I'm a massive Vauxhall fan so loved this vid, looks like it does have cruise control, 3 buttons on the end of the left hand stalk, I would say this is a 2K+ car all day long
I had a 1.6Sxi back in 2003. They are pretty decent cars and at their current prices they're good cheap dailies. Being ULEZ compliant makes a big difference in London too!
I've got a Astra Coupe SE2. It's a project in the works, I'm seeking 888 front splitter, seats and skirts then I'll be getting Reyland AP brakes big brake kit, KW coilovers, O.Z Ultraleggeras. Already have Irmscher DTM mirrors and wing among other bits, trying to find Sharkeye Xenon headlights and Lexmaul clear/red taillights now which are as rare as hens teeth. Then to finish I plan a Z20LEH VXR conversion... Among loads of other goodies! Reliability of these cars are impeccable. The Z22SE would have to be driven to death by an idiot to become unreliable. I did have an issue with the syncro in my gearbox. It went away but I'll be getting the gearbox serviced soon with engine and chain.
Cracking buy that Astra joe. Love the Vauxhalls of that era. I had a good few cavalier Sri back in the day. Always fancied an Astra coupe but never had the opportunity to buy a good one. Can’t see you losing any money on that. Good video as always mate nice one 👊
Certainly a nice rare care although might need to be advertised nationwide to find the right buyer. I think Vauxhall Tigras both Mark 1 and 2 are also ones to watch for future classic status - maybe not great in their day but becoming rare compared to how many there used to be.
I have a 2.2 in manual In sedan white on the outside and cream leather seats inside Beautiful car Manual gear is way better It's honestly a modern classic
Hi pal think you should hide your chassis number some people out their can order a log book with those details and reg . Someone tried it with Rob from salvage rebuild uk just a thort Pal.
Most probably the best looking Astra and they had DTM racing pedigree! As long as the timing chain is good on the 2.2 it should be a seller! I compare these to the MK1 Volvo C70 and i am afraid to say that the C70 in 2.3 T5 form (240 bhp) just blasts it out of the water!
Poss ex boy racer, the lights, the petrol cap, wheels mint because it prob had 18s on it, it also looks lowered, glovebox unit maybe signs of a big stereo.... much like i did before selling my previous owned astra sportive van mk4. I looked after it. And returned to standard for sale, was a good thing had 7 years. coupe's always been rare, but prob not overly desirable... yet.. future classic. P.s lovin bash.. is he a Heinz's 57, looks cool and healthy.
Well I hope these cars are not crap.. !!! I have had a 2.2 bertone convertible since September 2016 I think I had a bargain £350 even though it has body damage and no mot on purchase. One MOT did cost me a years wages £635 quid but the mots since have faired well..It came with a private plate (worth£650) I love the colour of mine blue metallic..I think I am keeping it and eventually when I pull my finger out and move to a better place I will start getting work done.. Its only a rear bumper it came with a black one..Oh THIS car on purchase had a new engine (or better) it had 60k on that the car has done 148k roughly.. I then have a 2007 Vauxhall Astra twin top 1.9CDTI it has full service history and just 88.500 odd miles on clock.. I paid £1300 for this not a million miles away from Somerset It went through its MOT with just one advisory front brake pads.. Again the paint work is not amazing it needs paint work on two corners..Ive not really gelled with car it was very mouldy back in November time but in February it MOT and I sent it for a full valet. Sadly I was not impressed with the engine bay it had a mini blast over.. but I really wanted it looking mint..And £80 maybe it was just a cheap valet.. but his loss I have 5 cars at anyone time.. And my dearly beloved Mercedes CLK 320 Convertible really needs a great clean.. as does my Transit LWB 14 plate and My A6 has huge potential for quality valet. I have this guy in village he really does my head in always wants to buy my car 1st it was my CLK Then my old Astra And then he found out I had my newer one Jesus He wants to buy that FFS id Never sell him any of my cars I don't want them being crushed..because no tax or insurance.. Good video..
Love it mate, I had the same 2.2 but in manual, it was the deep red with the irmscher body kit/spoiler. Cream heated leather seats, though they were very hard. Loved it!
thats funny about the smell early mk2 cav smell and ive never came across that mk2 cav smell since my childhood in the mid 80,s untill i recently picked up a astra h shape with the same smell and it brought memories back my grandad had to get rid of the cav 1.6 l on a early xplate due to rust being parked next to the sea all the time in 1988 but i allways missed that car and its a car i allways promised myself so i got one for my 40 th 1600gls saloon again on a x plate the only thing i hate about the xplate is it deosnt have electric mirrors my mates brother had a 1600 gl on a y plate that had electric wind mirrors again its funny because 20 years ago classic vauxalls were never as sought after as much as fords but now there seems to be more enthuism for the vauxalls expecially the fact vauxalls are more rarer for example look at 2 cars a mk2 rs2000 and a chevette hs the chevette is byfar rarer than an escort most people my age dont know what a chevette is
