I think ousmanne dembele is a worthy inclusion. In a star studded barca side of recent years, he has looked to be incredibly dangerous and has outshone everyone barring messi at times. In others, like the infamous night at anfield where a corner was taken quickly, he missed an absolute sitter and possibly denied barca a third treble. When injury free, his combination of pace and dribble and a incisive shot can make him truly, brilliant. But his decision making and injury problems always make it seem like he is just on the verge of breaking out, but not quite.
@@andersheinse6728 exactly. Let’s not forget that before Pep Guardiola was appointed Barca first team coach a very young Leo Messi was on the verge falling into this category. Great video, I agree with all your picks and their explanations. In the Chelsea circles there's always been this air of "What if RLC had never played that treacherous mid season friendly in America." Old smoky lungs hated the youth and academy but Ruben forced himself into the team through his performances. Then he went and did his Achilles for a year in that friendly, bringing all his progress to a standstill. A year under Lamps would have been perfect for him. As a Porto supporter, I completely agree with Marega. He used to call him a weaker version of Drogba. Both didn't score a lot of goals but were extremely important for the team for other reasons.
Adama Traore really is an almost perfect player. When i saw him subbed on in the last WC qualifier game against Sweden he looked so dangerous. The speed. The dribbles. The physique. If he had a better manager to work with you’d see a much better player than you do at wolves.. like let’s face it any player with a bit of talent will look god awful at wolves
I'm from Porto and I totally agree with that argument for Marega... He was great for us, his work rate was always amazing every game even if he didn't score you would see him go up and down the field many times even defending inside the box and he does things at a physical level that no one else can, but he lacks a lot of technique, decision making and composure, so even though we loved him and we always will we can never compare him to the likes of Falcão, Lisandro Lopez, Benny McCarthy, Jardel or even Jackson Martinez who was top quality during his prime at Porto before the injuries EDIT: And I can go as far as saying that if Marega had a bit of all these critical attributes that he lacks he would probably be the greatest the footballer in the world. I know this sounds a bit crazy but most of Porto fans would agree and would think like this when we say him play, but that's why he never went for greater heights I would say, because as it stands he is just another common player (not common at all but you get it)
The first name I thought of was Morata. When he doesn't have the time to think, he can be brilliant, but give him time to make a decision and he crumbles like a gluten-free biscuit.
Exact same as Moura, when he just has a quick pop shot, he will probably score or work the keeper, but when he has time to pick his place and shoot he misses the target or has a tame shot
How about a similar list about the best footballers who are not brilliant - I'm thinking like the Nevilles. Never the most talented players but their drive, will to win etc more than made up for it.
Gary Neville is in the top 5 RB's to play in the premier league. Rated by anyone of a certain age who actually knows about football. Brilliant delivery, not pacey but not slow, great anticipation and tackling, mentally strong and consistent. Everyone rated Neville.
@@whenyoulookintoit9356 I know but he has always said that he was never the most talented player. That's the sort of thing I was thinking. What players got the absolute most out of less "raw talent". I'd potentially say Claude Makelele would probably count in this too
Yeah I get what you mean, just always liked Neville as a player lol could say Paul Lambert, signed for Dortmund from Motherwell, played 40 odd games in one season, marked zidane out of the final and won the champions league.
We had a potential world beater at Sunderland called Kieron Brady. Exploded on to the scene, made mugs of defenders with his close control and scored a couple of spectacular goals. But discipline let him down off the pitch and he burned bright but short
I am a Borussia Mönchengladbach Fan and I would really like to mention Michaël Cuisance. The Kid was named Fan's player of the year in his first season (I think he was around 17). He would have developed into a top tier player if he had more discipline and respect. In the end he went to Munich and is sitting on the bench untill the end of days. 100% wasted potential.
Adama Traore came to mind for me. Can dribble through the whole opposition but cannot put the ball in the net. Edit: welp he was number 1 on the list so apparently he also came to your mind.
I'd love to see an offshoot of this Players who had the potential to be world class but due to mismanagement (so NOT injuries) didn't Some good examples could be Martial, Bakayoko or debatably Renarto Sanches
Add zaha to this list. Hes had some decent seasons for palace but was never consistently lethal or composed in front of goal that took him to the next level. It’s a shame.
