S tou lednicí to nechápu. Jste 2. Normálně ta "velká" lednice stačí i čtyřčlenné rodině. Asi to bude tím, že Češi chodí nakupovat skoro denně a ne jednou týdně. To už mi přijde trochu za hranou mít něco otevřeného v lednici týden, pokud to není třeba kečup.
Třeba táta to tak dělá že si navaří kotel něčeho a pak to žere tejden, většinou se to vyhodí dřív než se to s ní, proto je tahle strategie na hovno. Já se snažim kupovat hlavně věci co vydržej a věci co nevydržej sníst aspoň co nejdřív a nekupovat toho zbytečně moc.

I am still working hard with my Czech teachers online and one of my teachers said that in just about a month, I'm already at an A2 level, so I'm happy! You are right no mountains in Praha but hop in a car and in an hour and a half you are in another world. Venezuela sounds like a nice country, maybe one day I will make it there. Despite having no sea, there is the National Czech Navy with few cruisers and even submarines. Don't ask me why... there are rumours that all the submarines have actually wheels because here in Czechia, there is literally no water deeper than 2 meters for them to be used in.

Visiting your friends houses is super common in all the slavic countries. Me and my friends are visiting each other all the time, even our parents do. And yes we also go out very often, as well. Most of the people does it this way. So I would say you've just became a part of a specific social group with different habits or I dunno why:D
Hey! About the washing machines - it's actually pretty common to have a top loader here (search for "pračka s vrchním plněním"), you can choose between top and front loader usually. Front loader is better in my opinion, because you can easily move your washed clothes into your laundry basket... or that basket you use for your washed clothes and then go and put them on dryer to let them air dry. As most of the Czechs do.

Nr 9: No ocean. Man its rough i feel it. Grew up right by the beach. Probably the thing i miss most and that bothers me the most on a deeper level. And no, the ponds are not a substitute.
First of all, the centre part of most European towns are relatively small, so are the houses. That is why appliances are small. Second, you can buy your (fresh) food daily, so there is no need to keep much food in the fridge. But there are big appartments and houses with gardens in Prague. Washing machines are front loaders so you can put the dryer, or anything else, on top of the washing machine. A family of two, do you wash more than 5 kg laundry? Why don't you like to use buses? The ride is less comfortable, but it is not bad either. And buses have a more dense network, so you can come closer to your destination.
Well you are right about almost everything. But nevertheless despite the house being outside of Prague the kitchen is still tiny in comparison. I have never found a house here with a big kitchen and fridge and so. The laundry machine you are so right. Same dream here, really, for quite a few people. It just takes money. 🤷🏼♂️ It’s not as if the fringes of Prague (and some inner areas too) and of other cities would not be nice family homes. It’s not as if there were no commuter suburbs around Prague and a few other cities. (What we don’t build here would be the tiny cardboard homes that fall apart with the next windstorm ; or the super-narrow row houses, with some rare but cute exceptions.)
The small fridge is because you have shops on every corner and do daily fresh shopping anytime on anyplace, so you dont need to go once in a week by car to the mall and bring back home 20 bags.
I like my 20 bags. It’s cheaper. We eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day at home! So that’s why maybe. Also as I mentioned before we keep many fruits and veggies in the fridge cause we like them cold. Like apples oranges tomatoes plums!.. they last longer and I love them cold

I agree buses are not the best and not the most comfortable but they get you pretty much everywhere. Even if you live in the total uptown of city you´ll get there. And in Prague there are many lanes for buses so u will not stay in a traffic jam. And its same with trams.
I always prefer train for longer distances and tram in city, metro is good when you have no time, but riding in tunnels is super boring for me. Buses were ok in the past, but I really don't like new buses where doors are pushing you inside when it's oppening and seats are terribly placed so you can't just sit there and sit whole route, you have to constantly moving because of people wants in or out etc...it's terrible and bus drivers are driving terribly very often, it's like gas, brake, gass, brake...I hate it. But bus is also very often fastest way to get somewhere so sometimes you have to use it. But for more than 30 km I will choose train always if it's possible.
Reason why so many czech ppl are refusing to take their friends into their houses is (specially in prague) they are ashamed. Czech ppl have huge tendecy to look into others lifes and comparing them to themselfs. How wealtyh they are. What they have that you dont. Its a huge part of their mentality to have feeling they have better lives based on materialistic things. I can see that even on myself sometimes. When you switch your whole political ideology you need many years to adapt. 30 years is not enought. 70% of ppl here are still raised by families that grown up in communism and it have a huge impact on how we look at each other and what priorities we have. I dont like to spit on my own nation, cuz whenever its needed we are like one nation and ready to help each other!, but those are some facts i find out in last 22 years of my life here. As a people we can be amazing but as a individuals we are still super selfish and many of us can be ashamed even for we dont have new tv or modern furniture. TLDR: we are amazing nation but as individuals we can be very selfish and we dont like others to success. btw. your fridge issues could be based on your shopping behaves. We are used to go shopping every one or two days so we dont buy our supplies for like week.
As for the coming over, in many cases, it is for comfort. ln panel houses there are thin walls therefore you have to watch the loudness otherwise neighbors complaints and it is annoying. In pub there is no such need plus you have a tap beer and thats always better than bottle. But do not despair. It is quite common to invite friends over weekend to cottage (well uf you have one), buy a keg of beer, everyone bring in some food and make a fire. That is what we do instead.

