GOOD MORNING to the whole Raiti's Rides family! This is the FIRST DRIVE you have been waiting for! Please make sure you post your honest thoughts about the Prius in the comments section because I can't wait to see what you have to say.. If you like the video review Lori & I did please share it with others. Your support and help means the world to us and goes a long way!
I never considered purchasing a Prius but Toyota did an awesome job with this generation. I can't wait to see what they're going to do with the next gen Camry!
@@RaitisRides DAMMIT... I can't believe Im saying this but as a manual transmission lover, I'm really liking this new Prius. They hit so many marks and it looks so freakin sexy I'm so tempted!!! Can't wait for the Prime review 👍👍
I actually like it in this color believe it or not! I can see maybe leasing one or just flat out owning. The design is very nice! They really took their time and listened to their customer base and challenged the competition! Great Job Raiti!!! As always! - Eric
i can honestly say i was that person saying i’d never buy a prius. but seeing it remodeled, i’ve never been more interested. truly a game-changer. thank you SO much for this review
I'm so excited! I ordered a 2022 Prime in the summer which was supposed to be delivered by now. But when I saw the redesigned Prius I was blown away! Switched my order to a 2023 XSE which hopefully will be delivered by summer 2023 🙏🏻
In Japan, we ALREADY are being told the waiting list is going to be 2 years+… My local dealership chain of 40 stores is getting quote for 50 (fifty!!) Priuses they can accept during the initial preorders (coming up on Dec 20th is seems). One Prius per store! Insanity. But keeping fingers crossed for everyone! US might be getting things faster because configurations are preset (vs Japan where every car is order-built)
@@macdee1337 Damn that's insane! 2+ Years is just completely nuts. When I talked to my dealer he said he would think a delivery for summer 2023 was possible. However I'm pretty sure it won't work out for that date. I'm pretty sure my delivery will be by the end of 2023 or beginning 2024. FINGERS CROSS FOR YOU GUYS IN JAPAN🙏🏻🤞🏻
They really hit a home run. I don’t think I’ll ever be a fan of the stuck up flat screen on the dash as opposed to the more integrated look (it’s just preference I know. That said, that digital instrument cluster is dead sexy, no other way to describe it!
Seriously considering this for my next car. Did a road trip from Tampa to Maine in Aug and rented a previous gen. Loved the efficiency but hated the styling and lack of power. Seems like Toyota fixed both of those and then some!
Wow! 😮 👏🏼 remarkable exterior design. Never thought I’d say this, but I would definitely consider this an alternative everyday driver. In terms of design, this is far more appealing than other eco friendly/EV out right now, in my opinion. I love the way it looks, hats off to Toyota for nailing the design!
Nice review! Some corrections: The “B” gear mode is not for normal driving, but mainly for going down hills to save your brakes. It maximizes regenerative braking (even when brake pedal is not pressed), but the normal drive mode also has regenerative braking when using the brake pedal (and even slightly when just coasting).
Most of the advantages of an electric car with none of the negatives, and decent styling! This one will break records sales wise… especially as we go deeper and deeper into the recession.
Great review as always. You’re definitely one of the most educated when it comes to cars in general; which shows in small details such as knowing engine configurations, technology, aerodynamics, etc.
This is the one I was waiting for. Toyota has naied it with this model. A couple of pointers: IMHO, the hybrid version is the best value - really good fuel economy. I was never a fan of plug-in hybrids. Also, while it is roomy and good enough for the majority of folks, if you are tall the rear headroom can get tight. In the US, at least my American friends have more model choices, in Canada it's more limited. I think you;re right with the front emblem, it should have the other badges with the gunmetal colour. I don't mind the fender flares being the black - they're not huge and seem to fit in smoothly. No rear wiper blades but it doesn't need one.
Why not the plugin version is not reviewed? Where is the prime? and in this review car which is non-plugin hybrid, it looks like there is still a full EV mode? how long it lasts (range) in that mode until the engine kicks in?
They did a nice job on this one, that gas mileage is great, I might have to check one out. I don't even mind the steering wheel, LOL. Another Great review as always !!!!
I love the new design. Especially that ambient light bar. I don't know why I really like that. Although, I think the lack of a spare tire should be worth two zonks.
Never really cared for the Prius until this model came out. Seriously considering purchasing. Great job with the review. I'm at that age where I get your comparisons to the games consoles you mentioned. 😁
I think the metallic grey wheel liners create the visual effect of making the wheels appear larger when not looking directly at the wheels. Because the wheels are already oversized, this is not necessary.
I'm old school, I drive a 67 Ford f100 daily and I like all the chrome you can get. Black and gray on everything really cheapens the look and also looks like everything else on the road.
As a happy owner of a 2nd generation (2007) Prius, I've considered every subsequent generation's design to be progressively worse - tortured and fussy. This new design, however, is a welcome return to a simpler, sleeker look. I'll have to check one out firsthand. Nice review - my first time on your channel.
