I've got to tell ya. I would give my I teeth to have one of those garden tractors and a zero turn mower. I take care of a little league field in California by myself with a JD D140 and it leaves a lot to be desired. That's fantastic that you have people that help out. I wish more folks were like that around here. It's definately a thankless job and work that just never ends, but it's well worth it knowing that 100's of kids every year are going to learn, grow and build lifelong memories. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
You nailed it Brian! My thoughts exactly and we are fortunate to have some dedicated volunteers for our little local park. There's nothing more rewarding than doing a job and watching a bunch of kids enjoy the fruits of your labor. Kudos to you for doing what you do out there in CA. Thanks so taking the time to comment and best wishes on rounding up that next piece of equipment to help you out on your little league field.
I remember spring, we( the team) would take a Saturday and fix up the field. Maybe ask the team and the families to volunteer through the season? I used to do yard work on weekends for a neighbor ($1.00/hr. 😂 I'm that old) but taught me to work and know my neighbors.
Wow so sorry that you have to do that all by yourself. Great that you do it so the kids have somewhere to play. Imagine if you didn’t? If you want help, I will gladly come help you. Just the small issue of a work Visa as I live in Canada. 😃
I can't get enough of your channel and I love the sense of community in this video! Wow! Great content.... Anything with a box blade or tractor, you are the master operator!
Thanks so much! Yeah, no doubt that "many hands make light work", especially in terms of working on a large acreage like this. Appreciate you watching. I'm getting behind on my channel viewing as the summer comes back to life!
Everybody's hard work paid off. The park looks great. Does my soul good during these trying times to see all the volunteers working for the good of their community and their kids. Proud of you all! Thanks for all you do!
One of my favorite views of a ballpark is the elevated shot that shows the grooming pattern in the outfield. You captured the patterns your army of tiny beasts laid in the infields perfectly. I used to have a JD400. Working infields and mowing outfields was a regular occurrence... but that special “workday” in the spring when several people, and a few of us with tractors, got together was always the most fun... and rewarding!! Thanx for capturing that spirit.
Aside from watching my girls play ball at the park on opening day, the work day is my favorite. I think it is so rewarding to see the fields go from their stale winter state of neglect to primed and ready for action in practically a single afternoon. Thanks for the reflection and kind words. It's a fun and rewarding thing to be a part of as you say.
it is very rewarding after a long day of volunteering, but an even better feeling when you see the park full of kids, parents and grand parents enjoying the fruit of everyone's labor. Thanks so kindly for watching and commenting Blackdog. I really appreciate the channel support 👍
It certainly is a labor of love for so many folks that have spent time there either as players, spectators or volunteers. You've had your fair share of time down there as well! Thanks again for watching and your continued support of the channel Tony!
The Timelapse at 8:10 ish is awesome. It looks like the tractors were going to wreck! Also at 13:20 I have seen some diamonds get “manicured” using a heavy chain fence dragged behind a tractor or gator. Amazing job getting those ball diamonds looking great! Love the community involvement with the town’s park area. Just awesome!
Another good video. This just goes to show what can be done with small equipment on a bigger job like five Ball Diamonds. Good job. It takes a whole Community to keep a ballpark in good shape well done!
I suggest getting a John Deere 1200a, meant for golf bunkers and baseball infields. a gator works but we use the 1200a groomer and then use one of our gators to chalk the diamonds. the groomer is really nice and we use 2 for our local park. it is 3 wheeled and almost acts like a zero-turn lawn mower. we have 11 soon-to-be 13 diamonds, one with a huge warning track. They are really nice with the front blade, teeth in the middle, and a drag at the back
I used to maintain the little league fields in my area too. We are in Central NY and after years of struggling I found the secret to be was to spray the infield and base paths with a herbicide (Roundup) in mid to late September. I found if I put them to bed in good shape opening them the following spring was very, very easy.
You could be right. The only problem with painting a tractor like Bill is that then you don't want to get Bill dirty and Bill is just better suited for getting dirty! It's sometimes nice to have a tractor that you're not worried about gettin' dirty 😋 I have another 318 that I plan to restore one day. It was the first one that I ever bought in 1997 when I was just a wee lad of 21 years old! It's sitting in the corner waiting on me.
Hey.... you ever think about getting a sprayer and hooking it up to the gator? I mix a gallon of vinegar, 1/4 cup dawn soap, to 34 gallons of a brine solution, (I use about 1 cup softener salt to 10 gallons of warm water) seems to work pretty good!
If this is a regular thing. Might look into ABI gravel Rascal. It does have attachments like a cocoa mat, broom and leveling chain mat. But those implements are expensive.
I just looked at them after seeing your comment. Looks like a very nice tool! May need to have a closer look so thanks for the tip and thanks for checking out the video.

It's a good day when everyone comes together to work on stuff like this. yeah, we didn't want to spray it so close to ball season plus we were running out of time to wait on the spray. We should have done it sooner.
Oh gosh. Here I am listening to this in 2024 and wondering why your governor would have to say it was safe for a ball season. Then I see the year it was posted. My kids are 10 and 8 today. I let them know about a year ago how the masks and distancing is not normal in this world I've lived in and that it's not a reoccurring event.

Neil, this is great! Love the usage of your equipment! You leading the charge.
I can't get enough of your channel and I love the sense of community in this video! Wow! Great content.... Anything with a box blade or tractor, you are the master operator!
Loved the time lapse of all three tractors running together. Lucky to have such a dedicated group of volunteers as well!
Thanks so much! Yeah, no doubt that "many hands make light work", especially in terms of working on a large acreage like this.

It's fun to do and worth it all when you see the kids having a good time! Thanks for watching!
Looks fabulous Neil. Time spent on children is well worth it. Bring America’s game back to life👏.
Thanks so much John. We enjoy working down there and seeing the reward come ball season. Another season is fast approaching for us!
I love the teamwork, the different box blades, and the storytelling with the video! Great video once again.....

Good to see the community working together for the benefit of the kids. Nice rebuild of the field drag also.

Awesome, the park is such a big part of this little town, Well done.

Interesting story Brian. At least they've got you to take care of it. I wish they would come up with something better for you

Beau travail. Vous êtes de bon bonhomme 👍
Merci beaucoup. Très heureux de vous voir regarder.

That's very true Bob. We try to spray in the fall as well but difficult to get done sometimes.

i think your bill tractor deserves a john deer paint job.you paint so well and that tractor looks like a work horse and it will look sweet

Nice refresh. Also, you sound a little like Kevin Costner.
Haha! Thanks. You're at least the 2nd or 3rd person that has told me I sound like Kevin Costner. Interesting. Thanks for checking out the video!
Love the zero turns I know you like the 318 but I'm in to zero turn I have 3
Rewatch! Love the content, the channel, the finished product, the team work of the community. How did it turn out?
You’ve got the whole community doing circles with their tractors lol...
Hahaha! So true. I have everyone that knows me doing circles and I always feel like I'm running in circles! 😂
Clint!!!!