Yes rivers do help. But the ponds don’t do it for me. Last summer grew frustrated because I couldn’t find a big lake anywhere around Prague. We ended up going to a dam that was ok. Not Lake Michigan but ok 😅

Yes, Czech republic doesn’t have sea, but we have big and quiet deep ponds and dams - Rybník Svět, Rožmberk, Máchovo jezero (yes, it is also pond), Orlík, Slapy....
I find it interesting that you think Czech republic is safe. We czechs don’t think we are like one of the safest countries, but it’s true that I left keys in the door once for the whole day when I wasn’t at home and nobody stole anything. Or if you have a bike you can go to the shop and leave it outside without a lock, nobody is gonna steal it. Though I agree with most of your comments, I have to oppose you in 2 things: First, the tiny fridges - we, the Czechs, rather go shopping more frequently to buy fresh products, that's why we have tiny fridges.. Toploaders not really... We were moving (not anymore) but in the new house there was no washing machine and we wanted an american full size top loader (The ones that actually fill up the tank with water) and no... Only in UK they have some but we had no clue how to import them... And the fridge is the same... My kitchen is so small that I wouldn't even call it kitchen but kitchenette if I would dare to put an american fridge it would take around 30% of the space XD

Hello Arepas, Regarding your point 5. I very strongly believe that you could study to be a doctor and it would be easier than studying to achieve C2 level in Czech (as an adult). Czech is an enigma, a very well constructed encryption code. It has layers upon layers of complexity. One doesn't learn Czech, one deciphers it. From what I've seen most foreigners learn till about A1 and then just give up. I started learning Czech very late in life and didn't give it a dedicated effort, and as a result I didn't progress really far, however I have progressed further than any foreigner with an English background I've ever met in person. What you say about Czechs speaking fast. It's true, and also in a monotone. They're not very emotional people to begin with. But to me it sounds like they are very short on time, all the time, like they are rushing to get their words out. They're kind of anxious, and especially in movie dialogs. It's how they make movies here. I think they speak roughly 4 times faster than what I can understand. So what that means is, I'll put a movie on in Czech with Czech subtitles, and every time someone says something, I need to pause and read the text, then it can mostly make sense. But if I just listened to it without being able to read it, it just sounds like someone hit the fast-forward button. Just one long mess of a sentence with no stops. Bottom line is, watching movies is only good practice for your Czech, if you already know Czech. Otherwise the whole dialog is one long monotone. Even when the subtitles are paused. It doesn't mean I can always just quickly read it. It means I have to stop and calculate. Step 1. Identity words I know, Step 2: Find the words I don't know. Step 3 : Check cases, genders -> determine object / subject or other modifiers to the sentence, if a modifier is found, then apply logic to determine what tense the statement is in. There are some modifiers like "By" which means the statement is written as past tense but actually is meant for future tense, so relying on l at endings isn't reliable, because this modifier again flicks the logic. Now if I don't know a word, and that happens almost every time someone says something, then I have to try and prioritize it. So it gets weighted, if it's the first time I heard such a word, it's forgotten. If it starts coming up a lot, then it starts getting weight. And only then if it's something I'll actually use. And then some words just come easily because they're so quirky, even if I'll virtually never hear that one useless word again. All in all it's a serious thing. I would say even climbing mount Everest would be easier than learning Czech. By the way, for all those people who do 1 lesson a week - It will take you 22 years to learn Czech. If you want to see any real progress, you need to become completely obsessed with the language and every single day you need to spend at least 1 hour on it. To put things in perspective, the University of Ostrava offers a Czech language program lasting 3 years, this assumes you already have A1, and when you leave you will be at B2 level. 3 years -> 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. So just think of that.
Vivo en Prága 4 y soy Checo. Para viajar al centro (24 minutos) necesito usar bus y después metro. Tranvías están solamente en el centro. Por qué pagar Uber , sí que todos podemos usar autobús cada 3-6 min :) :)

