  • Due to open its doors in 2027, the
Tea Factory will be the new home
for the BBC in the West Midlands,
    hosting iconic programmes such as
    Midlands Today, The Archers and
BBC Radio One’s Newsbeat, as well
as BBC Asian Network and BBC WM.
Hear from Stoford, the developer leading the creation of the Tea Factory, a new home for the BBC in Digbeth, close to HS2.
New research shows that the future arrival of HS2 in the West Midlands is already driving huge investor confidence in the region, with data pointing to an economic uplift of £10billion over the next 10 years.
Economic analysis of the areas close to HS2’s three hubs in the West Midlands - Curzon Street Station in central Birmingham, Interchange Station in Solihull, and the Washwood Heath Depot and Network Integrated Control Centre - shows dramatic increases in regeneration and investment in the last six years.

It’s a shame none of these benefits will be extended to the rest of the North anymore!

Its a shame you seem to know nothing about how the benefits of HS2 will go north of Birmingham.

@@KingCharles3 a) the trains running north will bypass Birmingham to give faster times and better service.
      b) Northern Powerhouse Rail is already delivering new tracks OHLE and added capacities across the North from York to the West.
      c) As I wrote to the other guy bemoaning 'the North' billions diverted from HS2 Phase 2 are being invested to give new trains, tracks and services and a mass transit system for West Yorkshire (including Leeds). To name a few benefits,

Always shocks me how much wasted space there is in cities. Have no problem building on green belt and all across the countrilyside but have swathes of brownfield land unused in the cities

All this land is due for redevelopement, but to build HS2 it has to be built on green land full stop

Lucky Birmingham ,Leeds hasn’t even got a tram , anyone can see Birmingham will boom . This country is pathetic as far as infrastructure is concerned, ridiculous short termism .

Errr ... so you haven't seen the billions going into the northern cities like Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, York and Sheffield etc?
      Northern powerhouse Rail mean anything?
      This was announced last October:
"The North will receive £19.8 billion to link its major cities - with more than £2 billion for a brand-new rail station at Bradford, halving journey times to Manchester. Funding of £2.5 billion will ensure delivery of a West Yorkshire Mass Transit System for Leeds and the wider area, providing better connections to Bradford and Wakefield"
Nothing for Leeds? Like the "West Yorkshire Mass Transit System for Leeds" is nothing Tim?

@@1chish promises , empty promises , the last 14 years of empty promises for infrastructure in the north , no new station for Bradford, an upgrade of the existing line across the Pennines that will not meet demand today never mind the future . Pathetic strategy from the conservative government. They do not care about the north of England.
