I grew up in Fords, 1950 through1970 on Lawrence St. My parents lived their until they're death in 2008.. After my service to the USAF, I located in California and I have been here over 50 years.
I knew Mary Chingery who lived at 58 Lawrence Street. Her son George was my dad's best friend. The Chingerys originally lived at #95. Mary and her husband moved to Florida for a few years and came back to Fords in 1973 or '74 moving into #58. After George's first marriage ended in 1980,he moved into #58. He moved out in '84 after he married a second time and bought a house in Edison. RIP Mary,George Sr.,George Jr. and Maryann(the younger George's sister) who was killed in a crash near Hoy Avenue a year ago.Mary's sister Betty Kozma(RIP as well) lived at #58 also. Maryann,her husband-turned-widower and their two children lived at #58 also.
Yes, Madison is Northern NJ, but Fords is right in the middle! Those that believe that Central NJ does not exist may consider Middlesex County and the Woodbridge area Northern NJ, however those that live there, know that Central NJ exists! 😄
Many wrongs---Burnham Drive homes were being built in 1961 cause I watched it happen from my backyard on Hearthstone Drive...and Heartstone Drive as you described it, was not Hearthstone, but it was Soren Street.I guess you are not from Fords!
Thank you for the correction on when the homes were built. I certainly was not around in 1961 when they were being built so I had to go off of my research online, which obviously was wrong. I think I actually pulled the information from the online tax record which I am now guessing may have shown the date when the land may have been purchased......? That could explain why I had an earlier date in my video, sorry for the confusion. As for mislabeling Hearthstone Drive, my sincere apologies. That was an editing oversight on my part, thank you for pointing it out. I will make sure and be more careful in the future. Have a great day!
