Why not just have the dog in heel position once in a while while there are no dogs around, so it doesn't feel like generally other dogs are "to blame" for a shorter lead? My dog has been on a Flexi all the time since I became physically disabled (e-collars are illegal here, so that's not an option) and he never had frustration issues when the lead got shorter, because it's just such an everyday thing. We practise "Heel!" all the time in all sorts of situations, not just when there are dogs around. Admittedly, my dog wouldn't be frustrated in any case when I don't let him say hello to other dogs, because he just doesn't enjoy meeting strange dogs. But still... my question remains, why not just make it "normal" to shorten the Flexi once in a while (and, of course, work on the relationship, practise basics and so on).
Thank you, great job and way of doing it.
