    Haha, this (and the previous video) is great! I think a lot of us recognize ourselves in what you're saying, I certainly do! I think it's important to enjoy the journey and not get frustrated. What you're saying about keeping tabs on what you've done is great advice. Looks great, looking forward to more!

      Yeah. Yer spot on. There's no point in doing any of this if there isn't some kind of pleasure in it. Hmm, maybe I should give it all up after all haha. Cheers for watching and leaving a comment!

    I'm so happy you got the PSU and three modules done after this long saga and through all the blood sweat and tears. You gotta make some videos utilizing this case as it grows. Also your thumbnail is terrifying.

      One thing I wanted to mention is maybe cover up the PSU? Not sure how safe it is exposed like that.

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  2 роки тому

      Hey thanks a lot! I think the PSU will be okay as it's inside the case and not live wired (AC input via barrel connector), but I'll be careful!

    building modular synths and character at the same time...you're a hero :D...by the way, buying your electronic components and parts from specialized shops like Mouser and Farnell is cheaper than Amazon and even eBay.

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Gaita, thanks! Yeah. Part of the problem here is that the specialist places don't have everything, and end up charging a fair whack for shipping, so it's less economical. I'm definitely going to Thonk etc now though for the pots and what not as they are much better.

Will be looking forward to any jams and tracks you put together with this, especially since you're doing even more modules! 🙌 I personally would love to hear this in a jam/track with your C64 & Akai Force or something like that, a mega jam with all the goods if ya know what I mean lol 😁🐀

    Great work! I broke my Cosmo performance VCO a few months ago and am dreading trying to find out what I have killed. And the LCD display never worked right from the start. So I feel your pain.
    At the same time, I solved an issue with the WavTrigger that I use with my LMNC Big Button sequencer. That one I had been sitting on for around 2 years! I just needed to figure out the steps to reprogram the firmware.
    So even if we sometimes prevaricate, it's worth being patient and hanging in there. Then finally one day you get your shit together and complete the project and it is amazing! 😁

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  2 роки тому

      That is true. I had a drum machine that I started bending/modding a few years ago and got stuck so I gave up, then I recently went back and finished it. Sometimes a break is a good thing!

    Great stuff. I have been building my modular for over 2 years but doing eberything from scratch. If you have DC power adapters with transformers inside (not the switch type power supply!) you can open them up and remove the bridge rectifier (usually 4 diodes).... and you'll have an AC adapter.

    Do not forget to calculate the wooden thickness next time! For the ribbon cable i have purchased It from mouser, and the female connectors from tayda are cheeper (2x5 and 2x8, maybe of you look in NLC build guides you can even find the codes) anyway, good work 🤩

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  2 роки тому

      Thanks! Yeah, I calculated the depth of the wood but it was a bit... iffy with some of the modules and my own idiocy/laziness. It worked out okayish in the end. Top tip on the cables, cheers!

    Do you guys have Mouser or DigiKey in the UK? Shipping is usually just a few days, free for orders over $100 CAD (I don't know about pounds or whatever you guys use), and pretty cheap still. I would never order parts off amazon, some sketchy ass sellers on there. Ebay sellers are notorious for selling fake ICs.

    • @StephenMcLeod
      @StephenMcLeod  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately I don't think so. We do have some alternatives, but the shipping was always prohibitive in the past, and they didn't have everything I wanted. Keeping an eye out though!
