In this video, I’m taking you along on a journey to carve a $3000 Desert Ironwood Burl Talisman, inlaid with silver. I know, it’s a bit of a mouthful, but don’t worry no one’s watching (well, unless you’re watching this, in which case, hello from my very shy corner of the internet). 😅
I’ll be carving this beautiful Desert Ironwood, which is known for its unique grain and density, before adding some intricate silver inlays to bring it all together. I’ve always been a bit shy when it comes to sharing my work, but this time, I figured I'd push through the social anxiety and show you how I turn this amazing Desert Ironwood into something truly special.
Desert Ironwood is no joke it’s one of the toughest woods out there, often used for high-end knives like the Boker Boxer Desert Ironwood and Bark River Desert Ironwood. I’ll be sharing some carving techniques I use for this wood, as well as exploring how it’s used for things like Ironwood firewood (which burns hotter than your social anxiety after an introvert's retreat). 😆
