- Sand Serpent at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is closing for good to make way for a new roller coaster in Pantopia. This will be my last time riding Sand Serpent before it’s last day of operation on July 9th 2023. I hope you enjoy my last ride and documentary of a roller coaster that will soon be no more! Also, a POV of myself riding Falcon’s Fury for the first time in a long time! There is much ahead!

Yep I remember seeing it as a kid but never rode.. came back for the first time last month and it was gone and couldn't ride sand serpent 😭😭 Coming back next week but it'll be too late 🥺
@@sonialopez5090 That's a bummer, man! The Phoenix was a sick ride but could also make you really sick when ridden multiple times. Lmao I tried to see how many times I could ride it in a row as a kid... went 7 times and my vision started going white. Lol disoriented af. 😂
I think it was the frenziod at Carowinds. I miss that!

I think Sand Serpent used to be called Cheetah Chase when it first opened but changed the name once Cheetah Hunt was built. It was an awesome smaller coaster though and looking forward to what it coming next. Thanks for sharing it TJ! 😎👍🏾

This coaster opened originally at Busch Gardens Williamsburg as Izzy in 1996. It was called Izzy in honor of the 1996 Olympics mascot. It's name changed to Wild Maus in 1997 (when I first rode it), and closed in 2003 to move it to Tampa. A dark ride, The Curse of DarKastle, was built where it stood. This year, a new indoor coaster took over the space: DarKoaster. While I know it's not the biggest or baddest coaster around, I still enjoyed being able to ride it at BG Tampa, since that's been my home park since 2007. Sadly, I wasn't able to come get a final ride, but I'll survive...lol. It's just been too hot and miserable. I'm glad you and a couple others have documented it for us though.
AWESOMENESS, it does suck when rides shut down Carowinds North Carolina and South Carolina theme park used to have some awesome rides, they still do but Whitewater Falls was a great ride to get soaked during the summer and the water logs, a tree log that you sit in but, oh and thunder road, it was such a great wooden roller coaster, it had a forward and backwards version WOOOOOO

Ugh...being from Brew City here, I gotta call ya out on that Clydesdale Whiz you kept referring to as beer (actually Miller is even worse truth be told...) Too bad they weren't serving Four Peaks!!! If you ever get the chance, don't pass up the Kilt Lifter or on day's like y'all get in Florida, WOW wheat...it's so light and refreshing!!! Thanks for the ride-along!!! Well done as always!

Tampa Jay, I rode the Primeval Whirl a few times at Animal Kingdom. It was ok. But I remember as a kid over in Panama City Beach, riding a mouse trap roller coaster at the old Miracle Strip. It was called Galaxy. It was the best mouse trap coaster I have even been on. Those type of coasters seem to be a dying breed these days. Oh the fun of yesteryear.
Sorry, Jay. But the coaster enthusiast community has known about this being scheduled to shut down for a long while now. They're gonna be making room for a new coaster on the land where it, and the old swing ship used to be. We're hoping for a hyper or giga, but BG is keeping closed lipped on it. Hope ya have fun, babe! And thanks for all your other coverage of Florida!

My 14 yr. old has been begging to go to BG or even SeaWorld. It is so gross out we keep telling her Fall please. Dummies ruining our view of the Gators! So sad people are so dumb and we pay the consequences. The Flamingo incident years ago was truly sad too. That idiot died later - Karma. Still poor Flamingo who died because someone jumped the fence and hurt him. I read about that in the news. Drink lots of ice water in that heat.
Cheetah Chase/Sand Serpent is/was actually considered the most frightening ride in the park by a lot of park goers when I was going there from 2006-2014. The camera never does those turns justice. You do NOT feel like you're going to stay on the track or safe.
