Yeah man I can't wait. This pedal is going to be pretty much the core of my pedalboard. If you haven't already check out the video Knobs made for it. The harmony he creates in the beginning (at one minute and 17 seconds in to be precise) with switching from half speed to normal on his Ditto Looper.. oh my. That's one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard!
The Larch Love that channel. I think his is one of the few in stereo. How would you be utilizing it? I think I would go for a short snapback with a nice cloud of reverb magic complimenting that.
JG Fletcher I just received my Avalanche Run. It's more compact and has a more beautiful color than expected. I gave it a go although the knob settings seemed fairly random. However, the sound was so inspiring from the get go that I started writing something pretty immediately ! THAT is the sign of a great pedal. BUY IT you will not regret it - although I live in Germany so the extra tax hurt it's still worth every single penny. :D
Mine showed up a few days ago, and I'm just loving it. Very organic once you sneak a bit of reverb in with the delays. Thanks for this review. It was the impetus for the purchase.
Just watched two of your vids for the first time. Killer delivery on both and the quality of sound to really showcase the products is excellent. As is your collective taste in music. Love it! Thanks Team
Goddamn, speechless. That guitar just rings, 6:21 sounds amazing, and 10:00 is the craziest thing I've seen. Nifty Tame Impala-ish intro/outro and a shoegaze session are just an awesome bonus. Also who's the player? Really enjoyed this demo
This showdown with Jamie at the drums made me imagine presenting your new girlfriend, with every characteristic, to your friends while her father is cooking for you in the back
The "motorik" beat ... yup. But this is way more interesting. I always wanted NEU! to improvise more, than just to the same thing over an over endlessly.
Could this pedal be used as a delay and reverb with overdrive? I was just wondering because of all the reviews and demos I've seen, they have only used it for clean, ambient tones, which I enjoy a lot, but I also would like to use it as a delay behind some more driving lead tones.
+AJ Rajan actually i made a phone call to earthquaker devices and their customer service told me that they run in parallel and that the tone affects soley the delay :^)
So what does the Swell setting sound like with some delay running too? And does the Swell length also dictate how long the "release" time is, i.e. time before attack transients start to be in muted again? Or is that fixed?
At 8:53, does anyone know if you can replicate that My Bloody Valentine style shimmer effect he mentions without a whammy? I have a Les Paul but I really want to incorporate that sound into my playing with this pedal
Saadly, you probably cant do that on les paul, maybe a vibrato pedal can get you close, but i would rather recommend getting jazzmaster/jaguar or even strat, once you have that type of tremolo system, its very easy
+Li Bosen electroman delay, dl4/memory man with exp pedal, theres a red one like a twister delay or something, a couple reverb pedals too check out old blood noise endeavours. if you slam a looper or sampler function on a delay pedal really fast, it has a similar effect. the guitarist for the desaparecidos does this, denver daniels or something, check out his rig rundown for more explanation
does anyone know how to take the pedal back out of Infinite Repeat Trails mode to true bypass mode? I switched it to try it and now i can't get it back.
Just got this and found you can switch out of buffered mode (trails), by turning the Ratio to 1/4, before plugging it back in with the activation switch down. For Other Readers - Activate buffered mode (trails) by unplugging, choosing 1/1 through 1/3 on Ratio and holding activation switch while plugging back in.
I didn't hear any normal useable sounds. I didn't hear any from Andy at ProGuitar Shop's review either. I'm wondering if it has any normal sounds. I'd like a reverb/delay pedal but I need useable sounds.
+MrJoeyBoombotz - Though "normal" sounds are certainly subjective, the Avalanche Run can definitely get your classic delay tones, and though the reverb has more of an atmospheric quality as opposed to say, a Spring, it can be dialed in very subtly or dimed out to a very intense degree. We find that it really shines in doing the "abnormal" so to speak, and that's why we showcased it this way. Thanks for watching!
Showcase what you like. If I don't hear what I like, I don't buy it until I do. I don't go to music stores anymore. I just buy what I can see and hear on the Internet. It's a good thing you don't have a real sales job.
That's great. You shouldn't buy something that doesn't seem like a great fit for your style. We're not here to sell you on one particular product, we're here to help you make decisions on the best gear for you, across the board. Best of luck in your reverb and delay search! :)
+MrJoeyBoombotz there's plenty of boss pedals with your name on it, The avalanche run fits in so much atmospheric awesomeness into one pedal, it's no wonder your little mind was blown. Honestly, the plain white yogurt is in aisle five
Dude if you just grow the stash you look like Mike Watt, get rid of the beard. lol I know it has nothing to do with the awesome vid but he seems to look like Watt to me.
I never assume anything, and I've been playing Heavy rock, and everything in between for 50 years. I also didn't mention everyone. WHat I'm trying to say is, a real guitar hero uses a realistic echo. That's why seasoned players use a tape echo. If you want to label my comment as crazy, that's fine. I actually was trying to share, some helpful advice. As far as this pedal not having a bad sound, Sound is subjective or did you forget?
