So do you always have to have the path as well as the guide curve? Seems that a profile and path (singular) should be enough, but I constantly get a long winded failure message that really makes little to no sense. My cut is much simpler than this too making this very frustrating. Think I'll try option two and see if I can make that work.
I never go this to work correctly. I think what happens is that when wrapping a symmetric curve (on a plane) around a curved surface breaks the curve radius symmetry so the contour sketch can't follow it. (i.e.. a 90 deg curve on a plane when wrapped isn't 90-deg anymore). Your thoughts HRS?
+medo sam If you don't have your answer yet, then tell me, i can help. But it basically comes down to selecting your profile / sketch. And then when you need to choose a path, click on the helix, the sketch will follow the helix.
Many thanks. Keep in mind that no vertical and horizontal relation should appear in the sweep-cut profile.
thank you Mr Ridge

well done
So how would you mate this for a cam follow path? =)
Can this be done on a lathe with live tooling (millining tool on turret)?
How can we measure what length of line to be created
maybe missing something here but after i do the wrap the sketch does not appear on the surface like yours.
figured it out. view - display - tangent edges visible if you cant see the sketch when scribed
Does it works on cones too?
what if my sweep cut was completely helix, no strait part in it. how do i do it?

i guessed it and it worked but thanks for your reply
10/10 tutorial
Thanks
