How to fill air in car tyres UK

  • Hi guys,
    In this video, I will show you how to use . It's obvious, and most of you might already know it.
    Using an air pump at a gas station is a convenient and easy way to inflate a tire.
    However, for some, it could be pretty challenging. Or if you are using it for the first time. For example, I once saw an aged person struggling to change the pressure. He thought the machine was broken. I helped him out there but later thought a video might be helpful.
    So How much does it cost to pump air at a gas station? Usually, the machine takes 20p, 50p or a pound.
    I am using Morrison’s gas station pump, which charges 20p per minute
    It usually happens with some; they insert the coin first and then start filling. In that case, the machine could stop while some work is still left. Therefore, I have broken it into a few steps to make it easy.
    1 Select the pressure ( it can be swapped with step 2)
    2. Remove the cap from all the tyres
    3. Insert coin, or you can do contactless( usually 20 p does all the job)
    4. Fill the tyres by slightly pushing the end into the tyre.
    5 Put all the caps back on.

    This is wrong! The recommended tyre pressures are for a COLD tyre, so when you drive to this pump, they're hot. You still have underinflated tyres and will affect your fuel consumption.
    As a guide, if your recommended pressure is 33psi, then refill to 37psi on this machine to compensate for the temperature. When it cools, it will be close to 33.

      I guess you missed the part where I mentioned that the guide I was referring to actually follows the manufacturer's instructions on how to fill your car tyres properly. I wanted to clarify something that I may have missed mentioning earlier.
      Just a quick heads up, though: these instructions are specifically for cold tyres. It's definitely not recommended to fill up hot tyres, so it's best to let them cool down first. Also, if the instruction book mentions anything about extra pressure based on factors like miles per hour or other driving conditions, it's definitely worth taking note of. Hope that clears things up. Well, it doesn't make the video wrong, does it?

      @@Quilwil Yes, it's wrong and I haven't "missed the part" as you didn't follow manufacturer recommendations as you claim. You have literally filmed yourself inflating warm tyres to their cold pressure. Too many people keep doing this and have underinflated tyres, which gives worse fuel consumption and TPMS lights keep coming on where fitted, so don't act as if I'm wrong for mentioning it.

      Omg, what did you eat in the morning 🤣.
      What made you think I filled warm tyres?
      Come on, man, life is too short for arguments, peace ✌️
      Your comment deserves the spotlight. I'll pin it to the top, so everyone can see it and benefit from your valuable input.

      @@Quilwil I'm not trying to be offensive to you or belligerent; I also like pretty Indian ladies and liked your videos on the English and Scottish confusing accents.. I'm simply pointing out that you have made a mistake and showing people "how to" do this will mean they too will have underinflated tyres.
      You have driven the car to the petrol station with the inflation machine, yes? Then it's a warm tyre. You have to do them on a cool morning when the car hasn't been driven that day, or compensate for the extra pressure like so.. ua-cam.com/users/shortsyX3Dbv5TIsM?si=ksaAGAwasT6uww5K
      Thanks for pinning it though and sorry if it came across as argumentative. Honestly, when you next go here after driving, inflate to 37psi and your S80/S90 will get better fuel economy and be near the correct recommended pressure.

      Does it tell you your pressure its at already

    • @Quilwil
      @Quilwil  3 місяці тому

      You don't have to worry about the pressure in your tyres anymore. You see, when you set the pressure, it will be automatically adjusted, ensuring that your tyres are neither overinflated nor underinflated. And if that's not enough, you can also check the pressure with the car kit or at the gas station if they have a pressure gauge.

    Thank you for the video. We went to fill yesterday and thought the buzzing sound of the air is beep. After watching this going back again as i feel tyres are over inflated

    • @Quilwil
      @Quilwil  Рік тому

      Right, it's good to check, just in case. Yes, the machine cannot fill air more than the selected pressure, so if you feel it's overinflated, press the end nicely to the tyre (you’ll notice a buzz or noise if the air is escaping) and wait for three beeps.

    What if the psi is higher for back tyres

    • @Quilwil
      @Quilwil  8 місяців тому

      The manufacturer’s Recommended pressure is normally on the side of the car’s front door, which guides you according to the number of passengers and front and back difference as well.

    How do you know which tyre needs air?

    • @Quilwil
      @Quilwil  5 місяців тому

      If you want to make sure your car's tyres are in good shape, you can use a tyre pressure measuring kit to check the pressure of each tyre individually. But don't worry, most people just fill all the tyres up to the recommended pressure to keep them evenly balanced. Let me know if you have any questions.