Tom rogic at celtic. Truly world class technically but looks like he's walking on everest by the 65th minute and gets injured simply thinking about an injury
This situation might be right up your alley - Serie A 20th place side Salernitana have been given nine days to live as they have to either find a new owner or face enforced relegation. For context, their owner also owns Lazio and Italian football has conflict of interest rules that don't allow you to own two teams in the same league. They were given until the 31rst to find a new owner, they have not done so yet.
Lofts-Cheek was at his best when on loan at Palace. Sporadic playing time stifles the development of lots of Chelsea players. If he was smart, he’d force a transfer.
He was brilliant at Chelsea 18/19 season got 12 goals. Our second best player after Hazard. We was incredible then got the bad injury and has never been the same since.
The top 7 Barca and Real Madrid academy graduates who didn't play for those teams. I was sitting here for 5 minutes wondering what 7 to suggest, and I'm still pretty sure I just suggested one you've already done. Cheers mate, and good video.
Great video, as always! If you need suggestions for a part 2, I would suggest Luan, who plays for Corinthians, the team that I support here in Brazil. In 2017 he was the best player of South America and the best player in the Libertadores, leading Gremio to the title, he was brilliant, capable of beating players with ease, he had great vision, an amazing pass and was capable of scoring amazing goals, it was like he was made to be the next Neymar and play in Europe, but he declined and now he is so lazy, sometimes looking lethargic and incapable of creating goals. Alfie, I would like to thank you for your amazing content and for sharing so much with us, you're such an inspiration for me! Wish you a happy christmas, hope you and your family have a safe and relaxing season, full of peace, joy and hapiness.
Definitely room for part two. Newcastle seem to attract these players with the likes of Ben Arfa, Obafemi Martins and Jonjo Shelvey fitting the bill of players who have everything to be world class but aren't. I'd also say a lot of goalkeepers seem to fit the bill and you ve left them out completely. Joe Hart and Jordan Pickford are capable of outstanding saves yet you would not trust either as your teams keeper.
Joe Hart was a top player at one point though so doesn't fit the bill while Pickford is a different player for England. I rlly do think he just aint passionate enough at Everton. At Sunderland he was class despite finishing bottom because it was his local club, not seen that at Everton yet you do england
Kehrer reminds me of Ramos, in that he has to become more consistent to demand to play in his favourite position and gain the experience needed to get to the next level.
"of course some people do manage to successfully avoid paying tax" *queen Elizabeth in the background* .... I half expected it to be a comment on avoiding death
Been a fan since day one mate, give me a shout out. People should respect the knowledge n research you put into your work. Great knowledge. Video idea, players who aren’t as good as their stats or their legacy suggests.

Ross Barkley instantly comes to mind for me. As an Everton fan I’ve seen how good his potential was when he was coming through, he had insane natural talent. Something’s not there in his head though unfortunately
As a Newcastle fan I like maxi just wish he had a better end product and passed more instead of trying to beat 4 players at a time I think he will improve his game once he has better players around him
Joelinton too. He'd be a good player for a Liverpool or Man City, where they see a lot of the ball and pass it around a lot. He's not really built for counterattacking football.

He was great for us, his work rate was always amazing every game even if he didn't score you would see him go up and down the field many times even defending inside the box and he does things at a physical level that no one else can, but he lacks a lot of technique, decision making and composure, so even though we loved him and we always will we can never compare him to the likes of Falcão, Lisandro Lopez, Benny McCarthy, Jardel or even Jackson Martinez who was top quality during his prime at Porto before the injuries
EDIT: And I can go as far as saying that if Marega had a bit of all these critical attributes that he lacks he would probably be the greatest the footballer in the world. I know this sounds a bit crazy but most of Porto fans would agree and would think like this when we say him play, but that's why he never went for greater heights I would say, because as it stands he is just another common player (not common at all but you get it)
Naby Keita has to be on this list
Naby keita is a very good midfielder who is injury prone. Liverpool fans act like he is a waste of space I don’t get it
The first name I thought of was Morata.