But they are usually meant for tiny apartments where it'd be difficult to load the machine from the side (for example in our bathroom that would not be possible at all) #6 That's funny, I don't live in Prague and when I'm in Prague it's the complete opposite - I try to avoid the metro as much as possible, it's just too scary lol. #9 We (the Czechs) definitely do not feel like we lack ocean. We're quite happy with the water we got :)

Hi There, i just watched your video 'why is Czech so hard' i'm Czech and it was really good, but we dont use cyricice for more than 600 yrs, we then good rid of the double marks like thanks to Jan Amos Komenský and thus old Czech was made, but it is very hard to read. So around 250 a Czech enlightnemnt group reworked the words and that is how we got mote hard but logical language. Also, i just found out about your channel and i just love it. Subscribed 💜

There is no diff in taking tram/trolleybus or bus when moving along the Prague. They all belong to Prague public transport company. It is safe in all of them. Just give it a try ;)
We don´t have a sea (we used to) but you can go to see some dam (Lipno, Orlík) or a pond (Rožmberk). I live in Třeboň and here are ponds everywhere so I am used to live in a country full of water. No ocean but you can swim across and back. :)
Czechs are not inviting people to their homes too often because many Czechs have terrible mess in homes and it looks more like warehouse and not home and they are afraid show it to someone. :-)
@@ArepasforDinner I saw many Czech homes, I would say about 30% of people are living in warehouse with boxes everywhere and cloths on all chairs. We have just too much things and people in Czechia can't remove old not used things, that illnes has name - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diogenes_syndrome I was growing up in such home so I know how it works, pepople are saying constantly "kids did mess here" or "I don't have time today" and milion other excuses why you can't visit our home and it's all lies. :-D Today in adult age I don't want to be like my mom and I am trying to throw away as much as possible. Always when I think I have mess in my home and visit my mom I will realize my home is absolutely ok. :-D
No no no google American top loader. What you guys have is a front loader that you can fill up from the top. Still the body rotates vertically not horizontally. It never fills up with water and they are even smaller than your front loaders
It took me just couple of seconds to find a 15kg top loader laundry machine online and I was looking only at those for below 20k czk. Most of them are smaller because we don't have communal laundry rooms culture in apartment buildings, so we do laundry in our apartments (or houses) more often in smaller amounts. American-style fridges are popular and available in every store. The issue of small appliances in mostly just in cities. In regards to safety - you were showing the ranking of various countries... In fact CZ has for example half the homicide rate of Denmark, lower than almost any place in the EU. Also, when you are just listening and hear "ate dogs everywhere", I had to look at the text to understand it was "Eight: Dogs everywhere".

This oven is so small you can't fit a turkey in... And we just found out that's the only size there is... There's dogs everywhere... I guess having a different accent in english is a thing... The sea is missed, but have you ever see Lipno dam? Or have you ever been in Třeboň region, where is the most ponds in czech republik? It is not so dark and dry here in the landlock desert... :D

If you start in the morning (8:00) and return back in late afternoon (18:00), you can ejoy a lot and be home to catch the news in telly. Not to mention 200km is like 2,5 hour ride by superslowass/safe speed. Other watter activities that came on my mind, directly in Prague - boating on Vltava river, or swimming in aquapalace (or a simple pool). Plenty of both in here. BTW, being carefull is not a bad thing, even in (relatively) safe environment.

