One stupidly easy way of getting Tong Master is to just release Namibia as an independent country, then declare war and puppet while they still have zero divisions.
They should definitely focus more on South Africa,Australia,New Zealand and all the other British puppets these countries could easily have pretty fun focusses
Yea, hell South Africa has Jan Smuts in game (defence minister and general during ww1 - prime minister during ww2) and in real life JBM Hertzog got voted out after he didn't want to step down (he made a deal with parliament to step down if Hitler goes to war - a chamberlain for South Africa basically) they voted Smuts in as pm, since like Churchill he from day one told everyone that Hitler would start a war. Their is a whole event in game, he has a portrait and everything, but it doesn't happen in game, a modder found the event and made it a mod. Also I as a South African dislike the politics, sure communists are black South Africans (the white communist movement got destroyed by Smuts in 1920's after they rose up - Smuts shelled them and blew up the rich whites that had voted him into his first prime ministership) but the Boer focus is immediately followed up with become Nazi and join Germany, while true we Boers supported Germany (during ww1 as they supported us during the second freedom war 1899-1902) by 1940's we had mostly stopped caring, our beloved German kaiser was no longer incharge and the new guy wasn't that popular abroad due to his camps and starting world wars. In real life if the Boer movement would have happened again we would have gone what the game called non aligned and if the Kaiser was around we would most likely have joined him, or invited him to join us as a monarch -British style- the facist South African movement was never more than 20 people and that was mostly a spy ring playing German propoganda on the radio and a few guys keeping tabs on Britsh shipping in South African harbours, and our former champion boxer did join the German spy agency and got caught trying to sneak back into South Africa, from what I recall apon him crossing the border and getting arrested he just out right asked the border police if they would want to join him in spying for the Germans.

Pelley was a northerner and hated the south and the confederates really didn't get along with the fascist and nazi movements in the USA at the time. "Turing Complete", which requires that you fully decrypt all of the Axis nations. And I got it WITHOUT a Spy Agency (didn't bother to make one, I just wanted a boring and easy game) , and I think it's because I was still a Puppet (or maybe a Colony, can't quite remember) under UK, and they did the decrypting, so I counted a doing it. ...yup, working as intended! Anyway, hope that works as a tip on how to get those two in the same game, for reasons.

Does anyone remember an ISP video where some AI nation (I think britain?) started researching all strategy trees at once and out of order? I have been searching it since forever and can't find it.
When I played HOI4 for the first time I was overwhelmed by it. I asked on internet the "best country to learn the game" Load of replies where "South Africa" So my first long game was with South Africa. Now after 600 hourd I suspect that they where ironic.
Actually, despite the crappy focus trees and inability to ramp up conscription, playing the Dominions in the historical playthrough is usually a good way to learn the game. They have pretty simple mechanics and you can practice learning how to do combat and naval invasions without the risk of capitulating (because you're way too far from the action) It's really fucking boring though, so people usually suggest Canada not South Africa as the focus tree is slightly more fun.
Freegypt isn't so bad if you build some dockyards in the country first as the UK, and go historical. You do have the Libyan front and the Italian Africa front to fight in and contribute to the war, and you can eventually help with D-day. But it is still a slog at times.
South africa has even a pretty fun democratic focus tree. The only thing is, it lacks research slots on democratic. Hope they would buff/patch the aus, raj and canadian ones someday. Specially raj, 210 days focus for some train tracks while you even have not researched trains is pretty shitty.
they need to go back to old nations when they release a new dlc cos now the balkans, poland and italy are more powerful than most other nations in the game, the power creep whenever a new dlc pops up is wild in a month or so the new most powerfl nation will be denmark or something
Yeah, I honestly always thought that the Majors should be being updated every time a new DLC comes out, because the Alt History is fun and all, but sometimes I wish the actual WW2 gameplay between the majors was a bit more than draw a frontline and press "go". The issue is that the power of Minor nations as you said from the DLC means its pretty easy to become as powerful as an major within a few years, and particularly with the AI the Major nations just don't have enough production power when at war to actually build new units, change templates etc. What it leads to is the wars outcome being pretty much determined before it starts, since most of the time one nations army will be strong enough to completely curbstomp the other.
I played South Africa once, joined the axis and took all of Africa.... Germany took everything in the peace deal and at the end of the game I was back at the start
I think the Egypt thing is you have to be a democracy so you can go to colony and dominion instead of the reichsomosirrits (I know that's not the spelling, I'm typing on phone and don't feel like retyping it(
