Thank you for explaining the derivation of the names “Thypoc” and “Simera”! I had been wondering about this since I first heard of this brand. To a native English speaker, the idea of “thy epoch”… or, as we would more likely say, “your era”… is very poetic. It is an interesting choice for this new manufacturer to use such subtle yet meaningful names!

Epoch = epochi (season) Greek word. Simera = today in Greek. Both words are in use today in Greece from today’s Greek speakers (not just ancient ;)). Good video! Thanks for the review!
Yeah they definitely get crowned for the best naming. I don’t think it’ll be attractive to M users since there are so many options at this price point from Voigtlander.
Well, I used them both and made two videos to express my experience. And I should say, Thypoch is much better than 7artsians. Although Thypoch is also much expensive than 7artsians.
I had the mark ll wen for a while and loved it for its microcontrast and 3D image pop but the stiff focus tab and excessive lens flare shooting when sunny ruined it for me.
@@mhelenesephoto I think the 7Artisans mark II Wen is still one of the best affordable lenses to carry around when you don't need the objectively sharpest images. It has lively character and barely any cat's eye(something ever present in Voigtlanders). Besides, it looks pretty cool as well. At the current discounted price of < $250, it is definitely a great lens to have, although I'd say Thypoch above is in a different league altogether (it is 2.5x pricier as well). The Thypoch is more Leica like.
@@arpitkumargahlotabsolutely and I found my version to be tacky sharp wide open. I directional or open shade light outdoors , the 3D draw is amazing. Lovely lens and a bargain yes, I like trying to shoot street and the stiff throw was a minus, same applied for portraits. In strong overhead light the double flare was too much for my taste. The voigt noct 35mm 1.5 focus is silky and great flare resistance

I will make another episode for comparing these two lens. As my opinion, they are very similar. Thypoch is little cheaper than voigtlander.
