- This was one of three pine trees that we had to take down in a formerly small garden. while I was able to bomb a lot of it, some of the trees needed to be rigged to avoid damaging the homeowners property.
I bet that slip at the top when you were putting the pull line on was scary as fuck 😂. Fucking hate stuff like that, always happens at the top. From a fellow climber in the UK ! Love the videos
Yeah it's been happening more and more recently as I sharpen my spikes they're getting shorter and I keep accidentally spiking out. Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos.

One of my wildlife encounters was kinda crazy - climb prune a pin oak half way up in a crotch was a sleeping racoon (i already used my saw plenty) dude was sleeping so hard. I got a groundie to send up a pole and i poked him 4 times before he slowly awoke then saw me - so much expression on that dudes face like he was saying WTF scurried off to the tip of a branch and he hung out til we were done
Yeah luckily I haven't ever encountered a raccoon, although I have found a few possums, and obviously countless squirrels
what kind of lanyard do you use? it looks so smooth, how does it pull itself through like that?

I just hold the rope grab just right and it uses gravity to slide through
Nice job…what rope is that in your Zag? It looks nice and beefy yet seems to have a high strand cover unless that’s from use. Anyhow lmk if you like it as well.
It's Samson Voyager, and I'm not sure if it's my zigzag is starting to wear out, I have had it for two and a half or three years, or it's the rope. I would not recommend this rope if you're going to be primarily natural crouching as I've had it for less than a year and it has already deteriorated to the point where the core is exposed in a few spots. However if you're going to be using a friction saver or a pulley saver then I would absolutely recommend it.
Thanks for the info. I guess I’ll stick with Hyperclimb or May get Blue Moon, however my Scandere has held up well but it’s too stretchy for some situations .@@ReallyTallTreeGuy
@@Wildwoodjake I really like the blue moon that I had. I use blue moon for the better part of two years before it was worn down too much by natural crotching. Whenever I have to replace my zig zag from normal wear I'm absolutely going to go back to Blue Moon.

Yeah it's definitely not a super fun time. My spikes are about worn out, from sharpening them over the years. So I need to replace the gaffs themselves pretty soon
Video are good but you need to say something what part of the country you are in what kind of rigging you are using.
I've watched a lot of his videos. Pretty sure he's in southeastern Virginia. Maybe towards the Norfolk area.
What do you mean what kind of rigging am I using? As in you want specifics for the gear I'm using? And ask her what part of the country I work in the Virginia Beach area
@@ReallyTallTreeGuy thanks for replying, the gear that you use rope and pulley’s for lower heavy limbs. I used to live in Smithfield.
@@hankjordan2602 typically for most trees I use a half inch ISC small block, with a half inch amsteel 2 ultra sling that I spliced, as for the Rope typically the rope that we use is 1/2" true blue. Off the top of my head I do not know the name of the orange rope that we use.

You use that Gibbs as efficiently as Jacob Rogers lol. Is it a pain to get used to ? It’s probably like what Reg says about tree spurs in that if you just stick with them you’ll never go back.
Thanks. That's actually where I first saw it from, it's definitely a little interesting getting used to, not so much a pain. Really the only pain is when you're doing a Broad Street and you're not going straight up and down you need to watch what part of your gear presses on it, because occasionally depending on the angle of your rope and the angle you are you could potentially fall into a situation where a part of your gears depressing the little blue part of it which causes slack to go into the system which is always good for a fun little jumpscare
