My mum was diagnosed with COPD some 10 years a so ago and was told if she didn't quit smoking she'd have 5 years but if she quit around 15 years. She never quit smoking, her breathing over the years just worsened and 6 years later she was diagnosed with bowel cancer, after treatment to all our amazement she beat cancer, however she lost so much weight and muscle that any kind of activity was harder on her, her stomach had shrunken so much she coils only eat small portions of food, she was never able to gain the weight 4 years on from beating cancer. I was so used to her having good and bad days with her breathing but for a week her breathing was really bad and she refused to go to hospital because she was so scared of covid 19 and as always said ill get through this. Then unexpected to us all my stepfather awoke in the morning and my mother was dead. Her last words to him was I'm not going to die on you 😢 that was just 6 weeks ago and I miss her terribly, it's been the worst time of my life however knowing she is no longer suffering from this awful condition and can now finally be at peace gives me huge comfort. I smoke myself but am now trying to quit for her as I know she's watching over me and wouldn't want me to go through the same fate
Yeah my Mom was diagnosed with Emphysema back in 1994 and she battled the disease until 2014. She did good as her condition was rated as severe as the scales would allow as far as available equipment in the 1990’s could rate. And yes, she was a heavy smoker for forty years at her first diagnosis. Still miss her, 😢
My grandad has smoked since he was 11 years old and had been diagnosed with COPD around 8 years ago it never bothered him for a long time but the last 2 years it really started to effect him. He would stand out of his chair take 3 steps and clench his chest trying to catch a breath. He wasn’t the same smartly dressed loving man I had known my whole life. When he was in the hospital he weighed only 5 stone due to him not eating cause of the COPD. He passed away last January i plead to everyone who has a family member or friend who’s a heavy smoker please do everything you can to get them to stop smoking
If they don't want to quit u can't force them anyway. Just like my brother he's a heavy smoker and won't quit of course they know the harmful consequences everyone knows still they don't care it doesn't matter what u say to them. They're not gonna quit till lts too late that's when they start to regret smoking...
Been living with it since 2012. People not being able to breathe is so bad at times. Please I beg you stop smoking before you lose your health. Once this starts it only gets worse. I’m 49 with a 17yr old and gosh knows he needs me and so do your kids 😢 Praying for all 🙏
I’m almost 23 and been vaping since I was 18… about a month ago I noticed a slight wheeze when exhaling, brushed it aside until today it was noticeably worse, started looking into it and started panicking. Have I really ruined my life of healthy lungs?
I have COPD, I was grossly overweight, barely able to anything especially after I quit smoking . But I started by walking, 1st day my goal was to walk for 15 minutes. I've worked my way up to long hikes, dropped 75lbs. And it has helped tremendously. I still get flair ups, exposure to cold air makes it difficult to breathe, and "normal" colds (for everyone else) can incapacitate me for 2 weeks. But overall I'm doing well - stopped taking all the COPD meds about 4 yrs ago, except my rescue inhaler - which I've only used a handful of times these past 4 yrs.
My great friend Scotty the Hottie (work nickname) was diagnosed with COPD 2017, he worked through it until 2021 when he retired. Best cook in town and the most positive human of all time. Taught me about loving myself in the simplest way. Enjoying/embracing your own magic while we jog to the destination.
I'm 24 almost 25 I'll be June 22nd I've had copd since I was 19 I was always around it as a young infant up to an aldolesnt I've been smoking since I was 16 I'm about to hit stage 3 copd and I can't quit smoking so it's too late for me but anyone who has never smoked don't it's not good for you your always broke you can't run or play sports stairs ha don't even get me started trust me never ever pick up a cigarette or cigarello or cigar don't make the same mistakes I did believe in yourself and live a healthy life I hope this helps someone someday
William Pearson 19 is very young to have copd. I was 34 when I was diagnosed and was told then it was very rare to have this at such a young age. Have you had second opinions about this? Please don't misunderstand me but you may have something more going on than just this. Have you tried seeing a specialist about getting a lung transplant? Never give up as you can control this disease but quitting smoking is key to healthier lungs. I've had copd now for 22 years so believe me when I say there's help out there. You must seek it out. I'm in my end stage now. I'm on oxygen 24/7. I am no longer able to cook or clean my own home. I'm not able to go and do anything as it takes every ounce of energy I have just to get dressed for a doctor appointment. I had a lung specialist lie to me at the age of 46 when he told me I was too old for a lung transplant. I found out years later that he had lied to me. I traveled 4 hrs one way to do the testing and everything needed to see if I would be a good candidate for the transplant. By this time my lungs had become severely damaged and I wasn't able to get the transplant. I was told had I not been lied too, I would not be losing my life today from this horrible disease. Much luck to you and try to stay positive. If you haven't had any other specialists look at you that would be my suggestion. I wish you all the best. Also, copd is not an inherited disease. You say you grew up around it? You are very young so don't give up. Reach out for all the help you can get. I wish you all the best!
