I hate to be a downer, but I can’t be the only one who thinks that Sufjan didn’t properly warm up for this concert, right? He sounds consistently off key... is that the audio quality, or something? I know he can sing better than that

First night of the tour, he always looks a bit nervous and doesn't sound quite as good as he usually does.

He's a very shy and nervous person. Sometimes he gets really nervous that it affects his singing.

He usually sings off key live. It’s never really as strong as his studio performances for whatever reason. I think it’s still beautiful though. Wonderful quality to his voice even still

These songs though are really difficult in the range and rhythm, but yeah, he could take a bit more time to warm up. Even the strings could have worked a little harder this time around.