Czech top loader is not the same as a basic top loader. Is more like this ua-cam.com/video/xK5jHuWCTc4/v-deo.html that’s a top loader. They take in average 15 to 20 kilos loads and wash more or less in 20 minutes. They fill up the tank with water and have a hook up for hot water so they don’t need to heat it up. They are very efficient in not wasting electricity but they do use doble the amount of water. But only a 1/4 of the electricity
It is funny to see all those cultural differences. For us in Europe, everything in America is unnecessarily big. Big appliances, big houses, big cars... But I understand, that people just get used to once and then it is hard... ;-) one thing I do not understand is that bus thing like I feel on the bus same as in trams. In many other Czech cities, there is no choice because there are no trams or metro, only buses or trolleybuses, which is almost same.
I feel it the other way around. I feel here is unnecessarily small but people just get used to that and then if you give them a house with 3 bathrooms they don’t know what to do haha
I think lots of people in Prague don’t love to take it neither idk why. It’s a bit unpredictable and if you take the wrong one you can end up 30 km from Prague (happened to me)
Já pořád nějak nechápu, proč si v každém druhém videu stěžujete, že máte doma všechno malé a že to je v ČR normální :-). Přestěhujte se do většího bytu nebo domu a kupte si vybavení, které vám bude vyhovovat, ne? Stejně jako v předchozím videu, že čeští muži příliš pijí alkohol...můj muž například alkohol nepije téměř vůbec a mnoho dalších, které znám si dají třeba pivo vyjímečně :-). Nemůžete posuzovat celou ČR a Čechy podle toho, čím a kým se obklopujete :-).
Tak já taky piju tak 2x za rok, ale prostě češi chlastaj, to je objektivní fakt a tak velký pračky, trouby a podobně tady třeba ani nesežene, nebo za velkej příplatek.
I feel you, we have the same type of fridge and even we are only two of us, it's still small. I love to cook and there should always be some basic ingredients to cook something. But 20 kilos washing machine sounds whopping to me :D.
the thing with visiting firends.. I dont know, I dont like going out in public spaces, Iam not that type. Id rather go out in the nature, so I go on trips with friends or we often have sleepovers.. But that might be the thing that most of my friends live in houses, not apartments. because my guess is that apartments are kinda boring. but who knows. maybe just ask your friends :D
I am from Prague, i’ve lived here all my life, and still i am not used to take a bus. I’d rather go by other public transportation like metro or tram and go for 30 mins extra then take a bus.
I try to avoid using buses too, for some reason. not sure I can explain why, I just don't like it. I try to make my root with trams (instead even the metro))) because I enjoy looking out of windows here, the city is gorgeous

We don't like top loaders. They're not even that good tbh. In Australia they use both and top loaders slowly ruined all my clothes, they have higher water consumption so there's no point of having one. Don't really understand what's the problem with buses. I don't like public transport in general but don't see any difference between trams, buses or metro. No ocean/sea is really sad. We're just waiting for the sea level to rise :D Our houses/units are usually not that nice and we couldn't care less to keep them super tidy that's the only reason imho.

I was looking for a front loader and my flat mate wanted top loader, but there was not a single benefit of having top loader. Anyway that's not important. I've never been near to the ocean or sea. I've never saw an ocean or another county (except Germany and Slovakia) and I'm ok with that. We have beautiful lakes on the south of Czechia❤ for example (Svět, the biggest one called Rožmberk etc..) Btw: i love your videos🥰😊
I have travelled since university times quite often,when smaller also with parents,and yet I saw ocean first time when I was 31 two years ago,and that was just because of extra planned trip to Canary Islands. So it sounds a bit funny to me the expression of missing ocean,I think majority of people I know or my relatives have never seen ocean - yet can still travel a lot. I can never get enough of nature in Austria etc..
Well I hate taking a bus too. Im from a small town so I go by a walk everywhere. In Prague I just take a metro. No tram, no bus. I dont know why. I just hate them. :D
Perhaps you are lucky... In Prague new apartments and even not that new you can only find the small type of fridges from Alza... Only 1 friend has a full size american fridge with a water and ice dispenser...

Still quite tiny, just a big pond, though it has beaches, so it’s better than nothing. Lipno is OK in size, but far from Prague, and it can be cold, I think.

Do centru není cestování hromadnou dopravou bez použití busu velký problém, ale více v okrajových částech Prahy už to trochu není možné. Všechno malé v domácnosti není problém, nedokážu si moc představit, jak velký bych potřebovala koš na prádlo, abych naplnila 20kg pračku bílého prádla, možná tak, kdybych prala všechno dohromady... A k tomu oceánu: mě moc nechybí,. Naposledy, když jsem byla u moře, tak se mi povedlo rozříznout si nohu o rozbitou láhev. My jsme rybníkářská země, pamatuju si na "dovolenou" u Macháče, když jsme byly se sestrou děti, jak jsme se vyblbly. Teď když mam chuť si pořádně zaplavat, tak mám naštěstí v blízkosti rodného města přehradu pro rekreační účely, to mi jako moře na léto stačí. :D

Oh, trust me there are 3 seasons in Czech Republic - spring (somewhat cold), summer (barely warm) and autumn + winter (cold and windy). No offense to all Czechs though ;) however, I come from a country with 4 pronounced seasons (4 months each) and this ain't it. The dogs are a weird one for me as well. There are about 100k registered dogs in Prague, it is crazy. Even my husband (Czech) finds is to be too much. Happy Birthday to your husband :)