@Aallison K why would anyone choose to smoke regularly for 16 years if one was not unable to stop? Cigarettes don't increase quality of life, nor your life span, and the person smoking it stinks. It's bad for others around you, and you have to spend your money to smoke it. So, why is this a choice if you're able to stop smoking and flip everything I said to it's opposite and gain all that by not smoking.
My mom has smoked her entire life and has been coughing ever since I can remember. She is still smoking and I have to hear her deathly cough all day. It's really upsetting.
im 17 too. my stepdad has severe copd. it is horrible. i have called him an ambulance once. he almost died before that (he had b-virus and pneumonia as well). i get so much anxiety from his disease, in the middle of the night he often comes to my room and tells me he cant breathe.
This is a wonderful website that explains COPD very good for me and anyone to really understand this terrible disease. I feel that this tape would help so many young people to truly understand what smoking can do to their lungs so maybe they will really think hard before starting to smoke. It's to late for me but not them. Thank you so much.👍🏼
I just found out today that I have COPD never smoked before ...My father passed away in September of COPD last year ..but he had asthma as well like me mines is really bad ..anyway I can't do little tasks like sweeping the floor and be out of breath SMH so learning on this helps
I know many COPD sufferers that use lung exercisers to open up their lungs and help clear out buildup. I personally use the BreatheEasy Lung Exerciser because it’s simple and pocket-sized, for almost 6 years now.
At various times in my life I have been diagnosed by various Doctors as having Asthma, Emphysema and COPD. What really happened is that I burned my lungs at work. Very hot gasses got under my face protector when I got to close to a furnace at 1500* F. We should have been given full face masks to protect us when working on these furnaces. . But the Doctors never want to blame an Employer because then there might be a Law Suit. Then the Doc would have to do some extra work by testifying in Court. So we suffer and suffer and suffer.
I’m 38 and have lungs of a 80 year old. I have asthma and copd. I have to stop smoking. My Granny passed away from copd. It was awful seeing her towards the end. You think that would be enough to make me quit right now.
Crazy Cat Lady I took photos of all my xrays chest drains every could while I was in hospital and when I think about smoking I think of the photos and that puts me off having that cigarette it’s still early days for me after having an operation to remove bits of my lung but those cigarettes still call to me their addiction is pure evil and so far I’ve been able to resist them. I hope in this last year you have found a way to give up if not please try again.
I am so glad I quit smoking and weed back when I was 19! I can’t understand how people can’t just quit. I started again in 2006 but gave up after 2 months. I haven’t smoked since but haven’t touched weed since I was 19 now 39 lungs feel good and healthy. Someone I know very well has stage 3 emphysema. And he told me to watch this video as I didn’t understand
I've just found out my mum has mild copd litterly four hour's ago ,she's 62 and has smoked since she was 16 I don't think she knows how serious this is at all and I'm going to urge her to stop asap as she's just become a grandma for the second time 7 weeks ago. I wish anyone with this all the support and help they deserve, I simply came here because I'd no idea what it was .
I’m medical student and I have read the comments and feel bad for you guys , stay fine and healthy , nobody can take care of your health if you don't, we have an Arabic proverb that says "Prevention is better than cure."
COPD is a treatable disease. It does require a management strategy for early stages starting with smoking cessation. Combination therapies can be used reduce dyspnea and improve lung function but might not be possible for patients with long-term declines in FEV1. Controlled trials have been completed to validate early findings.
