Payerne Switzerland 🇨🇭| medieval Church in the small Town of Switzerland ⛪️

Payerne is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud. It was the seat of the district of Payerne, and is now part of the district of Broye-Vully.
It could hardly be more impressive: the monumental former abbey church, dating from the 11th century, that dominates the medieval centre of Payerne.
This is the largest Romanesque building in Switzerland, a prime example of Cluniac architecture, and the most important sight in a small town that is exceptionally rich in history. Throughout the year, the abbey and its museum stage important exhibitions of paintings, as well as a series of high-quality concerts.
Thanks to its position near Lake Neuchâtel and not far from the nature reserve of the Grande Cariçaie, Payerne also makes a good base for a host of excursions into nature. And anyone hungry after a day in the outdoors will enjoy the wonderful sausages made here that have become famous way beyond the ruins of the ancient town walls.

1:52 12:25 Nice view of a newer church next to the old one. Are you religious? It seems everyone in Switzerland is. The pope's guards are all Swiss, right? I am a Gnostic Christian and in the olden days I would have been persecuted if not killed by the church. Luckily, we live in a more enlightened times, don't we? Well, that's debatable actually; on some fronts yes, on some fronts not. Anyway, moving along. Peace! 🙏🏻🤔

I did fish in that river in the 70's...no licence was needed, after that all kids in the city went to buy fishing gear...