@@ArepasforDinner Well mother would kill me, If I would mix her and mine or fathers clothes (especially underwear:-). Also you have to still separate whites from colors (no BLM pun intended ;-) so in our family it was always two washing cycles anyway. But about quantity. We have 6 kg washing machine and unless we are laundering bed sets, we are unable to fill it fully. I can not imagine how big should our closets be to have enough clean clothes to produce more than 6 kg laundry per week. Also, 20 kgs of laundry will be quite difficult to hang. We have only common flat with single balcony so 10 kg of laundry is pretty much maximum we can do a time. But I understand, in USA is everything Bolšoj. You need fridges so big, that you can open small food shop with them. You need freezers so big, that you can hide there whole deer. You need houses so big, that you need map to the bathroom. So why i am surprised, that you have washing machines so big that in CR such are used only in industrial cleaning :-D
Rather to have normal size fridge and washing machine than the huge american ones. Americans go shopping once a week buying gigantic size of groceries. Don't find anything better about this
We do a couple of loads of washing a week (including sheets and towels) that will be washed and dry within 2.5 hours. So time is a big factor for us back home. We also grocery shop once a week and fruits maybe twice a week but meat and such once a month so our fridges are bigger.
I recommend you to take some bus that goes through the whole city (136 for example) and just sit and watch. Best way to know Prague ;)

S tou lednicí to nechápu. Jste 2. Normálně ta "velká" lednice stačí i čtyřčlenné rodině. Asi to bude tím, že Češi chodí nakupovat skoro denně a ne jednou týdně. To už mi přijde trochu za hranou mít něco otevřeného v lednici týden, pokud to není třeba kečup.

Třeba táta to tak dělá že si navaří kotel něčeho a pak to žere tejden, většinou se to vyhodí dřív než se to s ní, proto je tahle strategie na hovno. Já se snažim kupovat hlavně věci co vydržej a věci co nevydržej sníst aspoň co nejdřív a nekupovat toho zbytečně moc.

You are right no mountains in Praha but hop in a car and in an hour and a half you are in another world. Venezuela sounds like a nice country, maybe one day I will make it there. Despite having no sea, there is the National Czech Navy with few cruisers and even submarines. Don't ask me why... there are rumours that all the submarines have actually wheels because here in Czechia, there is literally no water deeper than 2 meters for them to be used in.

Most of the people does it this way. So I would say you've just became a part of a specific social group with different habits or I dunno why:D

About the washing machines - it's actually pretty common to have a top loader here (search for "pračka s vrchním plněním"), you can choose between top and front loader usually. Front loader is better in my opinion, because you can easily move your washed clothes into your laundry basket... or that basket you use for your washed clothes and then go and put them on dryer to let them air dry. As most of the Czechs do.

First of all, the centre part of most European towns are relatively small, so are the houses. That is why appliances are small. Second, you can buy your (fresh) food daily, so there is no need to keep much food in the fridge. But there are big appartments and houses with gardens in Prague.
Washing machines are front loaders so you can put the dryer, or anything else, on top of the washing machine. A family of two, do you wash more than 5 kg laundry?
Why don't you like to use buses? The ride is less comfortable, but it is not bad either. And buses have a more dense network, so you can come closer to your destination.
Well you are right about almost everything. But nevertheless despite the house being outside of Prague the kitchen is still tiny in comparison. I have never found a house here with a big kitchen and fridge and so. The laundry machine you are so right. It’s not as if the fringes of Prague (and some inner areas too) and of other cities would not be nice family homes.
It’s not as if there were no commuter suburbs around Prague and a few other cities.
(What we don’t build here would be the tiny cardboard homes that fall apart with the next windstorm ; or the super-narrow row houses, with some rare but cute exceptions.)
The small fridge is because you have shops on every corner and do daily fresh shopping anytime on anyplace, so you dont need to go once in a week by car to the mall and bring back home 20 bags.
I like my 20 bags. It’s cheaper. We eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day at home! So that’s why maybe. Also as I mentioned before we keep many fruits and veggies in the fridge cause we like them cold. Like apples oranges tomatoes plums!.. they last longer and I love them cold