can the same be said about covid 19... im finding a pattern on both types... can copd patients be at greater risk of the covid19 virus... i think yes.... if so... CAN COPD TREATMENTS ASSIST IN HELPING TODAYS COVID19 PATIENTS. NOT AS A CURE BUT A SLOW TOOL OF RECOVER WHILE YOUR BODY CREATES ANTIBIOTICS TO FIGHT THE COVID19 VIRUS... IF SO... THE ASSUMPTIONS OF THE COVID19 DATA THAT WAS WRONG IN THE BEGINNING MIGHT HAVE VALUE HERE..... IF SO... THE LOCKDOWN WAS GOOD FOR THE 2 OR 3 WEEKS NEEDED TO SECURE THESE AMERICAN LIVES THAT HAVE COPD.... THEN ARE THEY NEED TO BE CAREFULLY EXAM TO IDENTIFY COVID19 EARLY FOR THESE TYPES OF POOR AMERICANS... I UNDERSTAND NOW... THESES AMERICANS NEED HELP... WE NEED A TACTICAL PLAN IN ALOT OF AREAS, IN MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND TESTING... FROM STATE TO STATE..CITY BY CITY.. COMMUNITY BY COMMUNITY.... ALOT OF AMERICANS MAY BE AT RISK AND THESES AMERICANS WITH THIS TYPE OF CONDITION MUST BE EDUCATED BEFORE SOME OF THE LOCK DOWNS REOPEN.... THESES POOR BABIES.... THEIR AMERICANS... DAMN IT... WHY HAVNT OUR EXPERTS TELL US ABOUT THIS. ???
Im 29 and i been smoking for some years (tobacco) so far im having bad cough throat kinda swollen and chest pain😣...i pray today i can stop...i smoke when im really stressed
Um I’m 15 years old and I’ve never smoked or anything in my life, I was diagnosed a month or two back with asthma, watching this has honestly shocked me, I rarely comment on things but I felt like I needed to say this
I'm 18 and have had chronic bronchitis since I was maybe 2 or 3 years. Got a test done today and turns out that I've got only a 34% lung functionality for an 18 year old. Just like you, this video shocked me
Smoking alone is unlikely to give you COPD by the age of 28. You should be tested to see if you have Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Disease. If you have this genetic condition, smoking, second-hand smoke and air pollution will do far more damage to your lungs than to the lungs of someone without this genetic feature. Also, even if you don't smoke and live in pristine air, every time you have a respiratory infection there will be damage to your alveoli causing emphysema. It is important that you get tested. A weekly infusion of the missing substance taken from blood donations can slow down the progress of your COPD quite dramatically but it is extremely expensive unless it is covered by your health system.
All I can say is that I'm so glad that I have never smoked a day in my life, although I've been exposed to it in the past, but unfortunately, my own mother who smoked from the age of 13 all the way through age 58 suffered from Stage IV COPD & had to be on oxygen therapy, which was pretty difficult to witness! :( She died a year ago at the age of 61, but not through COPD! I tried to get her to stop smoking 10 yrs prior, but she stated to me that she would quit only when she felt like doing so...
Quitting smoking is aboslutely possible and doable, not easy, but possible. I smoked from the age of 13 'till I was 18, ever since I picked a cig for the first time the thought that 4 of my grandpa's 5 siblings had died of cigarrette smoking diseases/illnesses, including emphysema, and how painful those deaths must have been for them, feeling that you can breath less and less with each passing day until you can breath no more must be something truly horrific, like drowning very slowly.... with the help of God and steel self determination I could quit smoking and so can anybody else. Trust me, that effort does pay off in the short, medium and log term. Btw, I also quit drinking alcohol. I quit both vices back in August 2005, the best decision I have ever made, for myself. God bless you all.
Tell him that I was able to quit smoking cold turkey many years ago, by sucking on Hall's mentho-lyptus cough drops. I'm serious. I believe that they decreased my nicotine cravings. It was hard, but I was able to stop.
show him this video and comment.. im 23 y old i sincerely don t know if i have asthma or copd but just to feel suffocating without a medication is hell.. we should do more sport with the right medication and while doing so good eating abit and stop smoking just follow
Motivate him....n try to make him engaged in something always...... make sure that you fight along with him...... Don't say ...hey! Mr y r u smoking?or something... just make him feel for sure that whole family is backing him up...n supportive......n pray n counselling......no Matter hw much u tell him to Stop he won't stop.... Unless he is determined n vowed to be positive n enthusiastic in bringing change in life...... Make him know life is too short to suffer.Have a good relationship with your husband n children...n good family atmosphere... Make him know that He matters very much to the family.. likewise let him also realise that His family is the most important part of his life next to God....may God bless u n Ur family.
Having chest drains sticking out of my body after suffering from another collapsed lung because of the damage smoking caused me has led to me giving up . I had my last cigarette two days before surgery stood out the front of the hospital I could barely inhale anything. I still have a cigarette in my home which I keep as a reminder to myself and others it’s my last cigarette and it’ll never be smoked as I don’t intend to go through the shit I’ve been through again. Tobacco is evil every now and then it calls to me go on smoke me it says I say uh no and I picture all the images of the photos I’ve taken of my time in hospital and that puts me off wanting to light up that cigarette. I hope my mental strength is strong enough to keep this addiction at bay only time will tell. I hope he found a way .
