Sumo Cyco is one of those bands that brings everything to their live shows. Hadn't heard of them before I saw them open for another band in 2019, and was immediately blown away. They played first, and to be honest, they rocked the crowd harder than both the other bands that night.
I've seen them three times so far, 2015 (w/Coal Chamber) and twice in 2019 (w/Combichrist and w/Jinjer). When I got my second 2019 Sumo Cyco ticket it was "Who is Jinjer?" Now I have all of Jinjer's albums as well. :-) I missed some 2015-2018 shows, so now I follow them on Twitter so I won't miss anymore Toronto shows.
Man I remember watching stuff Skye Sweetnam made as a teen and loving her voice and lyrics even back then. I am glad to see that her style has continued to evolve and stay in line with the stuff I like.
Damn girl!! You've come a long way since you were "kicking the Coke machine". 😀 If you haven't done it already, I think Sumo Cyco & Motionless in White would be a killer show.

Just looked up the lyrics... holy crap this is actually kinda deep. The way I interpret it is that it is a person afflicted with procrastination or ADHD and is finally starting to fight back against complacency. Basically they don’t want to stand idle and watch the world pass them by. That hits right in the feels as I was just diagnosed with ADHD after 38 laps around the sun and am, myself, trying my best to fight against it after trying my best and failing multiple times. To anyone that needs to hear this: “stop fighting yesterday and punch today in the FACE!” You got this

Once I did at a friend's suggestion, I blew through ALL the content (and damn there's a lot) in a few days. This song was my fave, and I keep coming back to it. Looking forward to seeing you live at the show coming up!!
I was fortunate to see them open for Mushroomhead a few years ago in Milwaukee. She has such a personable charisma. The crowd was 100% into them. I'm glad to see and hear them still. Cant wait to catch them live again.

If you’re onboard, I highly recommend seeing them live. If you’re not onboard, I highly recommend seeing them live. They’ve managed time and again to turn a crowd of apathetic individuals into a group of head banging and moshing Cycos. And they run everything themselves, so you can walk up to them and talk to them after the show. Skye gives the best hugs!
I was blown away by their performance when I saw them tour with Jinjer. If you get the chance to see them live, do it. Even if you don’t think their sound is for you. They bring it live!
They are simply awesome live, because you can see and feel that they love what they are doing and that makes everything 100 times better. Saw them live in the Atra Bar in Hamburg, probably the smallest Bar I have ever entered, there were liek 30 people or so and it was incredible.
I accidentally discovered this video the other day and it immediately grabbed me. Since then Ive been through their entire back catalogue and music videos. This band are f*cking awesome! Such a good sound and energy. They've totally got their own thing going on and the fact they do everything themselves is most impressive. I can't believe I've only just found out about them. Definitely can't wait to check them out live when things normalise.
I saw them in St Louis opening night of the Jinjer tour and Skye crowd surfing from the stage to the bar, taking a drink then crowd surfing back to the stage was amazing! I will definitely never forget that show!
Skye's creativity influence has melted into Napalm records and I love every second of it!!! I have been a fan of Sumo Cyco since a little after their debut as an independent band. Please keep these lovelies safe, Napalm.
This is great. Lots going on in the video. The sound is amazing the chorus is catchy. Seen them twice live once supporting AAF and at Download Festival. I saw them open for Jinjer in the fall of '19. Killer live band and full of energy. Never saw a lady singer crowd surf , get into the mosh pit and command them to crouch down during a break down and then explode. Skye is a great performer and fearless.🤘

Hold on. This amazing video was all done by yourselves? I find that more impressive than the music even. It's so creative, with so many throwbacks to 90s weirdness. On top of that the music has like this vibe if 90s Eurodance and 00s nu-metal evolved together instead of going away and created this weird but catchy lovechild. I'm intrigued!

I saw SC live in Florence Italy years ago, the crowd was probably 10 people... Best rock concert I've seen in a long time! The band gave 200%, it was a blast
WOW! I love how flexible metal can be, this is a great mix of hip hop and metal. Lovely singer with a great voice of incredible range and rage. Hard to believe this band has videos going back 13 years, just tried this one out to see how this band sounds and will be viewing more of their videos.
The last few concerts I have been too, the crowds have been boring. Just standing there staring at the musicians. Not her show. I haven't seen someone control a crowd like that in a long time. And, I feel bad for saying this. Sumo Cyco opened for Jinjer. Half the people left about the third or fourth song of Jinjer.
Possibly!! I really love the front woman. The only reason I know this band is from seeing the video where she smacks the heck out of her head right as she was taking the stage. Haha I look forward to more though. Keep up the good work, and watch your head!
I saw them in Indianapolis when they opened for Jinjer. She really knows how to liven up a crowd. Lol she pointed at me and told me to stop leaning against the bar. She then ran out into the crowd, jumped up on the bar right next to me, downed a shot of whiskey, and then electrified the crowd some more with their music. They were outstanding. That was the last show I saw before civid hit.
Saw them for the first time during their tour with Jinjer, will catch them every time they hit San Diego area. Hell who else wants to do a cross continent Sumo Cyco music and wing tour and catch every show!?!
Two observations on this. One, the video is trippy as balls. Two, if I dont watch the video and listen to the music alone, I get racing videogame soundtrack vibes like crazy. Like, ATV Offroad Fury, Flatout, the older Need for Speeds and the like... which is a good thing.

And, I feel bad for saying this. Sumo Cyco opened for Jinjer. Half the people left about the third or fourth song of Jinjer.
Although I’ve never enjoyed much from this band, this song is actually pretty catchy. I dig it!

Possibly!! I really love the front woman. The only reason I know this band is from seeing the video where she smacks the heck out of her head right as she was taking the stage. Haha I look forward to more though. Keep up the good work, and watch your head!

I saw them in Indianapolis when they opened for Jinjer. She really knows how to liven up a crowd. Lol she pointed at me and told me to stop leaning against the bar. She then ran out into the crowd, jumped up on the bar right next to me, downed a shot of whiskey, and then electrified the crowd some more with their music. They were outstanding. That was the last show I saw before civid hit.
Can’t wait to play again.

Two observations on this. One, the video is trippy as balls. Two, if I dont watch the video and listen to the music alone, I get racing videogame soundtrack vibes like crazy. Like, ATV Offroad Fury, Flatout, the older Need for Speeds and the like... which is a good thing.
