With some of the lyrics and melodies I would suggest its not the electrostatic geneartor, but Vand Der Graaf Generator, the band.

I Courteeners hanno intitolato questo brano VAN DER GRAAFF .Ora musicalmente non si sentono particolari riferimenti alla grande band progressive rock ,ma se ci fate caso nel video soprattutto nel finale si vede un faro sul mare e secondo me è lì il riferimento alla band di Peter Hammill . Perché è evidente il collegamento con il brano A PLAGUE OF LIGHTHOUSE KEEPERS , LIGHTHOUSE in inglese significa FARO ed è appunto quello che si vede nel finale di questo video !!!!!!
