Growing up in the 90s listening to country, Terri Clark, Randy Travis, George Strait and Brooks and Dunn were my favorite singers. Country music just isnt the same
1996: Needs more cowbell, Terri. This lovely Canadian joined in with a bunch of young women singers in the 80's and 90's to break up the boys' club, at least for awhile. The song's a classic; written by the late Warren Zevon and first made famous by Linda Ronstadt in 1978's "FM".

The moment you realize that Terri’s version was a cover of the late great Warren Zevons original. Warren was a master of his craft and Terri did an outstanding job with this cover
She lampshaded this on Saturday (Nov 11, 2023, performance in Calgary’s Jubilee Auditorium), saying she “probably would have more hits if it weren’t for”… and then she proceeded to do a spot on impression of Shania Twain singing “Any Man of Mine”
"covered linda better", what? This wasn't even written by Linda. This was done by the late and great warren zevon and it was covered twice by two female country singers.
@Terri Clark if it is really you I would love to chat. I miss 90s country so very much. I am 38 now and still handsome as ever LOL but you were a huge crush of mine back in 1996 because it was rumored that you chew tobacco. :)

I'm a lost boy of Sudan and I never had a childhood. We left home around December, 1987 and we trekked from Bor, Sudan(by then) but South Sudan now) to Pinyodou, Ethiopia. Surviving only by peanut butter and dried corn and our brothers died on the way. Life, the reason to keep on going....
Yep, Terri remembered doing an interview for Billboard magazine and told it about hearing Linda's version of the song at a local gym she was exercising at, and thought "What a cool song! What a great country record that could make! I started doing it live, and it worked."
Fantastic - this was originally a somewhat difficult song to appreciate, because the words were surely designed to reflect how the female subject was badly treated by men. However with this video Terri comes out a winner by simply putting up with the men and then driving off only after SHE has chosen the man she wants! Well done Terri - now the song is not just a great tune but it turns out well.
@Robert Green Actually, the song was written by a man, Warren Zevon in the 70s ("Lawyers, Guns & Money", and "Werewolves Of London"), who did a lot of "tongue in cheek" songs. It's abt being depressed, & wanting to kill himself (railroad tracks), but even failing at that. Then he refers to an abusive relationship, & an S & M experience. The lyrics were cleaned up for Linda Rondstat's version, & 10 yrs later, for Terri's. Of the 3, I like Terri's best 😄
There is a lot that I like here... Great song and voice, lots of energy, fun, smiles, classic cars and yeah some handsome men that are chasing the gorgeous Terri!
who knows that this song is actually a remake? Originally "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" ; Single by Linda Ronstadt ; from the album Simple Dreams ; B-side, "Simple Man Simple Dream" (or "Blue Bayou") ; Released, January 10, 1978.

Everybody talks about Linda Ronstat as "country" but Linda was one of the pioneers of crossover from country to classic rock and it's well documented, especially back when the Eagles and other bands were getting started. I remember this some from a small (but chunky) FM radio i carried around as a kid in the late 70s, i think 1978 because Star Wars had come to the local drive-in (in 1977) theaters the year before and there was always a wait so they played classic rock and this was one of the songs that played during the wait before the movie started. I believe that this song was originally sang by Warren Zevon or maybe he wrote it, i can't fully remember.

Thanks God for UA-cam and internet radio stations where it is possible to listen to country music from the 90's.
200% agree!
I feel the same
I want it to go back how it sounded then
Yes the best music ever. Even my mom agreed with me on that she said it was the best decade for country music.

Warren zevon also.
It is a Warren Zevon song
Clark, Tillis & Bogus all singing together is real country - such a great concert!!!
Not country actually. Written by Warren Zevin who sings Werewolves of London.
Yeah, I bet that was an excellent concert!!!
Heard this over the weekend at a restaurant while out of town & now I don't wanna stop listening

Such a clear voice and a strong woman 👩
She is really tall. At least 6'0". Very pretty..

Nobody (NOBODY!) can touch Linda Ronstadt's cover. She could (until the 21st century) have sung the phone book, and it would have sounded amazing.
At that time, No internet, no smart phones, I used to listen on radio and used to write it's lyrics to sing later
What a golden days.❤❤❤
Only older relatives around to tell you the song was a remake: Warren Zevon (writer 1976), Linda Ronstadt (1978).
So true. Waiting for the hits to play again so you can get the lyrics you missed!

Who knows for someone from Canada she can hold her own in Nashville
