    Sometimes, it is totally worth it to shop on Amazon US and ship to Kenya rather than buying locally, example is the Acer Aspire 5 laptop we see here.

    For local purchases also note that VAT is usually not included in the prices listed on websites/online. I went to purchase a 27inch 1080P monitor that was listed for 28K. Went to the shop and discovered the actual price was higher by about 5K. With the same amount i decided to buy and ship a 2K Acer monitor directly from Acer. Total cost to NBI was 35K.

      I've seen that severally, VAT not included in some of these local sites!

    I usually make sure to time certain events like Black Friday or Prime Day, they can even have 20-30% discounts. By the time the event reaches, I've already compiled a list of items I want to ship using a local shipping agent.
    PS : I never include insurance in my shipping, the likelihood of an item being lost in this day & age is almost zero.

    As said, heavy items are cheaper bought locally. But light items(phones etc) it's cheaper to import.

    The issue many fear is regarding the power/electricity factor for electronics. Most don't understand how to solve the issue. Maybe do a video on that.

    • @DesmondKarani
      @DesmondKarani Рік тому +3

      For small electronic gadgets like laptops and smartphones, you don't have to worry about power incompatibilities since their chargers are universal. The only issue is with heavy duty stuff like amplifiers (basically anything requiring a lot of power from the outlet).
      Using a heavy duty item rated for only 60Hz 120V in a 50Hz-240V region (like Kenya) with a stepdown transformer causes it to run hot due to increased excitation current within its internal circuitry (its transformer core), reducing its efficiency and damaging it sooner. For such items you should buy them from the UK (since it also uses 50Hz power supply).

    • @pythonantole9892
      @pythonantole9892 Рік тому +2

      @@DesmondKarani UK uses 220-240V , same to what we use in Kenya. You can buy from Amazon UK and ship Aquantuo ships from UK.
