    That mis-aligned bushing was definitely the main problem with your hydrostatic drive, but I suspect that the brakes were dragging also because the pivot was so seized!

    I've got my grandfather's T1600 that he bought new in around 1990. First piece of equipment i learned to operate. I remember long summers of cutting grass at his rental properties on it as a kid. Was still using it the cut the grass at my own house until two years ago when the transaxle started leaking badly. That particular Eaton is a known lemon (I've got the same one) but they changed it out for an upgraded model on the later machines. There's a serial number break in the service manual that talks about it. Anyways, I was just holding onto it to have the engine for an undetermined future project, but seeing one run again tempts me to put it back in service as a mower. Great memories if nothing else.
    Keep up the great work!

    29:46 im betting the vibration from that bad ujoint may have caused the cracking in the deck, thing literally vibrated itself to pieces. Also, that front ujoint should have either a pin you depress or a tapered bolt you dtive out to remove the shaft from the output on the mower, that way you don't have the shaft hanging down

    You are one of the best mechanics on UA-cam and I am not kidding. I will pray that your health gets better. When ya'll got that dump truck I thought before you did it, it was an exercise in futility to weld the tip back on that brake holding pin. I am sure wrecking yards have lots of those pins holding in drum brakes, but you pulled it off. Kudos to you for your ability. The design on this trans was poorly done and conceived and methods of holding those ports for correct flow seems to me to be knurling the shaft with a hammer and center punch, or after cleaning it with brake cleaner to put red locktite on the silly thing. I will pray for your good health.

    Wow you got a smoking deal on that mower, the engine alone is worth what you paid. I own a g1800 kubota so I’m not familiar with the T series kubota but if it’s like the G series you will be amazed at the fuel economy mowing with it. I’ve had my g1800 for years now and can say it is a major fuel sipper, I’m constantly amazed at the fuel economy on it. I also own a b7500 kubota set up for mowing as well it’s an excellent mower as well but can’t hold a candle to the fuel efficiency of the G. Excellent job diagnosing and repairing that transmission. I also read some of the comments on how zero turns are the only way to go, personally I prefer my tractor style mowers. Zero turns are excellent if you make a living mowing or if all you are going to do is mow but I prefer the versatility of a tractor.

    • @rogerjustice8835
      @rogerjustice8835 Рік тому +1

      @@TheHomePros6221 no the G series has a totally different hydrostatic set up, they are much larger transmissions, and are set up with hydraulic deck lift, and rear 3 point lifts. They were offered in 2 wheel or 4 wheel steer, mine is a 2 wheel steer with a 3 cylinder diesel and all shaft drive like yours. I bought mine used from the original owner. He used it to mow his 6 acres so this thing has lots of hours on it the hour meter quit at 1100 hours. I was told by the original owner the hour meter had stopped years ago so I estimate this thing has at least 3000 hours on it, probably more than that if I knew for sure. I also had to replace a few wear items such as deck and transmission universal joints, deck gearbox seals, and a couple hydrostatic o rings that had hardened and dried out. My hydrostatic trans a few years ago did the same as yours and i thought it was going out, it ended up being 2 seals were bad on the hydraulic pump suction line letting air in the system, I replaced the seals and it’s as good as new. Even with as many hours as this thing has it still uses no oil and starts right up and mows excellent. I still say you made a smoking deal, enjoy that mower have a great day.

    Wonderful video!! I have 3 questions. 1.How did you learn how to work on so many different types of machines? 2. You have a magnificent shop. How long did it take to get everything you need and who taught you how to use the various pieces of equipment ? 3. I'm extremely jealous of your patience and expertise. Can I be your apprentice?

      thank you very much! I am self taught, ever since I was a kid I was always taking stuff apart and seeing how it works. I got into R/C cars when younger and learned a lot from that as well, you just got to have a want to learn and have a passion for it, im always watching videos fixing stuff and you can learn a ton from that, im also not scared to tackle somthing it’s always a learning experience 👍😊

    Kubotas never die, they just slow down then get rebuilt. What a score!

    I just sold my T1600 with a smoked starter for 600. Their cool when they run but very troublesome tractors when they want to be. Hope she treats you good!

    Those small Kubota engines are more or less indestructible, used in cargo refridgeration units, running 24/7.