Great review!!! I have a 2008 Prius with 178,000 miles and it is still going strong…….This I have to admit is just an absolute game changer for this 2023 Gen 5!! I certainly was not expecting Toyota to take the Prius in this direction….I am definitely drawn to this vehicle!! I WANT ONE!😎👍
I would consider getting the limited, because I want a good travel car/hybrid that gets around 50mpg and has decent back seat room. But I’m cheap and might get a used Prius, as prices will drop. Great review!! I like that paint color!!
Just buy new Michael. It’s used as soon as those tires hit the pavement! Hahaha and instead of saying you are cheap I’d say you are probably wise with your cash like i am! Which is why we have a lot in the bank. We aren’t spenders. I hate having to spend.
I do not want a 10 speed auto. The Toyota hybrid drivetrain is fantastic, it's fast, reliable, and smooth. I don't care that it "drones," I know what it's doing, it's working the way it should. If I want to shift gears I'll ride my Ducati. I can't wait to get stuck in traffic in a car designed to get stuck in traffic.
The greatest, and sexiest hybrid on the planet. I can't wait to own one. Thank you Toyota for keeping the Prius going, and thank you Joe for this wonderful video of my favorite car. ON THROTTLE!!!!
First zonk. The square front plate bump. Can't get it out of my head. Would have looked much sharper with out it. My state does not require a front plate either. Square bump takes away from the slicing through the air knife look. Second zonk. The loud engine drone noise on acceleration. Sounds just like my 2007 2nd gen Prius that I have now. It's long ago been paid off. Do I get the new Prius and end up with car pmts again for a car I'm not totally happy with or stick with my paid off old reliable Prius and keep looking? My excitement for this has cooled off slightly a little now. I'm more interested in the cool vented seats but the LE version probably will not have them. I like the high mileage of the LE though. Much improved appearance on the outside. I'll wait to see how the prime drives and sounds. I'm looking for a quieter cabin than what my 2nd gen has now. If I'm going to have car pmts again I want to be able to check off more boxes. We'll see. Really have come to value your reviews. I also like reading the constructive comments. They give me food for thought.
I've lived in states requiring a front license plate but have never had one on my cars and never been an issue. It ruins the front end look, so glad you pointed this out on the Prius. Bizarre why they didn't make any modifications as you stated as that block looks like a cheap afterthought on an otherwise incredible car.
It's all about money and control with those states. It DOES make a vehicle look ridiculous and cheap with a front license plate, especially with sports and luxury cars.
I hope you will evaluate and compare the ride and performance of the Prime with 17" and 19" wheels. This will be the decisive factor in which trim I will buy!
How is the visibility from left to right at the windshield with the pillars so far forward? I have a Honda Fit and hate the blind spot from left to right at these same forward style pillars .
I just placed my order for one several days ago. Never thought in a million years I'd ever even consider one let alone buy one. It will make a good roommate for my also on order Beck 550 Spyder coming this summer. I'm not telling any of my friends I have a Prius coming because of all the flack I'd most likely get. But as a daily driver, what's not to like? Only thing that detracts overall is the steering wheel which is really ugly and the instrument display.
Great review. Thanks. One question I have is about the ventilated seats. Living in CA, I've said my next car must have ventilated seats for July-October. Did you get a chance to sample this feature on your model?
If I might add sir, I have ventilated seats in my new Mazda CX-5, and I’m in California. I also told myself I wanted wanted ventilated seats in my next car, and now I have that next car as I mentioned. Well I find that the vehicles air conditioning is so strong that I don’t need the ventilated seats. I’ve used them for testing purposes a few times and they are almost unnecessary even in the California heat. I just spent the summer in San Antonio Texas and I didn’t use them there either. Now I’m thinking I bought features I wanted and didn’t need. They work great but I forget I have them and the a/c does a wonderful job. Just my own experience in a different car but in the same hot environment. Hope that gives you some other vantage point.
The thing with hybrids are, when you get to greater than 40 mpg, you really don't feel tethered to the gas stations. You are visiting them 2x a month. When you idle in a hybrid, your engine is shut off and silent, no pollution. When you need to move, the torque is instant. Note: I am only referring to Toyota and Honda versions. Probably FORD also since it is was Toyota technology
The moment I jumped on YT I see a slew of 2023 Prius reviews. I am watching Raiti's Rides review first. Looking forward to see where I can stow some Skittles.
Digging it! Definitely better in this color. I am a staunch believer in the roles Hybrids play to get us to a full BEV world Oh btw the front fascia to me has a hammerhead effect with the way the sheet metal wraps around the front headlights
Don’t like the center screen’s white background 13:40; too distracting (contrast with black interior is too stark) and ugly. Is there a dark mode option for that center screen, to improve the look and not be so distracting? Driver side display 18:12 - in a de facto dark mode - looks much better!