This was a great buy but also somewhat depressing, as it's brought home how my owned from new 1997 Peugeot 306 turbo diesel is now worth virtually bugger all, even though it has under 84,000 miles on it.
Gut feeling is £2k+ sounds optimistic. It's a bit niche really - yes it's a cheap-ish automatic, but it's not particularly cheap to insure or tax which as you say puts off youngsters with auto-only licenses... Which leaves either an enthusiast who really wants it (but let's be honest, most of those would want it manual) or an older person who just wants an auto that doesn't cost much (and can tolerate hard seats?). I don't know, perhaps I'm misjudging it, but there's loads of more comfortable cars with auto boxes around that money that'd appeal more to the older folks... I'm thinking Volvo S60's, for example, plenty of them out there with the 2.0T engine and an auto box - better engine, better interior, far better seats, etc... And theres some on AT that are a few years newer than this and similar or lower mileage for around £2-2.2k. I'd have thought this is a price up at £1995 and bite the hand off the first person to offer £1500+... There's a reason you're in the biz and not me, though!
@@ShiftingMetal all depends how much of a hurry you want it shifted in, too, I'm guessing - if you don't need it gone ASAP you can afford to wait for a better price! Best of luck with it 🍻
Surprised you did not mention the white dials which only makes car look faster Not too sure id pay £2k for a 20 year old plus Vauxhall, but good luck and I’m sure you know what you are doing
The engine size combined with age are likely to limit its appeal - most people that could insure it would probably be looking at a plethora of Volvo S60's of similar age (and abundant in automatic form) with far better seats and a much better engine (the 2.0T 5-pot). Then again, sometimes luck strikes... But £2k sounds like it's pushing it to me, nevermind beyond.
Absolute minimum £1k mark up I’d say… Sale price above £2250 may be pushing it, so yeah mark up at £2495 for wiggle room. Hell, you may even get it from the right reminiscing buyer.
@@ShiftingMetal my parents learned that mistake with our current car! it was claimed to be in excellent condition, so they travelled up to a dodgy part of birmingham to go get it (already gone wrong 🤦♂️) and it has dents and scratches all over it, and it had a higher mileage than claimed. it was claimed to have 125k on it (bearing in mind this is a 13 reg car) so it was high as it was, but when they got there, it was actually 155. oh well. it’s still a lush audi. i sent you photos on instagram!
1990 and 2000 coupes will increase in price no doubt. But buy with a manual gearbox and not a Vauxhall. Best buys Rover 220, Ford Cougar 2.5 V6, Ford Puma 1.7 Racing, Alfa GTV and especially Fiat coupe. Pay your money and take your choice.
@@robaustin245 T5's a great engine... In all honesty I'd take the 2.0T 5-cylinder engine over this Astra anyday (and most of your list), it's a good reliable engine that makes a decent noise - it's not the full fat T5, but it's still a better engine than most and better than its often given credit for IMHO.
@@EnglishTMTB I think in my list the Alfa 3.0 V6 engine must be the best engine for sound and usable power but SO fragile. I'll stick with my twin scroll RS250 Meg.

@3:54 Good examples are riced to high heaven but the Opel/Vauxhall Astra Bertone Coupe is actually pretty classy looking.

Cruise control will be on stalk for wipers on the end also glove box would of had a 4 cd changer in it.
cruise control on left hand side of steering wheel stalk press from the top be there also cd player in glove box 4 disc changer . good video
amazing how much car you bought there! for so little money!! if that auto box had a service it would not be so clunky on the upshift in sport mode!!
Back lights aren't the same of all astras mk4 they have different shape, they are Bertone's cabrio and coupe only.

These need to be run on E5 fuel as they're an older type of direct injection.
Had a go in a Manual Astra Bertone it was very fast great video

can we have a review of the Suzuki Celerio? I own one (Ive had it since new) and I highly recommend them
I can definitely try to arrange that
Looks like it has cruise control its on the indicator stalk I love these I still own a 2004 coupe turbo

If you squint hard enough, the lexus lights somewhat make it look like a Monaro. 😅 hope I'm not the only one that thinks that. Lovely little gem TBH
Gotta say with those taillights looks very Monaro-esque
