    Down-to-earth, no nonsense , clean, Harley repair videos. I'm In the process of doing the same thing to my '18 Roadglide Special with the two inch drop Progressive kit. Very nice job brother....KB

    Tip for futire. Before you put the spacer in put tge cap on and slowly find the spot wear tge threads engage then take a sharpie marker and put a small line from the side of the fork tube nut into the side of the fork so you can start the nut as close to the point of engaging to make it easier to get started.

    Just stumbled across your channel and have to say, nice job. I have an 09 Dyna Superglide that needs new seals and being that I'm a big fella I want to step up to Progressive heavy fork Springs while having the forks apart anyway. I subscribed and hit the bell. 👍👍

      That’s awesome! Thank you, it’s much appreciated. I typically post every Wednesday. There’s a couple extra steps in Changing those fork seals, but not much. Let me know if I can help 😎

    Great vid... Only thing is that this can easily be done without taking the fork tubes or tire/fender off.

    Cant this be done with the forks still on the bike? Curious as to why you took them both all the way off?

  • @benjaminrico4277

    Couldn’t that have been done on the bike using a rod to pull the spring out ?

    Question, I just got the same kit for my 2020 street bob. I just replaced the folk oil a week ag0. Can I just take the top of my folks off and swap out everything without taking each fill off and draining? Thank you

    Nicely done …how long would you say a fork seal last?I’m getting so slight film on my …and a slight harsh bump at times,Winter project for me

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  Рік тому

      It’s hard to say. They will last some people years and years. Others will last a few months. It just depends on your riding style and terrain, really. If you live in a place full of potholes or like to see how fast you can hit a speed bump then they might not last too long.

    I just got these springs for my 2019 Streetbob and traker-die +2 dampers. Do you know what size I need to cut the spacer down to? And would I use the same amount of fluid as what progressive says to use or would it change because of the new dampers?

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  5 місяців тому

      Use the same amount of fluid. That spacer is going to be cut to your preference on how stiff you want your springs, but I usually go about 1/4-1/2” longer than the top of the threads.

  • @CreativeM35
    @CreativeM35 9 місяців тому

    If the kit in looking to buy says it can be lowered 1-2 inches. Does that mean I have to cut the spacer at a certain length to lower it?

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  9 місяців тому

      It’ll be a different size damper spring on the bottom. And then you’ll have to cut the supplied preload spacer accordingly

    Are these the same forks as on a 2000 Dyna Super Glide?

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  Рік тому +1

      They are similar install procedures, but the forks are different sizes. 91-2005 are 39mm forks, 2006-2017 are 49mm

    Nice video fella .. my bike is already dropped 2 inch in front forks.. i wanna take it back upto stock height. Would the pvc spacer rectify that if i put one back in thats longer in length or do i have to buy new springs ?

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  2 роки тому +2

      The part that lowers it is actually going to be the bottom spring on the damper rod. The longer that spring is, the lower it is. So you’d need a stock height spring and a longer preload PVC spacer
