    I believe the oil holds the dirt in suspension until you drain it. In the past I'd always heard that Valvoline was a high detergent oil and great for keeping engines clean. Maybe the Valvoline turns dark sooner because it's doing a better job?

      I used valvoline for a long time and never saw any benefits to it really it didn't clean anything up and it turned black very fast. When I switched to castrol yes my oil turned black just like the valvoline did but after draining the oil I saw that it actually helped clean the engine so I continued to use it and now my engine is super clean and my oil stays clear for 3000 plus Miles. But that's just me maybe it doesn't work the same in all engines

    When Valvoline was developing their max life oil, they actually used in service cop cars as test vehicles. Specifically higher mileage older police cars. at the end of the test they found that the cop car Crown Vics were seeing improved mpgs and less oil consumption. I truely believe the Valvoline is a good quality product, I’ve ran it for years in my own Crown Vics and never had an issue. I suppose the best way to really tell if the oil is any good is to get a used oil analysis on it. Which I plan on doing at some point. I also I’m pretty adamant about changing my oil every 3000 miles.

    I'm sorry to say brother, you want the oil to turn dark, because that means it is cleaning, and the carbon is in suspension ready for the next oil change, which is the way the oil is designed to do, and some oils are better than others at this. But, I have to say you really do a good job at changing your oil regularly, and I agree it is good to change earlier than the manufacturer wants, because they want you give them more money later, because the engine blows due to listening to manufacturer's recommendations. If you ever have clattering, which I say you are much less likely than most people due to you being so good with keeping up your oil changes, a thicker oil would be OK, because it's on it's last leg anyways. Just experiment with how thick stops the clattering, or at least quietens it. Lucas may be good since it sticks to the metal for startup, but just keep in mind Lucas doesn't have detergency, and don't know if it will the day your engine starts clattering, if you ever see it, which may be 500,000 or more miles. I have a 2001 Chevrolet Impala that is about to hit 300,000 miles on the original engine, and it was clattering, and the Lucas quited it, but I mix Marvel Mystery oil for cleaning due to the detergency in it. Remember sometimes less is more, but just experiment with it. Don't resort to this unless it is showing signs of the engine wanting to die. Get a proper diagnosis of the noise the best you can. Also, you can flood your engine to fill the filter after an oil change by pressing the gas pedal and turning the ignition, but not starting the car for at least little bit. God bless you and thanks for the video. Also, I'm always easy with startups due to 75-90% of engine wear happens in tge whole warming up process. What I do is start up my vehicle and wait for the RPMs to drop, then I know I have oil pressure, and drive off smoothly because the transmission fluid also needs to warm and flow. Don't let warm up too long because in direct injection (almost all automobiles), gas (gas is a thin oil)is sprayed on the top of the pistons, and goes down the piston, as a thin oil pushing down the thicker oil, thus keeping the thicker oil from getting to the top of the piston, and also that gas mixes with the oil deluting the rest oil the oil causing sheer, and the oil will need to be changed earlier. You may smell this gas on the dipstick. That probably means the oil needs to be changed due to the protection being compromised between the moving engine metals.

    Valvoline High Mileage has more detergents so when you say it gets brown quickly, it’s because it’s doing it job it’s cleaning. The best way to prevent this is change your oil every 4,000 to 5,000 miles and no sludge will have the opportunity to develop in your engine in the first place

      @CB7Media  Рік тому

      So if your valvoline max life is still clear on your dipstick at 5000 miles your saying its not cleaning good either? Its cleaner because it helps keep the engine clean 👌 my engine was full of gunk after using the castrol time and time again it was staying cleaner longer each time because it was actually eating up the gunk in the engine i used a bore scope and removed the oil pan to see it for my own eyes if you use a high quality filter and oil your engine oil should never go black right away so saying if its not going black its not cleaning is wrong because its all ways going to go black when the oil is used up and reached its life i change my oil before then so i don't have deposits left behind from not changing the oil when it needs to be changed and my engine stays clean. I change the oil around 3 to 5000 miles depending on if its had alot of city driving or highway driving in the winter i change it more often around the 3000 mark usually going over to 4000 miles because of more idle time and condensation that builds up in the oil when you start a cold engine because heat and cold make water and engine oil traps the water from the condensation if you don't believe that get a oil catch can and see for yourself

    You shouldn’t be using 5W 20 especially in any early 2000s and older
    You can run thicker oil especially if your car is high mileage or it’s hot outside
    If you read the manual it will tell you the temperature ranges and what oil viscosity you should be using
    For instance if you’re below 30°F you should be using 5W-30 but if you’re above 30°F you should be using 10W-30 if you’re over 90°F you should be using 20W-30
    Valvoline has detergents that help clean some of the carbon buildup and dissolve it into the oil which the larger deposits should be trapped in the oil filter as long as the filter is not damaged or very cheap
    Check out Purolator filters in my opinion there’s some of the better quality I’ve seen
    Valvoline has seal conditioner which prevents drying of the seals which intern make them need to be replaced
    You should also be filling the oil filter with as much oil as possible as to prevent a dry start