I agree buses are not the best and not the most comfortable but they get you pretty much everywhere. Even if you live in the total uptown of city you´ll get there. And in Prague there are many lanes for buses so u will not stay in a traffic jam. And its same with trams.
I always prefer train for longer distances and tram in city, metro is good when you have no time, but riding in tunnels is super boring for me. Buses were ok in the past, but I really don't like new buses where doors are pushing you inside when it's oppening and seats are terribly placed so you can't just sit there and sit whole route, you have to constantly moving because of people wants in or out etc...it's terrible and bus drivers are driving terribly very often, it's like gas, brake, gass, brake...I hate it. But bus is also very often fastest way to get somewhere so sometimes you have to use it. But for more than 30 km I will choose train always if it's possible.
Reason why so many czech ppl are refusing to take their friends into their houses is (specially in prague) they are ashamed. Czech ppl have huge tendecy to look into others lifes and comparing them to themselfs. How wealtyh they are. What they have that you dont. Its a huge part of their mentality to have feeling they have better lives based on materialistic things. I can see that even on myself sometimes. When you switch your whole political ideology you need many years to adapt. 30 years is not enought. 70% of ppl here are still raised by families that grown up in communism and it have a huge impact on how we look at each other and what priorities we have. I dont like to spit on my own nation, cuz whenever its needed we are like one nation and ready to help each other!, but those are some facts i find out in last 22 years of my life here. As a people we can be amazing but as a individuals we are still super selfish and many of us can be ashamed even for we dont have new tv or modern furniture.
TLDR: we are amazing nation but as individuals we can be very selfish and we dont like others to success.
btw. your fridge issues could be based on your shopping behaves. We are used to go shopping every one or two days so we dont buy our supplies for like week.

As for the coming over, in many cases, it is for comfort. ln panel houses there are thin walls therefore you have to watch the loudness otherwise neighbors complaints and it is annoying. In pub there is no such need plus you have a tap beer and thats always better than bottle. But do not despair. It is quite common to invite friends over weekend to cottage (well uf you have one), buy a keg of beer, everyone bring in some food and make a fire. That is what we do instead.

Yes rivers do help. But the ponds don’t do it for me. Last summer grew frustrated because I couldn’t find a big lake anywhere around Prague. We ended up going to a dam that was ok. Not Lake Michigan but ok 😅

I find it interesting that you think Czech republic is safe. We czechs don’t think we are like one of the safest countries, but it’s true that I left keys in the door once for the whole day when I wasn’t at home and nobody stole anything. Or if you have a bike you can go to the shop and leave it outside without a lock, nobody is gonna steal it. At night you are probably just gonna see homeless people, but they most likely won’t do anything to you if they aren’t drunk

First, the tiny fridges - we, the Czechs, rather go shopping more frequently to buy fresh products, that's why we have tiny fridges..

Toploaders not really... We were moving (not anymore) but in the new house there was no washing machine and we wanted an american full size top loader (The ones that actually fill up the tank with water) and no... Only in UK they have some but we had no clue how to import them... And the fridge is the same... My kitchen is so small that I wouldn't even call it kitchen but kitchenette if I would dare to put an american fridge it would take around 30% of the space XD

Regarding your point 5. I very strongly believe that you could study to be a doctor and it would be easier than studying to achieve C2 level in Czech (as an adult).
Czech is an enigma, a very well constructed encryption code. It has layers upon layers of complexity. One doesn't learn Czech, one deciphers it. From what I've seen most foreigners learn till about A1 and then just give up. I started learning Czech very late in life and didn't give it a dedicated effort, and as a result I didn't progress really far, however I have progressed further than any foreigner with an English background I've ever met in person.
What you say about Czechs speaking fast. It's true, and also in a monotone. They're not very emotional people to begin with. But to me it sounds like they are very short on time, all the time, like they are rushing to get their words out. They're kind of anxious, and especially in movie dialogs. It's how they make movies here. I think they speak roughly 4 times faster than what I can understand.
So what that means is, I'll put a movie on in Czech with Czech subtitles, and every time someone says something, I need to pause and read the text, then it can mostly make sense. But if I just listened to it without being able to read it, it just sounds like someone hit the fast-forward button. Just one long mess of a sentence with no stops.
Bottom line is, watching movies is only good practice for your Czech, if you already know Czech. Otherwise the whole dialog is one long monotone.
Even when the subtitles are paused. It doesn't mean I can always just quickly read it. It means I have to stop and calculate. Step 1. Identity words I know, Step 2: Find the words I don't know. Step 3 : Check cases, genders -> determine object / subject or other modifiers to the sentence, if a modifier is found, then apply logic to determine what tense the statement is in. There are some modifiers like "By" which means the statement is written as past tense but actually is meant for future tense, so relying on l at endings isn't reliable, because this modifier again flicks the logic. Now if I don't know a word, and that happens almost every time someone says something, then I have to try and prioritize it. So it gets weighted, if it's the first time I heard such a word, it's forgotten. If it starts coming up a lot, then it starts getting weight. And only then if it's something I'll actually use. And then some words just come easily because they're so quirky, even if I'll virtually never hear that one useless word again.
All in all it's a serious thing. I would say even climbing mount Everest would be easier than learning Czech. By the way, for all those people who do 1 lesson a week - It will take you 22 years to learn Czech. If you want to see any real progress, you need to become completely obsessed with the language and every single day you need to spend at least 1 hour on it.
To put things in perspective, the University of Ostrava offers a Czech language program lasting 3 years, this assumes you already have A1, and when you leave you will be at B2 level. 3 years -> 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. So just think of that.