Dude again thank you. I feel another lost could’ve had players like balotelli jovetic prince boateng. Best channel on UA-cam. Love from Chicago

Video request: history of the Eddie Howe joke
I think we would all love to see when the joke started, how it started, etc.
you can also add Zaha, Pepe in this too
What about Jeremy Menez or Antonio Cassano?
I'd potentially say Claude Makelele would probably count in this too
Yeah I get what you mean, just always liked Neville as a player lol could say Paul Lambert, signed for Dortmund from Motherwell, played 40 odd games in one season, marked zidane out of the final and won the champions league.
agreed, very average players, even admitted by red nose and gary
once again absolutely brilliant. begging for a part 2
Definitely need a part 2. Januzaj and Shaqiri should be here.
I was actually expecting Martial here :/
AWB is a very good example aswell, I swear if this guy was even COMPETENT attacking wise he would’ve been amazing!
The whole LFC bench of the past 2 years and all CFC forwards.
I really enjoyed this video and strongly hope for the second part to come! 😎👍
@MILITO 537 aha...
If this was made last season, I reckon vini would've at least been an honourable mention. Thank God he improved so much over the summer
Him seeing bits of Zizou in Loftus Cheek is really something. I see bits of Messi in Lingard
Eric Bailly. Always impresses and would be brilliant if he could stay fit
Adama Traore came to mind for me. Can dribble through the whole opposition but cannot put the ball in the net.
Edit: welp he was number 1 on the list so apparently he also came to your mind.
Best football content on UA-cam, not even close
I'd love to see an offshoot of this
Players who had the potential to be world class but due to mismanagement (so NOT injuries) didn't
Some good examples could be Martial, Bakayoko or debatably Renarto Sanches
Add zaha to this list. Hes had some decent seasons for palace but was never consistently lethal or composed in front of goal that took him to the next level. It’s a shame.
Tom rogic at celtic. Truly world class technically but looks like he's walking on everest by the 65th minute and gets injured simply thinking about an injury
Alfie had a lot of fun with that Traore section
I furiously demand a part 2 !!!!
Yes, I furiously demand a part two
Lofts-Cheek was at his best when on loan at Palace.
Fantastic idea
There's no way Kehrer would ever be as good as Ramos lol 😅
I furiously demand part 2!
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be included on this list since his injury - from a liverpool fan
"of course some people do manage to successfully avoid paying tax" *queen Elizabeth in the background* .... I half expected it to be a comment on avoiding death
A part 2 of this video would be great
The Rod Liddle line made me spit out my drink! Brilliant!
I would politely ask to be included in the category of ''furiously demanding part 2''. Thank you kindly.
1 allan saint maximin
2 ruben loftus-cheek
3 alvaro morata
4 thilo kherer
5 moussa marega
6 cristan pavon
7 adama traore
Bro i agree with your list. You definitely need a part 2 with martial
Van ginkel at chelsea so great but was benched for years and is now a brilliant player in eredivisie
Nicolas Pepe deserves to be on this or the next part..
Thomas Partey too
I furiously demand a part 2
Would love one of these for former players
Part 2 is necessary .... players such as Quaresma, Lucas Moura, Lamela.....Maybe even Neymar as well...
Been a fan since day one mate, give me a shout out. People should respect the knowledge n research you put into your work. Great knowledge. Video idea, players who aren’t as good as their stats or their legacy suggests.
As a FC Porto fan i simply can not understand how on earth you included Marega, a guy who has a pair of bricks at the end of his legs instead of feet.
I furiously demanding a part 2
I cracked up at the anyhow/Eddie Howe joke. Pure dad patter
just bought a saint maximin kit on sale from the nufc site. pretty pumped
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 247)
I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
do you have this copied and ready to go?
@@bladeforce55 of course.
How sad. You need a life
Ross Barkley instantly comes to mind for me.
@@KindredBrujah Joe has actually really improved under Howe one of the very few in the team that seems to give a shit he's found a new position as a centre mid and he seems alot more confident and hasn't got the pressure on him as much in that role we all know he isn't a natural finisher but he's starting to come good tbh