Dude I feel your pain. An important thing about UA-cam is... Haters gonna hate. Some guys are just jerks. But people have differences in oppionion. And you gotta deal with it, the way you want to. Some people might spam, troll, hate, dislike, ban, report, unsubsribe, flag, mute, delete, or whatever. But whatever you do, do it with love and don't hate. When you fight violence with violence you are just like them
+Simonthan Got it ;) do it with love! I like that, love is a positive power, and we all will always benefit, from it. Love is what this day & age needs, desperately. Thanks Simonthan, sometimes we need someone like you, to open our eyes back up. Peace!
Didn't do it for me. I think today's people are lost! If you want to create a useful delay. It's plain and simple, we don't need reverse, and we don't need auto swell. A real guitar hero needs a realistic Echo. Why does nobody get it? It's the Echo, that sounds real. "HELLO"
It's kinda crazy that you assume everybody is looking for "realistic". This pedal is about having all of the possibilities from simple reverb, to crazy swells, to super long delay trails with even a little modulation. And the most important part is that there isn't a setting that sounds bad on this pedal.
If you look at Reverb or PGS you will find about 100 delay that do just as you say. This is one of the more rare ones that includes these far out functions, thus using a DSP instead of old Bucket Brigade Chips. You would probably love a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails or Boss DM-2 Wazacraft, or the tried and true MXR Carbon Copy. If you want tap tempo then the Way Huge Supa-Puss or Ibanez Echo-Shifter would be good choices.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for your reply, your the man! Thanks for the info. I really appreciate your help. I'm at my latter part of life, and I don't see all that well anymore and so on, and there's so many choices these days, that it's frustrating. I have a shit load of delays lol, and still searching. the more I listen to Avalanche, the more I'm liking it. I already know, I will have to add it to my collection. As humans we are kind of funny at times, such as, one day your amp and guitar sounds awesome! the next day, is sounds like crap, or you don't like an effect, and then it grows on you. Peace, rock it or lose it!
It is very useful to hear it in the context of an actual band.
At 2:24, shortly after he said 'let's max it out and see how that sounds' I finally said 'F*** you!' to my wallet and bought the pedal.
The Larch This is gonna be me soon. Literally have been watching videos all weekend.
Yeah man I can't wait. This pedal is going to be pretty much the core of my pedalboard. If you haven't already check out the video Knobs made for it. The Larch Just played it yesterday. I will be buying it next month :)
Simply dreamy. Finally reverse echo with ambient reverb. I saw this and bought one on reverb. SOOOOOOOO NICE.
any demo with neu! covers gets a thumbs up from me!
+Steve Kolb hmm, The Matrix fan are ya? that's cool.
Mine showed up a few days ago, and I'm just loving it. Very organic once you sneak a bit of reverb in with the delays. Thanks for this review. It was the impetus for the purchase.
Jamie is not only one of the best pedal makers out there but quite a nifty drummer as well. I bet he gets all the chicks....
Just watched two of your vids for the first time. Killer delivery on both and the quality of sound to really showcase the products is excellent. As is your collective taste in music. Love it! Thanks Team
Thanks a million!
Wow, My Bloody Valentine, Yes and Neu all included in the same demo.
I love Earthquaker Devices. I’d love to see them do their take on the boss slicer. Take my money!
That guitar is such a mutt! Absolutely love it.
Faaark I want one!! Wonderful demo guys. Rockin out with Jamie midway was very cool too!
ever since joel played starsail with the dispatch master I can't ever disassociate this pedal with the verve :)
+AJ Rajan Nick McCabe is the man.
Ever since the early days when they were just called "Verve" I have loved those guys.
What a superb demo.
Literally saved my life, I switched my pedal into trails mode without knowing what it was and I was like how tf do I get back 😅
Love the Yes reference near the end.
+locksh Why that's Jim Tuerk from Reverb.com! Glad you enjoyed it, it's an awesome pedal.
Sold!!! Thanks for the vid. Ordering it today. TODAY😉
what do you mean deal breaker? think you meant the opposite?
Great run through of features available. Nice one!
Just got mine today...already hooked it up to two amps...so cool
Best explanation of this wonderfully divine pedal I've seen. I've been loving mine for almost 2 years now.
The most beautiful reverb on any pedal belongs to the Avalanche Run
This showdown with Jamie at the drums made me imagine presenting your new girlfriend, with every characteristic, to your friends while her father is cooking for you in the back
is the last bit from NEU!?
+capigge qi Glad you caught that deep cut. Best we could do without tape loops.
+capigge qi came to the comments section to show love for this!!
+Mark Plant actually, the begin is also that part... NEU! so good, and yet it's from 70s....
+Reverb.com hallogallo!
The "motorik" beat ... yup. But this is way more interesting. I always wanted NEU! to improvise more, than just to the same thing over an over endlessly.
damn i love this pedal so much
I have 2 of these on my board with Glass Pony - it’s almost always on!
