Yes! I was hoping you'd upload this. My favourite part of the opera and one of Verdi's catchiest tunes! can't wait to see the live relay on the 14th. Thank you for posting!

The famous bass confrontation between Philip & The Grand Inquisitor in DON CARLOS is better known & also more complex dramatically but this scene from early/middle Verdi is still very exciting & a real pleasure to perform. I have not heard great number of versions of this duet but I especially appreciate the Tozzi & Flagello rendition from the RCA studio recording from the mid 1960s.
Still, IMO, the best singers that I have heard in this particular scene. Besides this I feel that this was one of Bergonzi‘s very best studio recordings that I have heard. It was a fine role for him & his singing of the famous tenor aria is one of the best I have heard & he is top form throughout stylistically & vocallY.

Any relation to Brindley Sherratt? Another fine bass.

I saw him in Manon Lescaut at the Met. Like most British singers, he is also a terrific actor. I'm guessing you're a bass as well.

verdiguy well, i’m only 20 but i’m on the track of becoming a baritone. Unfortunately, I’m American and wasn’t blessed with the best acting abilities! (Not saying all Americans are bad actors but I’m sure not great haha)

Stagecraft and opera have grown in leaps and bounds since the days of singing sofas and park and bark as they used to call it. Still not sure that this is a good thing as there's almost too much fixation with singers looking the part as opposed to actually singing these days! Good luck with your career!

Act 2, either Sc 4 or 8, per open-arias.com. Walter and Wurm, bass-bass duet, "O meco incolume." Wonderful duet in a stirring cabaletta style.

Thanks so much for posting this clip. Will you be pressing DVDs of this production with the Great Domingo as Miller? I very much hope so. I no longer live near any opera houses nor near an HD Live participating theatre or buy Sirius radio. So, a DVD is my only option. I'm a long time fan of Maestro Domingo and very much enjoy his still evolving artistry. Please tell him I said so. Otra vez, mil gracias por compartir. --Desert Dweller in TX

Thank goodness for subtitles. Can't understand a word they're singing. Terrible Italian and awful signing. Awwwwww!
