    Introducing the Garden Love Edible Garden DIY project made from Dirt Locker® DIY Raised Garden Beds. Diane from Garden Love installed 600 Dirt Lockers® for terrace gardening and erosion so she could terrace a hill easily. Now she can plant many types of edibles and pollinating flowers!
    With the help of family and friends, the Garden Love team created 600 individual, level raised beds on their steep slope and then filled them with rich planting soil. The team configured the Dirt Locker® system easily by snapping all the Dirt Locker® together into a large network without the use of any tools or fasteners. See how easy it is to install a drip irrigation system with the Dirt Lockers®.
    The advantage of the Dirt Locker® system is the ability to have isolated planting zones with optimized watering, fertilizing, and soil for each plant’s individual needs.
    The Dirt Locker® system stops all hillside water, soil, and nutrient erosion.
    Now you can plant any type of plant on steep slopes such as fruit trees, flowers, and vegetables.
    Before you consider expensive retaining walls, look at the Dirt Locker® system.
    Do you need to install stepping stones or stairs onto your steep slope or hillside? When filled 3/4's soil and topped with landscaping stones or pavers, a Dirt Locker® cell can be transformed into a safe hillside stepping area.
    Dirt Locker® is a sloped landscaping solution for hillside front yards and backyards that experience erosion and irrigation issues. We're on a mission to solve your sloped yard's engineering issues with our simple product! The Dirt Locker® gets your garden soil locked and ready to load with fresh fruits, vegetables and plantings in a matter of hours. Learn more about how Dirt Locker® offers hillside transformations from a variety of steepness levels on our FAQ page. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@DirtLocker.com and we will be happy to return your email within 2 business days. Thank you for supporting Dirt Locker®!

    Installed 110 Dirt Loakers this morning. Assemble on the patio and with a few grand boys and son-in-law pulled the assembled set of Dirt Lockers up the in one shot. The only difficulty was pounding in the “J” stakes because of the lack of soil. Now my hill side has a chance to finally grow something we want. Great product great people. I’m totally sold. Planning to do the next install at a nw house we are building.

    can you use dirt lockers if the slope of the hill is not consistent? I have a 25 degree slope at certain parts that tapers down to less than 10 degrees. Would you break up the sections in that case?

    What size DL did you use in this video. It would be very helpful to tell us know what size you are using each time you do a video to give us a visual idea as what it may look on our property. Thank you. Currently waiting for our survey to conclude so that we can order our Dirt Lockers.

    • @dirtlocker
      @dirtlocker  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Rosa, thank you for your feedback. We always appreciate constructive comments. We mentioned the size at the beginning of the video, however, why it may not be recognized as the size is because we changed our naming convention from Senior, Original, and Junior to Large, Medium and Small. We will look into a way to correct this. So these were Large (formally known as Senior) DLs. Thanks again.

    I have a very steep hillside in North Carolina. We have cleared the vegetation and installed heavy duty landscape cloth. I noticed on this video you used gopher mesh. Can we install the dirt locker over the landscape cloth instead (we are not concerned with gophers. Mostly invasive weeds)?

      Is there an answer to this question?

    • @dirtlocker
      @dirtlocker  3 роки тому +1

      @@billking7568 Hello Bill, apologies, thought this had been answered. Installing the DirtLocker over landscape cloth would defeat the purpose of the DirtLockers somewhat. If you can use a weed barrier that will breakdown over time between the hillside and the DirtLockers, would be best.

    • @jongray4828
      @jongray4828 Рік тому

      All weed barrier breaks down over time, it’s better to plant without weed barrier because you’re essentially going to have to weed again! Best to plant a garden without because if you weed often enough you can stay on top of it with a propane weed burner and that would be less labor intensive and eliminate the need to spray chemicals!

      Your plants will grow successfully within the nurturing aid of the Dirt Locker® that will lock in moisture, soil, and nutrients. Together, the Dirt Locker® and your plants become a cohesive stabilizing force, protecting your entire hillside from nature’s destructive elements and providing erosion control that improves over time. As your plants increase their root structure, the hillside is constantly increasing in strength AND beauty!

    So for 600 of these plastic strips it would cost $7,800! Then the cost of the rebar anchors; then the cost of the fill soil. Then you still have to buy all the plants!? Seems very expensive and labor intensive for what you actually get.

    • @dirtlocker
      @dirtlocker  Рік тому +2

      This video shows a very large area that 600 Dirt Lockers can cover. Most projects are not of this size. Our system allows you to create a yielding garden of your choice on a once unusable plot of land. The investment is worth the benefits. When comparing our product price to stone walls to terrace a project of this size you will find we are a more affordable alternative.

    This may be cheaper than an actual retaining wall but having to plant every dirt locker cell doesn’t leave much room for design concepts! This hillside looks like filling them with soil would take nothing short of a Herculean effort. I’m not crazy about the look and believe this hillside would be better to be addressed with boulders.

    • @dirtlocker
      @dirtlocker  Рік тому +1

      For the system to work you only need about 50%-70% of your Dirt Lockers filled with plants. The remaining cells can be designated for a stepping path in a design of your choice. The plants and placement is also part of the design. The possibilities are endless. Dirt Lockers are lighter than boulders and therefor an easier alternative for homeowners looking to landscape their hillside on their own.

      @@dirtlocker - I’ll just say that I have yet to see a finished product that I was very impressed with and boulders would look more natural!
