For the coolant tank saying its low when it's not.. paccar has a bad design on the sensor float it uses a magnet. Sometimes it may get stuck you could try taping the sensor area lightly to get it unstuck and also carry a magnet and run it from bottom of sensor to up and it will normally pull it back into place.
I've had that issue with my mx13. Went through a construction zone and had to ride on the rumble strips. Coolant light came on and didn't go off until they pressure washed the coolant res at the truck wash
You can also try taking unplugging the sensor and take it out and clean it off and put it back in.
For those who are unsure no coolant will leak out of the sensor hole.
I just replaced my surge tank came with the sensor and it was cheaper than buying the sensor alone lol.

You've built yourself up a hell of an operation there Bruce, the shop, the inventory, the truck and trailer, the delivery truck and trailer. Killing it man. And you got it up and going without the UA-cam clout and advertisement and exposure.
Thanks man!
@@Bruce_Wilson I love the comment at the end where you said "yeah let's hope this beard grows back" 😂😂 I feel the same way everytime I shave mine
@@icemanryth don't be a hater man. It's a terrible look. It's obviously his dad's building and property but his dad had a completely different business and he retired and shut his company down. Bruce has built this up mostly on his own. But there is absolutely no shame in having help or support from someone especially your family. It's obvious he isn't some shit bag loser just fucking everything up all the time.
@@icemanryth must suck to be bitter and jealous. It's obvious Bruce doesn't just kick back and give orders.
But still got a leg to stand on since his dad owned the business already so that kind of setup helps he’ll if all of us had a good start but getting a business handed to us would help but it take smarts to make it money and that’s something Bruce did so he’ll yeah to you for that not putting you down for a leg up but you made it pretty good before that so dam good job bro keep up all the good business smarts you can inspire the young ones out there and not talking about making easy money from you tube you actually work
The preferred placement of straps when possible, is inside the rub rail. If you’re in an accident and they come in contact with something, they can be damaged, releasing your load.
Nope DOT man told me..does not matter!
@@wilE6764 I said preferred when possible. I didn’t say it was mandatory.
@@dandunlap8638 gotchya!
Agree
Not about dot refs nessarly it’s about when the strap gets cut.
Also a twist in straps or your gonna vibrate in wear spots. Also enjoys eating paint.
Yeah chain is the best choice for that kind of loads in bad situations noting is gonna slide or break.
Over the rub rails just like a rookie
Gotta run strap thru the rub rail not over it is the proper way depending on dot officer it can turn into a ticket
I was driving the same Pete but set up as a quad axle dump truck. Had the same issue with the coolant; I think it was the coolant sensor faulting on the tank. We had 4 of the same trucks and all of them have constant def issues. You need a guy that can delete it or it’ll be nothing but issues. If you idle kick it into hi idle, or else just turn it off.
I love the tractor pick up/delivery videos and the amazing sound of the Cummins in the Pete.
That’s why you buy a pre emission truck and not one with def crap on it.
I wont sell my 78 and 80 W900A to much bs on the new ones and I'm about done trucking
@@davidcaskey4669 right... Me to, that's exactly why we don't buy them... Not the cost of it or anything else .. it's definitely not like it can be deleted or anything
Lol I like how at 3:41 Bruce is doing the hand motion to guide him back but the guys looking the other way 😂😂😂👌🏻
Bruce dragging his trailer across the grass… real professional
Gotta move to a non emissions setup! Just imagine functioning stacks 😛
this, the only option is to ditch the "emissions" system that is equivalent to a the dung that comes out of the ass of a fruit fly.
Time for a delete...it will make it all better...
Sounds easier than it is. If he deletes it, then that would void the warranty.
@@mintyman1968 not to mention a lot of legal issues lol.... for someone who's had legal issues in the past it's not really a good idea.
@@RathJ13 Only way is to buy a pre emissions truck.
It’s always a good night when Bruce posts on UA-cam love the new style of videos
Take as long as you want with the truck maintenance,, it's part of the show, 👍
They are known to have problems with the def level gauge also have found on both a 17 pete and 19 kw the wiring harness coming out of def tank will chaff wires and cause shorting problems usually where they tie it to the frame or a airline. Just a thought
I just had my harness rebuilt 2300 labor and parts because no one is making the harness back order
Good info, i guess he needs a pin remover and some wire enclosures , electrical tape, new pins..
