  • What kind of food did you expect if you were on Carnival Luminosa out of Brisbane in
December of 2022. Fairly set menus, some short hours of dining & one I'm really excited to see a restaurant that's only open for two & a half hours every day.
Complimentary dining which one I thought was the best?
You get access to the main dining room by using the HUB app.
Look for the food & dining section
Then you push that you are wanting a reservation if you have any time dining during these times.
    You can see the menu
Once you have been allocated your table you will receive a notification.
I just press the make a reservation as I was leaving my cabin by the time that I got to the Vala dining room, 2nd, or sat outside for a couple of minutes, I'd received notification of my reservation of my table being available.
With the menu being available on the app you can see the menu at any time, so you don’t have to delay your food ordering once you get to the restaurant.
A couple of screenshots of the different sections of the menu breakfast menu & brunch menu
Some screenshots of a few of the different menu selections, the cold-pressed juices had an additional fee & some of the better-quality coffee that is served both at breakfast & in the evening comes at an additional cost.
On all the menus there is a variety of different products that will cater to all tastes.
    The children's specific menu.
The brunch, the sides & the desserts.
I never got to eat those because I was so full of the food that I had eaten.
This is the disembarkation day breakfast which was just basically a set menu.
This was a brunch one which is the Voyager burger, the French toast, which was a bit soggy but very delicious, and the skillet pancake which was amazing.
Moving into the evening menu, the variety available on the evening menu had an additional cost that came from the steakhouse like the surf & turf.
If you're going to treat yourself maybe that is an option for you.
There are vegetarian options, if you want additional Halal, Kosher or vegan food just give the cruise line two months’ notice, so they can get additional food in that will suit you.
The meatballs were very flavorsome, though they were a little cool.
The pate was very coarse, came with a bit of a soggy crouton,
    Prawn entree
    Standard house steak
    Chicken Parmigiana
Steak, medium rare with pepper sauce.
Desserts never disappointed that was kind of like a Tiramisu, cheesecake, lava cake type.
Ice cream is available almost most of the time if the machines are working out on the open deck.
Buffet style dining, dining's times were very short, so it wasn't uncommon to see that the food service was not available.
Additional fee food, the sushi & of course Fahrenheit 555
If you are having a celebration, it is well worth having this specialty dining experience.
    The price for the Italian
My favorite and I think the best complimentary food was the barbecue area back here in the AFT section near the serenity area.
When I get to Luminosa facing the barbecue restaurant here on Luminosa
Some people have always got something to say about the food on a cruise ship but I would always say if you can't cook any better than what you are eating & you've got nothing to complain about.

Having just return from cruising on Luminosa, I can say that the food is not patch on P & O Encounter. The food in the marketplace and theme nights is all aimed at an American market.

There is usually something to choose in addition if I didn't like my order.
I'll be on Disney Wonder in 3 weeks, I remember Disney food as being very good pre-pandemic.
      Happy Cruising

Hi, thank you for doing a such wonderful video. You did a great job for a first timer to the cruise. Do you recommended to make reservation for any specialty dinning? Such as the steakhouse?

      Thank you
      Yes
Have a specialty dining experience, especially if you have an anniversary or special occasion.
As a first-timer on a short cruise, it might not be a huge priority. On a longer 7+ night cruise, it will add variety.
You may consider a Chefs Table instead if one is available.
It may be more expensive 》$100, the experience is fantastic. You may get a galley tour, and definitely meet the head chef, food, and beverage director.
      A wonderful treat.
Whatever you decide, have an amazing cruise.

enjoyed your review. i just did the 7 day after cyclone cruise on Luminosa. Did the late seating set time and it was great service. HUB app would not work on my old iPhone but no problem getting printed menu. I would recommend the 555 restaurant on deck 10, i had the 500gram skootch fillet used my $50 on board credit so only cost me $15. I don't know how they do for so little money & nights single person in Balcony cabin 7247 for $430🤩

We have just returned from the cruise to Mystery Island Lifou and Noumea. The staff were wonderful - friendly and helpful but the food was awful. I couldn't finish most of the meals. The only decent meal was in Fahrenheit 555 and worth every cent. One morning the scrambled eggs were pink! The link sausages were hard as rocks, the breakfast juice was watered down. I ended up only have a bowl of cereal every morning and couldn't get a decent cup of tea, coffee or chocolate.
I'm not a fussy eater but couldn't finish most of the meals. Other passengers who had done more cruises felt the food was very poor quality.

      Wow!
      That sounds bad!
Did you offer feedback at the time? Or in written feedback at the customer service desk.
There is a Maitre D at all dining venues you can speak to.
I often go and ask for the Executive Chef if I have an issue that isn't resolved to my satisfaction.
I am pleased the rest of the cruise went well.

@@julescruisecompanion Yes, I filled in the survey form emailed to me. I don't really expect a response.

      @kesleycourt5122 I understand your scepticism.
      It's great you fedback.
I know a couple of Exec Chefs on other cruise lines who take feedback very seriously.
Potentially, in OZ, we have so few cruise choices & so many people wanting to cruise there is a low incentive to improve.

This was our first cruise and intended as research if we liked cruising after caravanning for many years.
We learnt a lot and we won't be sailing Carnival again. That said, the crew, particularly our cabin attendant were great and I gave them positive feedback in my email.@@julescruisecompanion

Thank you for spending time creating your videos. I have a question for you. It seems there's controversy regarding after dinner beverages in the main dining room on the Luminosa. On all Carnival ships there is complimentary brewed drip (Filtered coffee) coffee and/or Lipton's Black Tea or Green Tea. Then there are specialty coffees which are espresso-based such as Cappuccino, Latte, and of course Espresso and a premium teas selection that is extra cost. There have been many, many posts on various forums that imply the main dining room staff on the Lumiosa never gave passengers the option to order free coffee or tea and it was ONLY the paid options that were available. Some people agreed with that but it wasn't universal; some people responded you just have to ask for the complementary options. What was your experience with this?

    • @julescruisecompanion
      @julescruisecompanion  Рік тому

      I don't drink coffee.
I am used to being on cruises in the past that dessert is offered with a coffee.
Since cruising recommenced in Australia, I have not observed servers offering after dinner coffee in the Main Dining Room.
I have observed people asking for coffee's after their meals.
I suspect there are alterations to service for a variety of reasons.
I will be more vigilant and ask in March when I am on Luminosa again.
Stay Safe and Happy Travels ❤️ 🛳

Half the pleasure of cruising for me, is putting your feet under the table and the only decision you have to make is what to eat? Not thinking oh what am I going to have to cook…….. other peoples food tastes so much better, we all like time out. 👍😊

      So true.
      Variety is often food.
Sometimes just having the carbonara with extra cracked pepper is a treat.
      Bon Appetit
