Something I've been saying for a while is that, as good as Baby Monster is, it will take them years to build up to making anywhere near the amount of money Blackpink brings in to YG. That's why people saying that BP will not have a comeback is nonsense. YG knows they still need them, and would never have signed a contract that didn't include at least one comeback.

BM is very new all the profit they gain is enough to run the group so it won't show in YG company earnings. The 2ne1 girls should not be doing any favours for YG after everything, hope they're talking getting the rights to their name and catalogue or something, also it's very much a Hyuna situation if CL works with YHS if what he did with Han Seo Hee is true (most likely yes and you can watch a yt video on HSH's endeavors) and if he had any knowldege what was going on in #that club...
Regardless of how 2NE1 ended, those women have not exactly prospered. This isn't anything against them, it's just how it worked out. A comeback would make them a lot of money, and re-start their careers, including possible solo projects. My point is that, given the situation on both sides, a 2NE1 comeback would be a win-win for both of them. I'd expect that they are, indeed, being a lot more careful with any contract they may sign this time.

(it's true relevancy wise it's not the best but that's normal at this point in their lives and they seem comfortable financially and Dara especially is still getting a lot of on camera work, and honestly I'm not sure how much a comeback would benefit them cause it didn't seem to do much for Sistar19 and Kara (who are having another comeback and one of them had a solo project recently) besides being a cute moment in the industry, I don't think even the snsd comeback was that much of a splash or did much for the girls individually and those are the top girls with a gp friendly sound, ppl today barely like what BM are doing, they'd still eat up anything BP release but that's an outlier I feel, and now that I think about it despite the BB comeback being a big success it didn't do much for their vocalists nor did collabing with Jimin and Lisa for Taeyang's overall solo besides good views for the yt videos with them and the Jimin song charting relatively well but the actual solos... I don't know how much this will do besides ofc accomplishing the girls' wish to reunite, hoped it wouldn't involve that guy but I wish them the best)

You're forgetting that Idols are performers - they love being on stage in front of 10's of thousands of people screaming for them. I'm positive they miss that. Plus, YG, given how they're promoting BM, has changed how they promote their groups. If they make the same kind of push for a 2NE1 comeback, it will get a lot of attention.
In business - and K-pop is a business - you sometimes need to put your feelings aside and do what's best for you. This would be good for them, period, and could help heal old wounds. I'd hope that they see it that way and take advantage of this opportunity, while making sure that they do so on their terms, not YG's.

2NE1 used their name when they performed at Coachella in 2022...and they performed 2NE1 songs. I doubt that YG ever tried to prevent them from using the 2NE1 name or performing 2NE1 songs. A more likely problem was that Minzy was already under contract with the Music Works label in May of 2016. Park Bom had no contract with anyone from 2016 until 2018, when she signed an exclusive contract with D-Nation Entertainment. Only CL and Dara re-signed contracts with YG...and only solo contracts. Starting in 2014, CL was focusing mostly on her solo work (and even signed up with Scooter Braun for U.S. management only for her solo activities). She left YG in 2019. Dara focused heavily on acting, MC, variety show, talk show type things for the remainder of her time at YG. Dara left YG in 2021 and joined the Abyss agency. The real situation is much more complicated than most people think. Due to all of the different contractual situations of the 2NE1 members, and their conflicting solo careers under different labels, they couldn't have continued as 2NE1... even if YHS was totally fine with it. It's also not clear that all of the member really wanted to continue as a group early on. Minzy was heavily focused on going her separate way most likely making her decision to leave in early 2016 or possibly even in 2015.

Neither 2NE1 nor BABYMONSTER are in the same league as BLACKPINK. I for one am dancing in my seat at the news that YG are in trouble. They treat their artists like crap sabotage them and then expect them to perform like seals in a show. 2NE1 might have been popular but even in their hay day could they beat BLACKPINK. For one CL should never have been put into a group she has solo artist all over her. BLACKPINK brought in over 300 million just in their tour. Whose going to take their place. Putting a 15 year old girl in a group and sexualising her might be good in SK but not in Western cultures.
