    The black liquid is most definitely 'bath slime'... or the same compound. It's also marketed as 'ultra slime' for the film industry. It was used as the ectoplasmic slime Venkman finds in the library in Ghostbusters.
    The main ingredient is HydroxyEthyl Cellulose, which has been bound to a chemical like Borax to create long molecular chains, aka slime.
    We use it in practical effects and creature effects to simulate body fluids. I made some for the Harry Potter movies and recently on Rings of Power.

    YES CORRIDOR CREW SHOWED ONE OF MY SHOTS! I worked on roadhouse. 15:18 was one of my shots.
    Yes, the technique you describe was used extensively. However, some shots were more straightforward, with a simple fake punch with the 2 actors in the same take. We then had to manually warp the arm in place so that the fist would connect with the other actor's body.
    Regardless of the method used, it was a lot of painful, brute force cleanup and frame by frame hacks to get those shots to work.

    • @calvinhu8214
      @calvinhu8214 Місяць тому +4

      Congratulations! I was thinking how the arms looked weird and yall having to animate the shots to match makes alot of sense. I feel the final result might not have been worth the effort. However trying new methods can always lead to better things. Also might have been the safest way for Connor to fight Jake.

    Have you guys checked out the visual effects in the old Telugu movie 'Mayabazar' (1957)?

Despite being made over six decades ago, the creativity and ingenuity behind its special effects are truly impressive. It would be great to see you react to how they achieved those effects with the limited technology available back then. I rarely comment anything on UA-cam, but this one video I had to. I just wanted you to know that feeling of wonder this video gave me is amazing. I'm a lil' high after a good hangout at the end of a great day, that contributes, but this wouldn't work the same without that one piece of quality content.
    Your precise explanations (I'm just now remembering the Moon Landing conspiracies debunked on a VFX basis), alongside your genuine taste for discovery and inspiration, infusing into your own creations (and also remembering Realistic Lightsaber Fight) and all kinds of experimentations (we see you Wren blasting cameras at neverending scales). All that is truly mind-opening and really contagious.
    I'm reading what I'm writing, and it's probably difficult to read me as not hyperbolic or ironic, but just know I'm really feeling all that I've said. You guys single-handedly added a whole level to my cinephilia over these years.
    Thank you for this moment, please never stop sharing your passion and your love for discovery and creation.
    Sincerely, a long time silent French fan