@@esteban1487 there no way I’d buy one either. Have you studied Biden’s legislation? He mandated car manufacturers have switches in electric/hybrid cars that can turn them off remotely. In other words it’s a way to keep people off the roads when they want us locked down again in the future. It’s all about control, not about keeping the emissions down. All the government officials and activists wouldn’t fly around the country and the world in private jets if they really cared about the environment. They want to keep us down, and they can live extravagantly. I’ve studied this stuff and listened to experts extensively. Don’t be fooled by their climate push. That’s all fake. It’s about money and control and power. That’s why they are pushing electrics. Plus you need a spare tire in a car.
I spent the whole time trying to figure out where in SD this was, definitely had the feeling it was North County once I saw Villa De La Valle. Lots of people take those roads to the Cars and Coffee they have every Saturday at Rancho Santa Fe
I'm sick of the dealer markups. I hope that with the rising interest rates and dealer markups, demand will decrease to bring these ridiculous prices back down.
I would most definitely get the base model of this thing. Honestly, as somebody who has a 717 hp dodge hellcat with 12 miles a gallon, I’ve got everything I need when it comes to performance Now I want another car, which is the extreme opposite of my hellcat. A base model Prius

@@2004cyrus Thanks for sharing your experience. Good to know!
@@thorchallgren welcome TC
The thing with hybrids are, when you get to greater than 40 mpg, you really don't feel tethered to the gas stations. You are visiting them 2x a month. When you idle in a hybrid, your engine is shut off and silent, no pollution. When you need to move, the torque is instant. Note: I am only referring to Toyota and Honda versions. Probably FORD also since it is was Toyota technology
This is so very true!
Not to mention Joe biden's gas ⛽
I love ❤️ it !!
THANKS
I am so happy that you are happy with it! You are so very welcome.
Thank god for these UA-cam car reviews… makes buying a car these days so much easier
I really appreciate you saying that!
Love your videos , been waiting on this one !!! The new Prius is crazy !
Thank you for being so supportive Preston! I am glad that you are digging the new Prius!
Those trunk and hatch area side cavities are to accommodate golf bags. I love your work and the videography is top notch. 😊
I need guacamole filled Twinkies
Doesn't everyone.
The moment I jumped on YT I see a slew of 2023 Prius reviews. I am watching Raiti's Rides review first. Looking forward to see where I can stow some Skittles.
Thanks for having my back and being so supportive!
Digging it! Definitely better in this color. I am a staunch believer in the roles Hybrids play to get us to a full BEV world
Oh btw the front fascia to me has a hammerhead effect with the way the sheet metal wraps around the front headlights
Same here! Great thoughts!
Never thought I would like a Prius.
You are not alone!
Still waiting for a Twinkie powered Prius but until then this will do 👌
Now we are talking! You are awesome man! Thanks for making me laugh!
@@RaitisRides nah you are the king of legit reviews and legit laughs fr
@@RemyBonnici That means the world my friend!
@@RaitisRides Atari ftw ... well 35 years ago but appreciate the retro memories! Respect my man 💪
Don’t like the center screen’s white background 13:40; too distracting (contrast with black interior is too stark) and ugly. Is there a dark mode option for that center screen, to improve the look and not be so distracting?
Driver side display 18:12 - in a de facto dark mode - looks much better!
I still wouldn't buy one, but I must say this Prius is quite an improvement in many ways.
Those are my thoughts exactly Mark!
Why wouldn't you buy one?
We love you my twinkie friend! Always see your videos ,happy holidays from Lake County FL ❤️
Happy Holidays to you! Thank you fir tuning in!
Was waiting for this one😊
I know it is worth the wait!
I spent the whole time trying to figure out where in SD this was, definitely had the feeling it was North County once I saw Villa De La Valle. Lots of people take those roads to the Cars and Coffee they have every Saturday at Rancho Santa Fe
I can totally see that!
this car looks great! would love to buy one but I know they will be hard to find once they come out
It will be interesting to see if Toyota can keep up with demand!
I'm sick of the dealer markups. I hope that with the rising interest rates and dealer markups, demand will decrease to bring these ridiculous prices back down.
@@NattyGymBro we can hope so. My local Mazda dealers just eliminated the dealer adjustments. All 3 of them in San Antonio Texas.
I would most definitely get the base model of this thing. Honestly, as somebody who has a 717 hp dodge hellcat with 12 miles a gallon, I’ve got everything I need when it comes to performance
Now I want another car, which is the extreme opposite of my hellcat. A base model Prius
I was almost sold until I saw the interior. Seems like a lot of missed opportunities by Toyota.
That is where things go a tad sour.
For example...
Or they leaving that for the next edition
That bz4x steering wheel and column looks absolutely awful. I'd say almost objectiveyl awful... 😐 It sticks out like a sore thumb.
The metallic black on the fender looks good !
I’m glad you like it.
Twinkies and golfball companies should be looking out for you
I like the way that you think!
