performed all the songs off his first album at abbey road studios, there's one he performed at the bbc, and there's a bunch of fan-taken ones at his live shows that show the dope ass opening/entrance! i genuinely don't know which one would be the best, but they're definitely all really good!

As you (and others) mentioned, you're right - he did open with Only Angel and closed with Kiwi (although with a different more "growly"(?) sound from the band at start to Kiwi - I love it even more than the studio version opening).
For Only Angel, you can find fan recordings from concerts where you see the screens lift up and lights shine through like "Heaven" as the show starts. Pretty cool effect with the song - especially in person. Doesn't always translate well through the phone recording. This is one of my favorites, too!

Only Angel was the show opener so there's a lot of videos of Harry performing it. He also performed it at the Victoria Secret Show 😉
I wrote on a previous vide that i wasn't a fan of one direction, but his music is so so so good that i ended like a crazy fan 😂 his music great and i respect him a lot as a song writer, as a musician, as a singer.

It made me so excited watching how excited you got by listening to this song. I can still remember the first time I heard it, and I was totally blown away. To me it's simply a perfect song, and I love, love, love the style! He's such an incredible artist. And you're spot on when it comes to this as the opening song and Kiwi as the closing one! Would love to see you react to him perform this live too. There are several versions out there, and I honestly can't choose one which one to recommend.. I just started watching your channel & I’m really enjoying it... Your musical knowledge is impressive. On Harry’s first Tour he did open with Only Angel & it was Amazing! Can’t wait to see Tiny Desk Reaction. I enjoy when you cover live performances or Videos but I would watch anything you do with Harry Styles. When his first Album came out he did a show with Apple Music, just Him & his Band & played the whole Album...that was fun to watch. He also did Harry Styles Live at the BBC which was excellent as well. New with this Album Zane Lowe did a long interview with Harry which was very informative. Just a few suggestions... Best thing about Harry’s music/songs is hearing the different kinds of instruments and sounds that you don’t hear often now on today’s music and I just love seeing you react & geek out over the sounds and Harry’s voice😊🙌
I’ve seen some other people mention it, and I know you’ve already watched two Kiwi videos, but I would HIGHLY recommend you react to him singing Kiwi three times (KIWI KIWI KIWI).
It really shows how much of an amazing performer he is. He did it three times in a row on his last concert of tour without any breaks and the crowd was crazy. He has asthma and you could tell just how exhausted he was but he still gave the entire performance(s) so much energy. I wish I was there to see it live!

Only Angel is my favorite song from Harry’s first album along with sign of the times (which you should definitely react to live from the graham norton show 😁) and I wanted to see your reaction to it after seeing how you reacted to kiwi! This song was such a perfect opener for his first tour and literally made me ascenddd it’s so good 🙏 I love how it switches from the heavenly chorus vocals to crazy rock and roll. Not only did he open with Only Angel, but also, his shows were 360 (MSG 360 was incredible), so he had this whole screen that went around the circular stage and slowly lifted as the intro played, and when the song finally started the lights and smoke went crazy and he started jumping around (he has an incredible aura and energy on stage, it’s mesmerising to see)
Look up one of his shows, there’s so much footage online. It was amazing!
Also, Kiwi has an intro as well, it just isn’t ok the album. If you wanna watch a good performance of Only Angel and the Kiwi intro, he performed both at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2017

As a fellow musician, I’ve only been into rock for the longest time. It wasn’t until last year that I REALLY started to branch out and listen to everything, including Harry styles and even 1 Direction, which I never thought I’d ever say. Even my bandmates and friends are like “dude you sure you’re not gay?” or “you’re literally so obsessed with him”. To be honest, he’s my favorite artist at the moment because, like you said, he’s incredibly versatile. And don’t be worried about blasting Harry Styles in the car and being obnoxious. Every day I go out it’s all I blast along with Zeppelin, Sabbath, and all of the other greats lmao

He did open his tour with this song! I saw a lot of people suggesting you react to the Victoria’s Secret fashion show performance but I think you’d love the tour version a lot more because it has so much energy and he goes all out (for the vs one it was a bit more toned down because obviously he can’t take the attention away from the fashion show and he’s stuck in one place), or if you want a studio version he opens his behind the album documentary singing only angel and that one is also much better than the vs one

You're right it didn't get a lot of radio play. His songs don't actually get a lot of radio play despite being massive successes. The only songs of his I've heard of his on the radio are Sign of the times on his last album and Adore you on his latest album. I'm sure I'll start seeing Watermelon Sugar high soon.
I won't lie I want you to put it in line because I want to see you react to the live Graham Norton performance but honestly do the one you're feeling really strongly about. Reactions are better when you go with passion.

If you want to go with a full album reaction, it would be great to start with his first self-titled album then go to the second, Fine Line. His show in St. Paul has some of the best quality videos imo.

I’m all for listening to Harry’s music turned up obnoxiously loud. I didn’t know there was another way to listen, honestly. I’m wishing you would do the album reaction before Tiny Desk only because Tiny Desk features versions of songs found on Fine Line. You really should listen to the debut album first. It’s all good but that takes you on the journey many of us took that followed his career out of 1D. I love it all so I will be here no matter what order you end up choosing. Only Angel to open the arena tour was epic and you could feel the excitement in the room build. Did you check the updated tour dates to catch him live in 2021?

One of the comments mentioned you should watch his live performance of this show during the Victoria Secrets show , I agree it was amazing

woo bonus episode knew you’d love this song!! and yes he used to open shows with it! the screen would rise up during the intro it was always so epic. i’m not sure if i would recommend reacting to a live performance though. there aren’t that many good ones in my opinion. he performed it for the victoria secret fashion show (as well as kiwi) but obviously the focus is more on the models than him so it can be a bit frustrating if you’re watching for the song. maybe watch them in your own time rather than recording? i would definitely say that you need to react to sign of the times at the graham norton show asap though!! it will be a backtrack from tiny desk as it was his first solo single but will set up the more rock/70s sound he went for with his first album. and then maybe from there you can do the full album reaction to HS1?

pop stations aren't going to play this and the rock and alt stations won't because Harry's an ex-boybander. i've always thought Harry and his bandmate Louis would be great on rock/alt radio but they are from a boyband and they don't get the chance. closest Harry's gotten is Adore You charting on Adult Contemporary. it sorta sucks
Louis Tomlinson doesn’t do rock at all. He’s a Walmart version of Oasis in a handful of songs but his album is basically just 1D rejects

If you wanna check it out live i think there are two major ones - The one live at the BBC and one live in studio which is from his Behind The Album film that they recorded at Abbey Road Studios. I'm not sure if that one is on youtube, but it's on apple music, or you can probably just google Harry Styles Behind The Album. It's the first song he plays.

Awesome reaction. This song is one of my favourites from the album. Live is always best so if you can react to a live version I would recommend the Victoria Secret version as it's a professional recording (he also does kiwi live here).

I'm new here and this had been great. Your trek down the rabbit hole is almost spot on with mine 😁 I went through it when his debut album came out. There was not a lot of radio play for his songs - unfortunately. His voice/tone(!), the band, the music ...so great. Flew to the US just to see him in concert. Ticket in hand for next year's concert already (Assuming this virus gets under control so I can fly in again 🙄)

I am just so happy that u loved only angel. Frm the first time i heard this, i was also impressed. I was just so surprised that this song us the most underrated track in HS1. But for those who love rock and roll, this us really a big song and i love it. Thank u that u loved it too. Now i know nothing is wrong with me for liking it so much when its the least appreciated in harry's first album! This was the opener of his live tour.