Hi There, i just watched your video 'why is Czech so hard' i'm Czech and it was really good, but we dont use cyricice for more than 600 yrs, we then good rid of the double marks like thanks to Jan Amos Komenský and thus old Czech was made, but it is very hard to read. So around 250 a Czech enlightnemnt group reworked the words and that is how we got mote hard but logical language. Also, i just found out about your channel and i just love it. Subscribed 💜

There is no diff in taking tram/trolleybus or bus when moving along the Prague. They all belong to Prague public transport company. It is safe in all of them. Just give it a try ;)

We don´t have a sea (we used to) but you can go to see some dam (Lipno, Orlík) or a pond (Rožmberk). I live in Třeboň and here are ponds everywhere so I am used to live in a country full of water. No ocean but you can swim across and back. :)

Czechs are not inviting people to their homes too often because many Czechs have terrible mess in homes and it looks more like warehouse and not home and they are afraid show it to someone. :-)

I was growing up in such home so I know how it works, pepople are saying constantly "kids did mess here" or "I don't have time today" and milion other excuses why you can't visit our home and it's all lies. :-D Today in adult age I don't want to be like my mom and I am trying to throw away as much as possible. Always when I think I have mess in my home and visit my mom I will realize my home is absolutely ok. :-D

No no no google American top loader. What you guys have is a front loader that you can fill up from the top. Still the body rotates vertically not horizontally. It never fills up with water and they are even smaller than your front loaders

It took me just couple of seconds to find a 15kg top loader laundry machine online and I was looking only at those for below 20k czk. Most of them are smaller because we don't have communal laundry rooms culture in apartment buildings, so we do laundry in our apartments (or houses) more often in smaller amounts. @@ArepasforDinner Yup, but in USA, they are common in many apartment buildings. ANyway, in CZ, you might want to chack out "velkokapacitni", "prumyslove" or profesionalni pracky". Also, ovens 90x50x60 and larger are commonly available.
The sea is missed, but have you ever see Lipno dam? Or have you ever been in Třeboň region, where is the most ponds in czech republik? It is not so dark and dry here in the landlock desert... :D

@@ArepasforDinner Either car or train, even some buses do go there and back. If you start in the morning (8:00) and return back in late afternoon (18:00), you can ejoy a lot and be home to catch the news in telly. Not to mention 200km is like 2,5 hour ride by superslowass/safe speed. Other watter activities that came on my mind, directly in Prague - boating on Vltava river, or swimming in aquapalace (or a simple pool). Plenty of both in here. BTW, being carefull is not a bad thing, even in (relatively) safe environment.

Czech top loader is not the same as a basic top loader. Is more like this ua-cam.com/video/xK5jHuWCTc4/v-deo.html that’s a top loader. They take in average 15 to 20 kilos loads and wash more or less in 20 minutes. They fill up the tank with water and have a hook up for hot water so they don’t need to heat it up. They are very efficient in not wasting electricity but they do use doble the amount of water. But only a 1/4 of the electricity

It is funny to see all those cultural differences. For us in Europe, everything in America is unnecessarily big. Big appliances, big houses, big cars... But I understand, that people just get used to once and then it is hard... ;-) one thing I do not understand is that bus thing like I feel on the bus same as in trams. In many other Czech cities, there is no choice because there are no trams or metro, only buses or trolleybuses, which is almost same.
I feel it the other way around. I feel here is unnecessarily small but people just get used to that and then if you give them a house with 3 bathrooms they don’t know what to do haha
I think lots of people in Prague don’t love to take it neither idk why. It’s a bit unpredictable and if you take the wrong one you can end up 30 km from Prague (happened to me)

Já pořád nějak nechápu, proč si v každém druhém videu stěžujete, že máte doma všechno malé a že to je v ČR normální :-). Přestěhujte se do většího bytu nebo domu a kupte si vybavení, které vám bude vyhovovat, ne? Stejně jako v předchozím videu, že čeští muži příliš pijí alkohol...můj muž například alkohol nepije téměř vůbec a mnoho dalších, které znám si dají třeba pivo vyjímečně :-). Nemůžete posuzovat celou ČR a Čechy podle toho, čím a kým se obklopujete :-).
Tak já taky piju tak 2x za rok, ale prostě češi chlastaj, to je objektivní fakt a tak velký pračky, trouby a podobně tady třeba ani nesežene, nebo za velkej příplatek.
I feel you, we have the same type of fridge and even we are only two of us, it's still small. I love to cook and there should always be some basic ingredients to cook something. But 20 kilos washing machine sounds whopping to me :D.

the thing with visiting firends.. I dont know, I dont like going out in public spaces, Iam not that type. Id rather go out in the nature, so I go on trips with friends or we often have sleepovers.. But that might be the thing that most of my friends live in houses, not apartments. because my guess is that apartments are kinda boring. but who knows. maybe just ask your friends :D

I am from Prague, i’ve lived here all my life, and still i am not used to take a bus. I’d rather go by other public transportation like metro or tram and go for 30 mins extra then take a bus.