Man I wish you were recording while you was heading back to the shop at 301 & Lock St with the big load .... I was in my white 94 Dodge Ram 3500 .... I actually have to go back to Napa by you to pick up my new brake drums tomorrow , then Friday my wheels studs. Shoot then install my new rear shoes. Salute , Blessings to everyone grind and motivations....
Coolant issue is a sensor issue with the coolant tank, the magnetic level part in the tank may be goofed up, necessitating a new tank (warranty)
Loosing coolant might be from a hose in the frame on the right side (below the turbo) it's a bitch to get to, but it'll need a second clamp. (Factory only installs one, it needs to be double clamped) or at the very minimum, tightened up, it might be loose.
Yup, almost every new Cummins engine has that issue. Also, that line tends to leak only when the engine is cool after shutdown. When it's hot the line swells shut on the clamp.
I love seeing trucking content like this out of Florida! Sunshine State represent!
get the pete into a dealer. whatever that nonsense is get it looked into while it’s still covered. i had a 15 pete and it had sensor issues that constantly triggered the low coolant warning
good luck and love the vids
Bruce Mike here(Myakka Hooker) about your non native palm tree comment. Yes correct palm trees are not native except the ones you showed at that moment, those are native. They are called Sabal Palms or Cabbage palm.
can't get used to your clean face it looks funny 😄
Put a half twist on thoes straps on the bucket so they won't vibrate in the wind. 😊
Check those def cooler lines. My freightliner just had this same issue, found a broken fitting. Seems to be a common issue with the newer trucks now. Hope you get it sorted
Mate you need to put half fenders on to stop stuff hitting the back of the bunk!! You'd be chipping up that beautiful blue paint!
So what was the solution to the trailer? Also a quick tip, the straps belong on the inside of the rub rail on the trailer not the outside. Only time they go on the outside is if you absolutely can’t get them thru.
If your having problems with the dpf and one box. My suggestion. Get a bore scope. Pop off one side of the Egr cooler. Pop off down pipe to one box. Check for wetness. I’ve diagnosed and changed 4 already on the new Cummins motors already this year.
Gotta find an old short haul pre emission truck. We were looking at a new truck and when talked to some drivers we decided to buy used pre emissions truck. We found a 2001 Pete that was a milk truck had 117,000 original miles just pulling a milk tank. Only problem we have had after 2 years is s-cam bushings on the rear axle.
You could use the other end of the bar that you use to tighten straps to tighten and loosen bear traps.
Correct
i love how the bumper flip up that is cool man
I’ve got a 2015 Pete 389. I had to replace that coolant tank last year for the float getting stuck and giving a false reading.
Seems like the first 100k these trucks have all sorts of issues with DPF and DEF sensors and wiring but they seek to calm down and do well from 175k to 300,000 miles just remember to get the system serviced regularly
Thank you for the video.Maybe that issue was the sensor from the coolant and you need to change it.Wish you all the best!
Great video Bruce. Keep them coming.
Make sure u zip tie that coolant sensor had the same thing happen to my 579. Also invest in OTR performance diagnostic tool to reset them codes. Always have 3-5 gallons of coolant in truck
You gotta suspend them airlines between the pogostick and the trailer so they don't chafe
There is a coolant line going into the frame on the passenger side that always leaks you might just have a bad coolant sensor
My 2018 567 had a low coolant light several times. Turned out to be a bad float in the tank that would stick periodically and kick the light and buzzer on. Ended up having to replace the coolant bottle. I've also had check engine lights for the DEF quality sensor (common problem according to the dealer) as well as the DPF temp sensor. So get ready for those as well. 🤬
Pittsburgh power max mileage! Stuff works! Become a dealer
I use it in my 4044r, pick up, and 22 Pete.
Absolutely no issues with dpf, sensors, etc. Uses less DEF and gets better mpg.
It pays for itself easily. Many videos on youtube for ur own research.
