Barry Nash’s absence felt as Cork stall Limerick’s drive for five | The Throw-In Hurling show

  • It will be a Cork v Clare All-Ireland final, and the Throw-In’s regular trio of John Mullane, Eddie Brennan and Michael Verney teamed up to break down how each team made it over the line.
Limerick’s drive for five stalled after a thriller with the Rebels - John asks if they were too slow to make the changes needed to keep pace with a Cork team who have the right pieces coming together at the right time.
Meanwhile, Clare’s 16th man made their presence known as Kilkenny were toppled on Saturday, Eddie remarks that free-taking made the difference here.
Elsewhere, the quality of hurling is such that we need more of it - will the GAA give it to us?

There's big pressure on Cork now imho and here's why. If Cork don't beat Clare, they'll have beaten Limerick twice yet Limerick won the Munster title, and will have lost to the same Clare side Limerick comfortably beat to get that Munster title.
It basically translates into Cork beating the best team twice and having f-all to show for it. That's going to hurt beyond belief.
But here's the thing. Just because Cork beat Limerick, and Limerick beat Clare, that doesn't mean Cork beat Clare. That's not how sport works. They're a different match up, different man on man pairings, different individual skillsets, different approaches and tactics. Can Cork beat Clare? Absolutely, but it ain't no gimme just because they beat the team that beat Clare, and Clare are absolutely capable of beating Cork in a one match winner takes all shootout.

Good game but absolutely nothing like the 1984 Cork Tipp Munster final at Simple Stadium in Tipp. The all Ireland was played in Thurlus that year because of the centennial and Tipp wanted it soooo bad.