Why? In Brno trams are "radial" going through center and (trolley)bus lines are usually going in circles perpendicular to tram lines with exceptions.
I try to avoid using buses too, for some reason. not sure I can explain why, I just don't like it. I try to make my root with trams (instead even the metro))) because I enjoy looking out of windows here, the city is gorgeous

We don't like top loaders. They're not even that good tbh. In Australia they use both and top loaders slowly ruined all my clothes, they have higher water consumption so there's no point of having one.
Don't really understand what's the problem with buses. I don't like public transport in general but don't see any difference between trams, buses or metro. No ocean/sea is really sad. We're just waiting for the sea level to rise :D Our houses/units are usually not that nice and we couldn't care less to keep them super tidy that's the only reason imho.

I was looking for a front loader and my flat mate wanted top loader, but there was not a single benefit of having top loader. Anyway that's not important. You are right, top loaders are not common in czech at all.
I've never been near to the ocean or sea. I've never saw an ocean or another county (except Germany and Slovakia) and I'm ok with that.
We have beautiful lakes on the south of Czechia❤ for example (Svět, the biggest one called Rožmberk etc..)

I have travelled since university times quite often,when smaller also with parents,and yet I saw ocean first time when I was 31 two years ago,and that was just because of extra planned trip to Canary Islands. So it sounds a bit funny to me the expression of missing ocean,I think majority of people I know or my relatives have never seen ocean - yet can still travel a lot. I can never get enough of nature in Austria etc..

Do centru není cestování hromadnou dopravou bez použití busu velký problém, ale více v okrajových částech Prahy už to trochu není možné. Všechno malé v domácnosti není problém, nedokážu si moc představit, jak velký bych potřebovala koš na prádlo, abych naplnila 20kg pračku bílého prádla, možná tak, kdybych prala všechno dohromady...
A k tomu oceánu: mě moc nechybí,. Naposledy, když jsem byla u moře, tak se mi povedlo rozříznout si nohu o rozbitou láhev. My jsme rybníkářská země, pamatuju si na "dovolenou" u Macháče, když jsme byly se sestrou děti, jak jsme se vyblbly. Teď když mam chuť si pořádně zaplavat, tak mám naštěstí v blízkosti rodného města přehradu pro rekreační účely, to mi jako moře na léto stačí. :D

buses are awful in Prague, i'd rather walk, then take a bus :) been leaving in Prague for 3 years :)
Oh, trust me there are 3 seasons in Czech Republic - spring (somewhat cold), summer (barely warm) and autumn + winter (cold and windy). No offense to all Czechs though ;) however, I come from a country with 4 pronounced seasons (4 months each) and this ain't it.
The dogs are a weird one for me as well. There are about 100k registered dogs in Prague, it is crazy. Even my husband (Czech) finds is to be too much.

@@ArepasforDinner Well mother would kill me, If I would mix her and mine or fathers clothes (especially underwear:-). Also you have to still separate whites from colors (no BLM pun intended ;-) so in our family it was always two washing cycles anyway. But about quantity. We have 6 kg washing machine and unless we are laundering bed sets, we are unable to fill it fully. I can not imagine how big should our closets be to have enough clean clothes to produce more than 6 kg laundry per week. Also, 20 kgs of laundry will be quite difficult to hang. We have only common flat with single balcony so 10 kg of laundry is pretty much maximum we can do a time.
But I understand, in USA is everything Bolšoj. You need fridges so big, that you can open small food shop with them. You need freezers so big, that you can hide there whole deer. You need houses so big, that you need map to the bathroom. So why i am surprised, that you have washing machines so big that in CR such are used only in industrial cleaning :-D

Rather to have normal size fridge and washing machine than the huge american ones. Americans go shopping once a week buying gigantic size of groceries. Don't find anything better about this

We do a couple of loads of washing a week (including sheets and towels) that will be washed and dry within 2.5 hours. So time is a big factor for us back home. We also grocery shop once a week and fruits maybe twice a week but meat and such once a month so our fridges are bigger.
