    très beau résultat !! Les veines du châtaignier sont magnifiques .. Au fond du plus mince, celui qui a le trou, on dirait vraiment qu'il y a un poisson dessiné au fond !!

    Very cool. For some reason while you were roughing the outside. They sounded kind of hollow to me. I know, I'm crazy. Lol
    That being said. The bowl gouge with the long grind is my favorite tools to use. Although I have been using my spindle gouge much more for roughing the outside of bowls.
    Thanks for sharing and keep on keeping on!

      No ,you are not crazy, I've lost few minutes of video and second rough out was a rough out bowl from few videos back, when I rough turn 40 pieces in 4 hours.... So good eye and ear sir🤗

    I would love to either have you show your caliper (both ends) on a video on a video, or do you have a link for a caliper like that. I appears it has a measuring scale on the opposite end? Great skills and demonstration of good technique!

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning

      Thank you Amy, it does have scale on other end... Here you can see it...ua-cam.com/video/pa3AtYBQJ1o/v-deo.htmlsi=gUFw7162gSN2zTC7

    Great work and video! Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something. I have been honing my scraper wrong. What grit hone do you use when honing your scraper?

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  9 місяців тому

      Glad to hear that sir, I believe the arbotech hone is 400grit and I have one 600grit... both work great but arbotech one is a little better quallity

    First time watching your channel. Thanks for the great video! I’m just getting started and was wondering what the drying process is like in the microwave?

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  8 місяців тому

      Thank you for kind words, it works ,for let say few thin bowls, but I would't like dry rough out bowls..... you can do that as well but it tends to crack a bit faster....

    True talent when you can make matching bowls.. question have you ever had a bowl blowup on you while supporting the cut with your hand on the outside of the bowl? Thank you

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you very much 😀.... not while supporting the cut but when I didn't support it..., It was thin bowl like this and it was warping and I try to mess something about the rim and got a chuck break of as the scraper caught....

  • @alanneel2749
    @alanneel2749 8 місяців тому +1

    Please tell us about how you microwave the piece. How do you stop them from warping and checking.
    Thank you !

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  8 місяців тому

      Its really simple, I put on 1minute on high settings.... now warping can not be stoped, cracks can be avoided if you have thick piece in microwave by going slower and letting the bowl cool down....

    They look glorious. I do love chestnut. Amazing that you can do that by ear and by eye. Would any of these have qualified for coring?

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  10 місяців тому

      Thanks, glad you liked it, we will see in person☺️ they do quallify for cores but it would't be much in size.... If I had curved blades then maybe as I would already had the bowl shape....

    Do you listen for the sound of the gouge telling you when your desired wall thickness is approaching? I love the way you move quickly but not hurried!

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  10 місяців тому +1

      I'll do a video on this, but for me its combo of sound, watching on both sides of bowl, and feel.... But I'll do video and hopefully explain more better😀

      I agree. You can tell Tomislav is a pro. Doesn’t take overly long, is very efficient and at the same time has high quality in his finished product. He and Richard Raffin are my two favorite turners.

    Very nice set, as always beautiful work and results.
    One question: how do you deal with bowls that will receive hot liquid? You have a different way of making such bowls or.do not get into that at all? Thanks!

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you Boris, same process, I sell a lot of portion size bowls that are used for soups and stews, if the wood is solid then there is no problem.... If there is a crack hot liquid will open that..... Boiling stuff are not reccomended , but I have put boiling stuff in my bowls and it ok if not super thin....😀