Articulated equipment the lock must be in place to be compliant or your chain placement must be pulling against each other in each section of the articulated equipment.
Working on the same coolant issue with my 389. If it’s the same I fought with low coolant warnings for several weeks and started getting pressure in my coolant tank. Turned out to be the Egr cooler which magically no one has atm
You have my luck, you can buy it new and still have a few bugs in it! Be safe and God Bless!! Can't wait for the next post!!!!
Personally for myself I like the ratchet binders versus the snap binders you can get the ratchets a lot tighter than you can the snap binders
Hey Bruce that was my dad that sold you the tractor he told me about you and I love watching your channel now
New camera audio is perfect
Dude Paul's place would be my dream playground, all those toys!!!
The coolant sensor could be shorting out but when the engine cools down check it where its plugged in on the reservoir
You might have to replace the coolant bottle , sometimes it’s a bad sensor but most time problem is the bottle
Bruce love blue collar / the new Peterbilt and the big loader keep up the fantastic work
Just some advice on your trailer. Stop running your straps over the rub rail, you're going to bend the shit out of it and your trailer will look like hammered hell! If you have to run your straps over the rub rail run them on top of a spool or stake pocket.
The low coolant sensor just clips into the bottom of the overflow tank and can be removed without leaking any coolant. Theres a float inside the tank and i think sometimes they get hung up giving a false reading
Dont start the truck without a spare tank and sensor tools and extra coolant what a joke new truck are.
Yeah low coolant sensor I’ve had that issue on my KW
Last one to get PS5 gift. What happened?
Man when I got a new new truck with 330 miles on it. I think somewhere around 10k miles I was shutdown for a leaking dpf . I never broke down in my 06 pete 379. This new 579 pete just sucked. It's got a 9 speed with a Cummins
Coolant sensor might be faulty, I drive same model Pete with 26k miles and the exhaust system light came on as well
On my families farm we have two western stars that are newer ones a 550 x15 and the other is a dd16 and the the cummins was having problems almost every 2 months with the emission’s and we just got both trucks filters gutted but the egr is still intact i think we should of gotten the egr taken off bc the cummins blew off a boot that had something to do with the egr i cant remember what it was but a delete is best when you have those problems
Love that flip up bumper too. Nice truck
If the engine is using coolant, you better get it checked out as it can clog up the diesel particulate filter if its going out the exhaust.
Cross threading the cap helps with coolant pressure on the ISX
Best advice I can give you now that you got haters and on UA-cam. Don't delete the truck and don't even talk about it :P people will report you fast.
That’s a fact, trust me i know
Oh by the way beautiful truck brother. I'm jealous!
DELETE is the answer
That chrome shop is huge, truckers heaven
You probably won't see this but you need to get them air lines off the frame of your truck. Should be atleast the very least a finger distance keep up the good work tho
Yeah, another video 🚛🚜🚜
I myself prefer snap binders over Rachet binders
Finally another smart man!
The way I look at it is I can see the handle is down its tight and secure and any breakage in the binder in visible
usually find that a water bottle without a max line then use the seam on the bottle as a maximum mark. anymore can lead to overfilling the coolant bottle and not allow for too much expansion, and cause over heating issues. nearly any other fluid like screen wash you can fill nearly to the brim, but when it comes to water and oil, both need to be a certain level Bruce.
and with the case of the truck whereby the seam is lop sided, so the seam is at an angle always fill to the lowest part of the bottle seam.
If you pull both caps on the coolant Reservoir you will get more coolant in it
I’m so glad that crap wasn’t on my trucks when I was hauling Every time I see a new truck I feel bad for the owner that’s trying to make payment and feed the family.
i’m self employed i’m an owner operator and i hate having to deal with that def system on these newer truck i drive a 2015 freightliner Cascadia
It’s more than likely your coolant sensor on the serge tank there common for not reading so they’ll throw a code and make you think something’s wrong when it’s not
Have the same problems with my DPF AND DEF SYSTEMS this is the worst mistake dealers installed on trucks it's a never ending problem with the DEF DPF SYSTEM
So I can't help but Wonder I wasn't going to say anything but as a over-the-road truck driver I can't help but wonder if he does a pre-trip or he just hops behind the wheel and goes
Absolutely killin it Bruce. Helps keep me motivated I know where you started man!