Totally need one
That clean.... wow!
jamie on drums! what a friggin guy
So this is basically an more pliable Dispatch Master? Dope
💓 my avalanche run
Love the band bit
So is this a Dispatch Master on 'roids?
beautiful zaftig gtr matches the pedal :)
I want this!!
great demo, but it would of been great to hear you play chords with it. I am getting one, and your setup sounds great
Could this pedal be used as a delay and reverb with overdrive? I was just wondering because of all the reviews and demos I've seen, they have only used it for clean, ambient tones, which I enjoy a lot, but I also would like to use it as a delay behind some more driving lead tones.
works well for that, though I'm not sure this answer is relevant 3 years later... maybe you found a solution before now!
@@rzk_audio Yeah course it would, glad Gabriel waited 5 years for this
@@cheroberts1273 Interesting. I wasn't waiting 2 years for your reply, though, so I can't say I share the same sense of appreciation.
the delay and reverb run in series or parallel to one another?
+Mike Litoris series :( wish they had a parallel/series switch, but hey this is the coolest freaking thing ever so
+AJ Rajan actually i made a phone call to earthquaker devices and their customer service told me that they run in parallel and that the tone affects soley the delay :^)
what are they playing at 5:17?
I believe that's just a song they created to showcase the pedal.
dope. anybody know the song at 5:18?
I believe you meant deal maker not deal breaker around 5 minutes in ;)
+Brandon i won't buy this pedal, because it's awesome!
I think the pedal had him in blissed out land. it does sound really good. so glad I have an ehx looper and cathedral and carbon copy
I think he means if a delay pedal didn’t have a self oscillation mode he wouldn’t buy it.
dam that is a cool pedal. Do i sell my polara reverb pedal and just have this instead. tempting as
Can't wait, that first song played kicks ass. Is that a Neu cover or something else?
+Robert Evans The best we could do with Hallogallo without real tape loops. Glad you caught it!
The effect is processed in mono. Any stereo in are summed.
This thing is awesome. Not a big fan of the modulated reverb. Can I just have a dispatch master with tap tempo?
So what does the Swell setting sound like with some delay running too?
And does the Swell length also dictate how long the "release" time is, i.e. time before attack transients start to be in muted again? Or is that fixed?
Why doesn't this sound stereo at all? There's no "Space" in between the effects at all. Sounds Mono! Sound the same way on PGS demo as well :-(
I assure you, in to two amps....it is amazing.
What type of pedal is attached to the Avalanche Run? I want one.
They are using an expression pedal, which the Avalanche Run has an option for. As far as the model/brand of the expression pedal, I am unsure.
Nevermind, I found the one they were using: Moog EP-3 www.moogmusic.com/products/accessories/ep-3-expression-pedal
The specs call for 425mA current. Do you really need this or could I use this with my Pedal Power Digital, which puts out 400mA per channel?
My pedal feeds back when I turn it off... Why? Rather not have that sound interfere sometimes.
Can the reverb trail too or ?
Can we still using the other knobs while using exp. pedal?
dude is baked. just look at his eyes lol
How do I use this pedal? Do I need to run it through stereo only? Effects loop? I just got this yesterday
EQD now has a vibrato called the Aqueduct that has a function which dives the harder you strum, giving you exactly the sound you may be looking for
is there Reverse reverb on this thing?
This is a demonstration video. NOT a video manual as claimed in the title : (
a little NEU jam at the end
Fur Immer!
With the Toggle expression switch, is there anyway to go from Swell to either of the Delays?
how do you set the pedal with the amp up? Does it work with the Fender Champion 100?
god 90% of the reverb guys suck at explaining pedals properly, my favorite guy is Andy, and he can actually play guitar well!
Anyone knows what other pedal can do the self oscillation only by one button?
+Li Bosen I have the same question!!
Caroline Meteore lofi reverb pedal!
Tomkat Daydreamer
Now the malekko charlie foxtrot does this exclusively
does anyone know how to take the pedal back out of Infinite Repeat Trails mode to true bypass mode? I switched it to try it and now i can't get it back.

Can this do full wet my bloody valentine style reverse reverb
+Simonthan Around the 9:00 mark we attempt to get some MBV type tones, check it out.
Simonthan dude buy a Midiverb II and/or Yamaha SPX90 for cheap
Is that CAN in the beginning?!?
+Adam Stager It's the band, Neu!
Adam Stager NEU!
anyone know of a less expensive pedal that can get the sounds made at 2:15ish? sounds just like the outro to over the hills and far away
tc hall of fame. you can get any reverb from that
just got mine in the mail and I'm obsessed but now I need and expression pedal and don't know to much about them. Can anybody help me out?
+gdub2141 We used something as simple as the Moog EP-3. Simple, affordable, does the job. goo.gl/vzm0LE
+Reverb.com thanks you guys are the best! keep up the great work!
So I'm new at this delay thing, educate me folk, what is a stereo delay?
stereo delay means you can run one line out to one set of speakers and another output to another set of speakers, achieving a stereo sound
you mean 2 amp at once? then what if I had a bunch of pedal before the delay?
whats the song at 5 20?
+James P Just a tune we made up on the fly to showcase some cool sounds!
Reverb.com I want a whole album of stuff like this.
I wasn't sold on it til the end
dem boots tho
Towards the end sounded like The Who - Baba O'Reilly vibes
Need need need need need
Neu!

Take some lessons
Invest in some new shoes, brah.