I’ve been smoking weed for 2 years now I don’t know if I should stop or not, I used to cough up black and then stoped. It gets rid of my severe anxiety and stress
Anyone watching this please read about wim hot method, breathing meditation, and carnivore diet. Do not just adopts this thing. I have no clue or medical background to suggest they are good for everyone but I personally experienced huge, unthinkable benefits.
I was diagnosed 6 years ago with copd and was told by a lung specialist life span for me will be either 5 years and if I’m looking after myself 7 years and he said some have even lived up to 11 years. Because I’ve been seeing number 11 randomly everywhere, I think 🤔 it’ll be 11 years and yes PLEASE PEOPLE stop smoking 🚬 I can’t even go to vintage car shows cause they rev their car and the smell of burning 🥵 tyres and exhaust honestly nearly killed me, thank god it was by the ocean 🌊 so I walked as fast as I was able to the sea to breath. The truth not sugar coating as my specialist had put to me was at least I’ll know how I will die, lung failure in my sleep 😴. Well what can I say I’ve died many times before and came back and it’s not that scary and you do go somewhere else nicer than earth 🌏 I just don’t wanna leave my little daughter, not yet 😔💞
I had lung cancer 29 years ago. I quit smoking. I was later diagnosed with COPD. Until recently I noticed no affect from this disease. Recently, something has hit me with a vengeance. I do not know if this is COPD. What does anyone think?
@@huhuhehe4290 yes unfortunately. Good news is the average life expectancy is 5 years, longer with breathing treatments. The bad news, late stage is very bad. The sooner she gets treatment the better in the long run she'll be. However, there is no cure for COPD.
I'm 28 years old, been smoking a pack a day for 13 years. If you're watching this video you need to quit. It sucks, I can't run, I can't play football anymore. The last time I was in a fight I ran out of breath and it took me over five minutes to feel like I caught my breath. Just stay healthy and quit.
i have been diagnosed with COPD stage 4 and my age is 22 but still, i have not felt the symptoms related to the 4th stage copd. I there a possibility that the diagnosis was not carried out correctly?
my borther died on the 2nd January 2018 in calgary from copd, and in to infulancsa b. i am in so much of pain knowing what i coudld have done, only if i knew about it so much as i know now,
Trauma is one of the causes of COPD as it brings on connective tissue disorder ( Lupus ) it’s not just from being a smoker. I’m not a smoker but have had car accident, push bike accident, trauma does this to a person, COPD that is. Pulmonary fibrosis the lungs don’t stress, live in a peaceful environment, try and be around happy positive people, cause of you don’t the lungs will continue to scar. 🙏🏼👼🥰💕
Yes the other issues in the body goes into other deseases also with the stress attached to it all and causes more issues tiering down into other things oxygenation foods and working lung health and diet really can help copd
So I have been trying to quite I been coughing and wheezing and my allergy’s always act up from it so I have a lot of crap in through phlegm drainages from sinuses
Have you been to hospital for any treatments like chest drains from collapsed lungs. If not then it’s potentially not to late for you . Please stop. I’ve taken Photos of all my X-rays and chest drains and all the machines that were connected up to me and whenever I think about smoking I remember all the stuff I had sticking out the side of my chest and and arms and hands and I’ve not had a cigarette since even though they still call to me I’m not going through that again if I can help it .
I was diagnosed with copd recently. X ray cannot itself detect the disease. You have to go back to hospital and ask for spirometry. Anything below 80% of lung capacity is already the disease
My chest is so painful it feels like i am gonna cough blood(but i dont cough at all) been going to clinic and all they give me is antibiotics which don't even work and my body is becoming weaker by day... Anyone who knows what that could be?
I’m 21 and been having problems for about 2 years but only recently been having pain in my right lung constant coughing and air hunger anyone know what it could be?
I m allergic to my hormones. My asthma started with my periods. I have 55% lung function but I believe my Dr. Is not right for me. I have had pneumonia several times. I also suffer from sever form of hypothyroidism.
that's a great decision! Start thinking about when you're ready (with all that's going on in your life) to make this change, and if you feel comfortable let people around you know. It is tough, needs a lot of planning, and you should let people who are encouraging know. even baby steps are still beneficial for your health.