    • @MRTuning704
      @MRTuning704 Рік тому

      @@DarksideStreams Most engines are designed to run on a variety of different viscosity oils depending on condition
      For instance in my Delta 88 if you look in the manual it recommends 5w-30 for anything below 10°F but anything above 80°F it recommends 20W-50
      But it recommends 10W-30 15°F to 70°F.
      The first number is only important for temperature the second number is the actual viscosity of the oil but the bigger the difference in the first number from the Second number can determine how long the oil last before break down
      As the oil heats up the viscosity changes if you imagine the strands of oil atoms as a paper clip the more you bend it back-and-forth it will finally snap and that’s exactly how the oil breaks down over heat cycles along with fuel breakdown and carbon deposits
      Running a thicker oil in a high mileage engine for example 70,000+ miles can help prevent further ware because overtime metal can make contact and wear out usually due to low quality oil or poor maintenance schedules so thicker oil can fill in the gap and add some cushion along with building more oil pressure and worn out oil pumps
      I think people reading a oil cap or reading something online and not doing for the research is more of a problem with a lot of these used cars especially the people assuming 10,000+ miles on low quality $20 oil change quick lube oil just trying to save a buck and listening to Joe schmo who doesn’t even know how to change his brakes
      There’s a lot of good resources online there’s also a lot of really bad ones
      I believe everyone should learn as much as possible and gain information from as many sources as possible and make an informed decision based on what they can learn not just taking one thing they hear and running with it

I keep up to date on my air filters and fule filters and spark plugs. It stays clean because I use good oil filters. and I run marvel mystery oil in with it every 3 to 4 oil changes to clean up the engine. its just a really good oil all around. It definitely leaves a good slick residue behind so when you start your vehicle up there's no dry spots so less where and tare on moving parts

    I have engine dyno lab experience and castrol is garbage oil. Valvoline is cleaning the oil deposits from all the garbage oil used before it. I've torn down multiple engines that had valvoline consistently and looked new inside. It's funny to see opinions of people that have no real basis for thier opinion on the matter.

    Today you can’t buy a bad motor oil. The government is up the ass of oil blending companies. Emissions is very important to them. You see that API seal of approval you got great oil. Walmart super tech is an excellent oil blended by the Warren oil company. Don’t use Lucas it as thick as fifty weight oil. Most vehicles are happy with 5/20 or 5/30. The W stands for winter. I never heard of a vehicle blowing up because they used a Fram oil filter. It’s usually operator error that causes the problems. People suck at checking oil levels so they seize the engine and blame the oil filter. By the way when you buy Napa motor oil your buying Valvoline motor oil. Yes Valvoline blends Napa motor oil.

    Rather than a mobile one filter, get yourself a super tech Walmart filter. It is the same quality as mobile one at almost three times less the price. Why pay more for name brands when you get the same quality maybe even better through a super tech oil filter. If you don't believe me look at a teardown of a mobile one and supertech oil filter and you'll see they're the same damn thing.

    Did you know that your motor oil that you are using is nothing more than recycled motor oil? That’s right.. do you know the oil you take to your auto parts store and drop off after you do in oil change or maybe your salvage yard or maybe your oil recovery Center in your hometown? Well, you just poured it in your engine.! Valvoline was the first motor oil that was ever made. Valvoline made the first high mileage motor oil in the world.. there is no better oil than Valvoline.
    Oil turns black for a reason . There are many reasons mainly because of soot build up in fuel injected, gasoline engines. Anyway, you use your motor anyway you want. My car has 297,000 miles on it runs like a top doesn’t knock doesn’t smoke and the oil gets changed every 30,000 miles but the oil filter gets changed every 3000 that’s right I change the oil filter every 3000 miles and add if I have to but usually don’t add but a drop. So in one oil change, my filter gets changed nine times. Hey for three or four dollars how can you go wrong?
    Oh, and one more thing
    Good luck !!!!

    BLACK OIL IS NOT PERSE BAD OIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This idea is incredibly persistent, just like the 3000 mile oil change.
    Put oil in a diesel, 20 miles later it's black, you want to say it's gone bad already ?
    Choose the right spec and change in time keeping your style of driving into consideration.
    One guy tested his oil at 3, 5,7.5 and 10K miles, sent it all to a lab, guess what 7.5k was the turning point, but the oil was already black at 3k.

    Well, I admit that it's somewhat true, castrol is a very good oil, but if after 4000 miles it's still transparent, it hasn't done the job of cleaning yet, besides, no oil will clean your engine and your pistons better than penzoil platinum, nothing, and i. I'm willing to bet on it. It's made out of natural gas, not crude, and you will get 550 miles more a year. Try it, you may have a change of heart. And again, don't change your oil until it gets darker or you can't see the dipstick through the oil, otherwise you're wasting your money.
