The way alan was talking about looking up to Terry hearn.. I think that’s how a lot of us lads nowadays think about alan cause I know I certainly do! What a boy he is
What he said at the start tho it wouldn’t be like another fisherman’s book from the start of his fishing it would be a photo with a little piece of writing. I’d still buy it though
This guy is seriously enthusiastic and an inspiration to fishing, he works relentlessly from the passion he shows in his videos, to the mega carps he catches relentlessly.
I get what Alan says about how raving consumes you. I never fitted in at school but I started raving at college/university and suddenly I had a whole family of close mates, amazing music etc I felt part of something. To me it was absolutely the pinnacle of everything. For want of a better analogy I was totally hooked. Well feel like I can relate to your experience Alan. Omg I went to Global around then too lol
Love this, it's lovely to see how anglers progress. Sometimes these "top" anglers seem to get the good jobs. It is interesting and good to relate to how the normal man progresses. It's better to talk than just see the glamour. Well done boys, very humble. Tight lines.
Fantastic! So insightful .....I lived in Hitchin for many years, and have fished many of the places Alan mentions, ..I wonder...he must have fished Briar Patch just outside Harlington, with the three lakes and the bungalow....may have become a syndicate though by that time he was there...miss that fishery. Awesome and looking forward to part two :).
Cracking listen, alot of parallels to my own life's 'journey so relate to it a LOT. One thing I do wonder though is, did Big Al eat as many pills as the carp ate boilies in his early years? 🤣 Quality as always lads.
The best podcast to date, awsome to hear Alan's past scarily not to dissimilar to mine. Like myself tho says that his past has help shape him to who he is now. That is the view I have as well. Cant wait for 2nd chapter
Great interview, lots to read between the lines. Kinda wish you had been explicit about how partying wasn't always a good thing because of the illicit side of it but also get why you kept that out of the story. Respect

Respect to Alan, a lovely genuine guy, and with heroes like John Wilson and Terry Hearn, he is, in my book, sound as a pound!

Nice one lads. Wish Korda could keep them going with Covid 😩 If that place was the return rooms bit small for Nash innnit? 🙊😋
Can somebody explain what he meant by check spreading the carp gear please
Early version of finance, pay for gear with cheques spread over a course of months like a payment plan

When you worked at the Suttleworth college- was that in Old Warden? If so we probably put most the fish in that lake in the woods in the 80's :)
It was indeed Old Warden 👍
