Love how every antenna connection is labelled on both the cable and the card and the board has massive silk screen labels to show you where everything goes :) Shame about the ram.
HP makes the best gear period... Especially their Business Range. I have a HP Notebook that is over 12 years old that runs Windows 10 Perfectly. The only things I've upgraded is the Memory and the Hard Drive to SSD and replaced the Battery.
On the HP site it says it has an PCI slot, but some of the SSD's that come with the device is SATA. So can I install my own m.2 2280 SATA III SSD in this thing too?
I've been having an issue with this device. The fan is constantly ON right from the moment it boots up. Even with a fresh installation of Windows and with almost no programs running, the fan still keeps spinning. However, sometimes when I touch the left side of the screen it stops spinning. The moment I lift my finger, it starts spinning again. Any solution on how to fix this issue?
Great job, thanks for video! Could anybody tell me, if this Tablet will turn On and will work without battery inside, only with charger connected? I love this Tablet more and more.
main issue with this laptop/tablet is that the batteries swell if deeply discharged what happens very easily and very often. And then screen and metal case get ripped apart by strong forces while the ABS frame around the screen gets torn off the screen to which it is only connected by a double sided VHB (very high bond) adhesive tape from 3M. As the ABS frame is torn off the screen the frame mostly gets ripped and broken. The only choice you have to repair this damage is to separate/remove the whole ABS frame from the screen by a guitar plectrum, remove all the remaining tape around the frame and the screen. Then "weld" the broken frame with a woodburning "soldering" iron and reinsert and re-melt-in the torn out brass thread-inserts into the frame - then retape (it is crucial to use one for low surface energy and with a thickness of 0.6mm) and reassemble the whole assembly which in total is a real real pain in the ass - not to speak of the pain to get the right tape. When you're done with that then you're done for the day. I know what I'm talking about as I just finished my 6th repair. If some of the dark masking on the glas of the screen has been ripped of during the de-peeling of the tape from the screen and the light shines right through where it shouldn't you can repair this with number 7 (glossy black) acrylic paint from Revell called "EMAIL COLOR" - don't take the matt one but the glossy!!!! Nonetheless I love this HP model - especially after having repaired it like described.
i guarantee you that ipads last longer in the hands of humans than these will. i'm still using an 8-year old ipad 2 to watch youtube and netflix on, and i could still trade it in for a decent chunk of money to buy a new one; high resale values mean less garbage. try trading in anything HP, best you can get is recycling labels.
I don't get it, they ALWAYS ding every manufacturer for soldered on RAM and Processor, but they didn't ding this one? hmmmm also parts availability isn't taken into account for actual real world repairability.
But 16GB is pretty good going, most MacBooks and other premium laptops don't come with 16GB RAM. RAM has never failed on any of my machines and the only reason you'd want to replace the RAM is to put a higher capacity RAM in. Not an issue when you have 16GB of it.
Other manufacturers take note. It is possible to make a tablet computer without excessive use of adhesives to hold much of it together!
Actually no adhesive at all. Not sure if Ive ever seen that on a tablet.
Dang, the RAM was soldered on. No way to upgrade that, but to replace the board. Outside of that it looks very fixable.
Microsoft....take notes.
The Surface laptop is literally sealed more shut than Apple's ecosystem.

Microsoft should learn from HP and improve their Surface line-up in terms of repairability.
Message for the industry : just take notes.
Can you bring the presenter back? I don't like having to read!!
Thermise I like Kelsea.
So, no link to the older HP tablet? Missed opportunity for ad revenue, ifixit! Not everyone is going to bother searching for that video.
Do all of the come with the SIM card tray but no Lte Module? Can I just buy a base model and add Lte to it ?

Kindly try out the 2019 Elite x2 G4 when it comes out (i7 8565u / 8665u)

Most laptops and 2in1s work fine without battery but there might be some power throttling

Doesn't this have the exact same flaw as the g1? Unfixable USB ports?
Not sure why it's a -1 score if they both have the same issue.
anyone know where I can get a display replacement?
Anyone know where I can get an LCD for HP Elite x2 1012 G2?
Nice job HP on making a more durable device in this Apple fueled age of garbage-bin electronics..

Aand the ram is stuck on there pretty well
Hi, it's possible install the Samsung 960 512GB NVMe Drive ?

You cannot replace the ports in most of the tablet computers either.
Good job HP.
cool now can you put it back together and send it to me please thanks
Ugh. Soldered on RAM.
Because system ram really fails a lot? It's not the most important thing..
And you're not going to need more than 16GB within the next 5 years..
Yeah, 16GB of RAM on a tablet are amazing.
640KB of ram is more than anyone one will need...
But 16GB is pretty good going, most MacBooks and other premium laptops don't come with 16GB RAM.

Nice job
score?
I certainly haven't seen many rate that high of a score in quite awhile.
Dammit HP! 9/10?!!!
damn HP. way to go.
Very ease to tear the LCD panel FPC when you want to remove it. What a tragedy design!!
Mom get the camera!! I'm first in a youtube video! That's totally important!!11
Apple, Microsoft ????? Please explain this ?? All you want is money from people, but sorry, im not gonna buy anythings of your hardware. Never !!
