For me Malayankunju was the story of how a guy suffering from depression and frustration about his life isolating himself from fellow human beings , gets a chance to go into a womb again, meets his father .. struggles his way out with a child's cry as the direction or light to crawl out as a new born human as pure as a baby

Well put 🙌👍. White Validation is still prevalent in our society. I am sure the same people after 5 years will say Mahaveeryar is "Samayam thetti Vanna Movie" just like we praise bharathan nowadays. And talking about Nivin, i really love his works. He really put effort and also take risks to bring quality content over the table rather than playing safe.

I feel the art direction is also good. Transformation of Siddiq's character is scary. This is a movie which starts on a lighter note and fills with heaviness in the heart towards the end (that is the case atleast for me). Hats off to Abrid Shine and team.

People boycotting theaters, has nothing to do with Mahaveeryar. If people like a movie they will watch it, if they don't like it they won't. It is the same everywhere.

ur opinion on mahaveeryar being underappreciated is right..but the reason for that is not an excess of mass entertainers ( which is actually lacking nowadays in mollyood) but due to an excess of realistic dramas/feel good comedies ...the actual problem is that the movies r small concept movies which r not all larger than life ...directors r playing it safe by focusing on only neighbourhood or countriyside stories or stories enclosed in small spaces... when is the last time we got a movie which had different countries as its setting... its not the genre , but a lack of high concept movies which is the problem.

Also the fact that, Fahad is stuck inside the debris showcases a parallel between a child inside a mother's womb and his situation. Both of them fight for survival , to get out of their closed environment. Moreover, the one which makes him upset is the first thing that he does when he's stuck. Call out for help. Symbolising the baby's cry 😭. So well written and using his father as a tool of confidence to live and the undertone caste theme is too good. Fahad is a shape shifter and i adore his dedication towards the craft. The cinematography, sound design and lighting too was fab. Music no need of any mentions ❤️. Fahad and Mahesh's combo is always good to watch. Loved it.

Went to watch malayankunju with my family last night, and I can't seem to find even a single tiny flaw in the film. The music of ARR was the anchor of the film and FaFa just produced another masterclass of a performance. But what I actually found astounding was the cinematography. There were so many shots that were so skillfully shot that even my nan, who never talks about the technical aspects of a film, wondered how they shot such scenes. Went in there with high expectations, and it didn't disappoint me one bit.

Really liked Mahaveeryar as it makes us think. It's not the usual events happening in an order and having a result at the end, it doesn't even resolve everything in the end, but there are so many things we can take away from it.
1 Judiciary is always on the side of the powerful people, in the first half, the judge was impartial just looking at facts but by the second, he is just a servant of the "State" (King) who doesn't even hesitate to use cruelty to withhold his kind of justice.
2The plaintiff became the defendant as the judge deftly changed the case as the fault of the girl and her father and friend
3 A person can be made to do something not by forcing them or punishing them but can be also by soft handling and making them enjoy the process.
4 Girls/women are treated differently in a courtroom most of the time, they will be stripped naked ( with invasive questions mostly) , judged for their behaviour and even though not guilty, punished.
Many points can be added like this, it's a movie having many layers which makes us think.

As a Malayali, I have not watched Malayankunju but watched Mahaveeryar and I must say Mahaveeryar is worth your time and mindspace. It basically holds up a mirror to the society and asks how well we know ourselves. Needless to say, we are divided as both the audience and subject, the individual and the society when it comes to matters of privacy and the state. It's not a hard subject to decipher but will keep you pondering on what your mind makes of it. Sometimes simplicity is in the sophistication, and this movie is a prime example of contradicting thoughts trying to make pacer with the viewer.

    MALAYANKUNJU
This is not a review of this brilliantly made cinema, but how it left me in total shambles, broken, disturbed yet in pure awe of how a cinema can stir up so much emotions. I'm inconsolable even after hours of watching it. After a very long time a movie made me feel this. Probably this is what a powerful storytelling is.. If you think this is just a survivor's story then you are in for a huge surprise. The true hero is the screenplay ofcourse no doubt about it. FaFa as always breathes life to the character, as you start watching Anil Kuttan's life unfold from a viewer's perspective you can't remember how and when you become HIM and start seeing things from his eyes.Your life blends into his, and how (?) this transition is so natural that words fall short. That's the brilliance of the screenplay, that they don't push Anil Kuttan's life down your throat with forced cliches. It slowly gets into your system and starts playing with your mind. You start making sense of why he is the way he is...? Why certain things that's normal to others irritate only him...? It is so easy to just dismiss someone as rude, heartless or crazy until you step into his shoes. This is what this film did to me, the very thing that we detest becomes the only thing you want, even if it's for just a milli second that's the ONLY thing you want. When you earnestly go chasing something in order to save, and that becomes the very thing that saves you. And when you realise all along it was just doing that, OMG I don't know, how to put it, I think it just gave answers to all my quests in life. How well everything around is orchestrated just to help us, all the way...
I don't know who have already watched this film, didn't have this effect... it's ok.. That's what art is. It speaks differently to different people. A creator may have produced his work because of a certain inspiration he got. I truly believe, when you follow your inspiration and do something with complete heart and soul it touches lives, in so many different ways which the creator himself would've never imagined. Thank you for this brilliance #Malayankunju team. Thank you for following your inspiration and giving us this film. Thank you #anmol #trp for suggesting this film. Thank you Amazon Prime. Thank you internet. Thank you to my device. Thank you for this time and space and for everything that made it possible for me to experience Malayankunju.

The film blew me mind by the amount of discussion on laws , rights , judicial treatment and how power manifests in it. I still am left thinking more and more about it and it keeps rewarding with new revelations. System, law, morality, politics and human behaviour being painted into one large picture. It surely does have its faults in some places but the concept and the effort behind it is almost unbelievable. Simply Wow!

Hi Jammy, I've been following your channel since about the time the pandemic took over the world for a shock & most were forced to spend time at home & binge watching tons of series & movies regardless of language was one of the ways to spend time. And I must say your channel did give me insights to what to expect from movies of different language & genre!! Mahaveeryar is one such movie that I look forward to watch soon especially after you mentioned how the loose ends are left for viewers to connect the dots is one definite way to keep the audience keep thinking of the movie even after they're out of the screening.
I'm a native Bangalorean & most of my childhood was spent watching classic hindi & latest kannada movies everytime I could.
It's during my early teen I was fascinated to understand about a couple of psychological movies in kannada particularly made by Director/Actor Upendra who had marked a new wave introducing new style of screenplay in Kannada. I've always wondered, had these movies released during this age of internet with wider access to contents, would've received more accolades & I strongly believe his movies were way ahead of the time & the use of social media could only help reach them more viewers even now which could be made possible with your channel.

When I saw the reaction of the audience of the movie 'Mahaveeryar', I felt that the Malayali audience are so idiotic.I used the word ``idiotic'' a bit bad, but I can't help but feel so bad because this movie got so much negative response like so many people told that they fell asleep during the second half of the movie . What can I say, at least common sense? For degrading such a good movie, it is true that there is less spoon feeding in the movie, but the making of it is nothing in such a way that you cannot understand what this movie is discussing. I'm not posting this movie because of fanism or nothing, but when I saw the response of the audience, I felt that the people doesn't matter the topic which this movie is discussing and I swear that unnecessary degrading is happening against this movie , because I have seen that much stupid comments in the comment sections of the videos regarding the movie Mahaveeryar. So please don't spoil this movie. Please watch this incredible piece of art in theatres and make it a huge success 🙏🙏🙏. Hats off Abrid Shine, Nivin Pauly, M.
