I was born in 1963 so I enjoy reading novels set in that era. I haven’t read many books by Tremain but I would like to change that. Any recommendations for other novels?

Thi is actually the first Rose Tremain book that I have read. Interested to now read more.

I wonder if generationally this divides opinion. I read this and I was frustrated with the main character, this pining was so 'wet' and tiresome. I have written a review on this - I have not done a review, stand alone, on youtube but it was in my reading wrap up. I think I just wanted more. Great review :)

As a child of the 60s some of this was so familiar. But I agree, at times I wanted to shake her to bring her to her senses - but I did like her.
