Thank you for braving the weather to bring us this one pity poor 43149 and 43004 and set frozen up and stranded liked the fireworks from the 450s and 458/5s!
You see, I stayed indoors the whole time lazy old me and you guys were out in the thick of it filming great clips like "Trains at Paignton 1.3.18 (by acw s/o or other) and Andy and Dandan Fisher's epic shot at Rotherham Masbrough of Oliver Cromwell and Galatea passing within minutes of each other I recommend those two if you haven't seen them already...
Great video of the snowy conditions, amazing how quickly it all went to heck. So the 800's weren't running? If they weren't that's another hit to them; the older HST's can withstand the weather :p
Thanks very much, and yes I agree about the HSTs. In fact the HST at 22:23 was meant to be an 800, so if they can't handle these snowy conditions I'd hate to see what it would be like with no HSTs in the future.
I was stuck at Bath for 3 hours on a hst set on 1/3/18. Nothing going anywhere, no buses, or taxis. I have to say, it really wasn’t a bad place to be, both engines running so nice and warm, plus free tea and coffee.... You can keep your modern shit that just fails in bad weather (poor sods in Weymouth the same day)
That is NOT Heavy snow. In 1947, 2 METRES (YES THAT'S RIght 6 feet 6 inches) fell in 24 hours, NOW THAT'S HEAVY SNOW!!!!! LOOK IT UP IN THE GUINESSE BOR>
I'm not british, i'm portuguese, but i must admit that these GWR trains are beautiful as heck, specially the class 387
in the thumbnail, that HST in the left looks smaller than the one on the right!
Lego_ 4WLC Yes, it's because of an one platform was higher then the other!
I_Burger_king don't worry I know that, just pointing it out 😉
Lego_ 4WLC 😉
Much smaller! Especially at 2:23
it’s the track height, 😑
cant express the beauty here
Very good video and well done for braving the cold snowy weather at Reading Station. :)
Thanks very much :)
You're welcome. The sparks coming off the third rail added to the fun action. :)

No problem, thank you for watching.

Sorry the Paignton clip is on the bmxwaffle channel I think the acw channel's full title is acw71000.
2:18 love the illusion
Almost like looking at an HO scale and OO gauge model train side by side
It certainly is odd.
The platform height in the thumbnail makes the left 43 look like a baby train! 😮

I’m watching this now because it’s really hot here and watching snow might help me cool down
Love this video 💯😎

I miss the dynamic blue lines, the pink and the blue...
2:07 i wonder what its like at the back of a train...
I saw the guy LOL
why the both HST's in Difference height for 2:17
Dylan Talbot its called a slope
Platform hights 🤗
It looks like a baby hst and a normal hst
Since when did the HST have a little brother?
Are HST trains built in different seizes?
Daniël DJ no its a slope
@@orbitarchive346 nope actually the platform was built higher that the other.
@@D._7nf thats what i mean
@@orbitarchive346 ☺
Thats heavy snow? Had 16 inches in 24 hrs just this March and that was a typical 71 inch winter here.
england: love heat, love snow, but none of either
How do you say the station name is it reading like your reading something or reding
Reding
@@Great_WesternTVFan ok thanks
Great video, but honestly severe weather? That's a joke
Normal weather here in finland, but not so normal in uk...
And trains run better in uk...
HOW!!??
If you listen out for announcements you can hear at least 4 cancellations 😂
Special thanks to,
Network Rail.
@Nick Lindsey they do if you're in the south, since this is the great western lines they operate fine. But the northern ones are a mess lol
@@WelshGuitarDude Not all are a mess. Northern can be bad sometimes but TransPennine Express are amazing
We love suomi
This was on my birthday
Must be terrible driving trains in the snow the stopping distance must start at least 2/3 miles from a station travelling at certain speeds
Believe it or not snow doesn't effect breaking as much as you think it would, leaves are worse by far
Tell me your best and worst British trains
Class 313 (Best) Class 142 (Worst)
Best: class 319, worst: class 142
best = class 455
worst = pacer (class 142)
best = 390
worst = 143
Is that an illusion in the thumbnail or is it me?
I propose a game. Drink every time "severe weather" is mentioned
I live very close to reading and that is not heavy snow
yes it is
A dusting of snow classed as sever weather???
This annoys me so much. This is NOT severe weather.