Hey so what was the issue with the brake locking up one the wheel? Which video should I be looking at forr your solution? Thanks.
Have you tried Pittsburg Power Mile (mileage) Maximizer. I have a 579 and haven’t had an issue with DPF DEF. Got 150k+ miles on it now. And I idle when temperatures aren’t ideal for a good rest period
Absolutely the best additive on the market for diesel engines. I used it for years, ran very trouble free. If i ever get back in the trucking business I will definitely use it again.
Need to use the lock on articulation equipment
Hi Bruce you should have a second peterbilt one with no Def on it.
It is nice feeling to save the Pete's
With Cats.....They come alive to work...That 550E cat.. is a strong engine ...build it to 650 hp....
Put a 18 sd..3:36 ...your top split gear.
Be your passing gear.....I love my set up..I avg 8 with it... hauling farm equipment John Deere and Cat stuff..
What was the deal with the trailer? Air valve? Are they gonna do anything about the tires?
What’s up with the straps outside the rubrails?
As Blue Collar would drove by and waived at you sitting on the roadside in your new Pete.
Can the camera move a little slower when doing like the fan show of all the display stuff. When moving so fast the camera just blurs things even on high quality settings
I said keep driving the cab over. if I get another diesel its going to be all mechanical. Great video keep them coming
Naw we have 18 of them nice red engines. They drink Coolant. I got a brand new Pete 567 with a x15 605. Just came off the assembly line in April 2022. It takes about a gallon every 2 months.
Internal leak in EGR cooler...very common.
@@ronaldfulton1175 exactly right
ANY chance that quality control sensor in the DEF tank might have went i know truck is new Bruce but alot trouble with those on all model trucks...Happy hunting man Truck looks good to man..
There is a man in JAMAICA WI, Has a fleet of MACK TRUCKS he canNOT keep on the road, you get a good mechanic, then he is gone, a CHINESE CONSTRUCTION is there doing work for years, but their trucks NEVER BREAK DOWN, so he went to them asked QUESTIONS. SHAMAM, the engines ARE CUMMINGS , with no pollution bs, SO now that man is the AGENT FOR THE ENTIRE WEST INDIES, BUT HE HAS TROUBLE SELLING THE MACKS ( 16 of them ). 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
If I had your resources I would be driving a fresh rebuilt pre-emission Pet.
Whatever happened to blue collar the cabover ?
Liking the fact you added a camera man and editing. Much better content delivery. Keep up the great work.
love how you never really said what was wrong with the truck lol
Your brand new diamond C goose neck already has a brake light out
Please do pre trips every time you start your truck up as well as post trips. You should get acquainted with your truck and know where to fill coolant up at. Pre trips are an important part in trucking, plus you’d catch a lot of issues before you drive and after. Had you done a pre trip you would’ve known your coolant wasn’t leaking.
This dude is clueless. Teaching yourself to do open deck trucking is a monumental challenge. So many bad habits/violations.
21:30 Cabbage Palms ARE native to Florida. Source: Native Plant Society of Florida
So did you happen to find out what issue was on Peterbilt yet? I hope not to expensive for you? That sure is a beautiful truck.
New truck are cool, but that's why guys are bringing back the old trucks. No computer & emissions crap.
This is a serious question from someone who has never done machinery haulage, can you over tighten those binders, they looked under a lot of strain?
Ooh a mini substation
Yes they that’s what I’m having problems with mine to
My goodness my friend if you don't know where the coolant cap is and keep your diff fuel for all the time buddy you need to stay out of the cab of that truck I got 40 years behind the wheel and trust me it's common sense
So you got the problem solved with the brakes locking up?
Go get blue collar rebuild her she a hell of a truck didn't careuch for it when u bought it but she's hella nice now
Are u missing 4 chains and binders or does that loader have a pin out for the middle
Gosh I didn't know that was you getting in the truck at the beginning with the beard gone lol
I dont know what that little tractor you loaded up was, but i want it for some reason
I wish that loader was here in north texas