Also, you will be saving money too! Sadly my mom has COPD and it is in the stage where she can't go and shop or do any cleaning in her home. She is mostly skin and bone too. I think she does not have a long time to live anymore. :(
ElizabethBathog I’m so sad 😞 to hear that. I have copd and I always think 🤔 my time will come when I have to part with my daughter and how difficult it will be for her. I know I’ll be in a better place but I never ever want to part with my only child. Im 6 years into this disease and it’s like how long more do I have. Just spend time with her tell her your thoughts and dreams. Sending you both my love 🥰
Blade Woods it has no treatment i beleive brother, but one can avoid the symptoms of it like coughing(which brings thick mucus with it) by not smoking ciggrets or anythng and doing breathing excercises. Post script:- whoevr advocating about smoking does not cause copd then they are wrong. Smoking causes bronchitis which is inflamation of our lung tubes(bronchial tubes) which last for a period of 2-3 months and during this disease, that person cough a lot and produces a lot of mucus, perhaps repeated acute bronchitis disease periods(2-3 months) like these for multiple years(like probably 4-5 years) can cause this copd condition which is gradually irreversible Which ultimatly leads to emphysema which is the most severe form of copd where one loses normal structure. Soo whover who have never smoked then do not ever smoke up and For the people who smoke need to stop That is the only way of reversal of normal function of lungs. Thankyou
I only smoked a handful of times myself a few years ago but when I was a child I lived with my mom and stepdad who smoked atleast a pack a day each they still do smoke atleast a pack of cigarettes a day an d my stepfather has COPD I don't smoke they do and I was exsposed to it for over 20 years and because of it I myself use to get colds all the time now that I'm away from it and no one in our building smokes I only get colds about twice a year where when I lived with them frequent smokers I had a cold every month basically my mom at 53 has got diabetes sleep Apnea a second bladder infection in just 4 months and other problems and infections and yet still smokes 50 ciggerets a day they do no some of the risks of this but I still think they need to learn a bunch more they have problems honestly
I’m 18 and I’ve been smoking since I was 16, I have a lot of the same symptoms of copd. But, since I’m not older, the doctors refused to test me. They said I just have bronchitis. So, I’ve been taking medicine for bronchitis for about three weeks and it hasn’t gotten any better 🙃 so yeah, ya know that scares me.
I am 21 with mild cold going to end my self in 2-3 years, id better die then living like a zombie. There's only blackness after death we have nothing to lose
What about the use of unsterilised equipment during an opperation my problem started after opperation recently the hospital stopped all opperation because of un sterilised equipment , all doctors blame this on smoking i have not smoked sinse 1984 . My opperation was over two and a half years ago i had trouble breathing and and started coughing soon after, the anestatist said sorry and refunded my money ???
I just was diagnosed with small airway disease and stage 2 copd it has been progressing pretty fast said I have 5 years maybe more if lung transplant is possible at that time I smoked since I was 12 I did quit in 2014 but did that by vaping and that really did some damage I’m 45 now and have to tell the people that love me how sick I am and how that is going to hurt them because I can’t hide it anymore if you smoke or vape stop it’s really not worth you don’t want to get this disease
Maybe from dust and fumes anyway you probably have enough at 55, I am 21 with mild COPD I am probably going to live 2-3 years until it's too expensive for me to cover my medication then I'll end my self. I'll live to the fullest for my last few years
@@mywonderland3935 How are you so far? You're about my age. I'm having difficulty breathing recently, was just told I got asthma and bronchi spasms. I was given an inhaler. That's about it.
Have your doctor order spirometer for you. It could be adult onset asthma. Also have a flood test for alpha 1 anti trypsin deficiency. There is treatment. There is no need to give up living. Mild COPD, even moderate COPD can be controlled.
WOOD SMOKE from campfires and woodstoves shuts down my breathing worse than anything. I have COPD. . And yet my neighbors want to hAVE THEIR FIRES. It's killing me. I can't breath right now because my neighbor has a fire 6 feet from my wall. I went out with a hose and there were a bunch of drunks there. It seems to me that only the drunks have camp fires. Has anybody else found this. Of course the Doctors always want to blame COPD on smoking. They blame everything on smoking. The Native people used tobacco as a medicine for asthma, oddly enough. The Docs should ask people with COPD rather than telling them. Docs need to learn how to listen.
In 2017 mostly in winters I started to have pain in lungs. After 6 or 7 months I got x-ray where my homopathy doctor said that my lungs started to produce mucus in excess amount.
This is misleading information, there is no cure for COPD. HOWEVER, your father with treatment will have better quality of life and may live longer. If he smokes he needs to quit.
COPD is increasing worldwide due to smoking and air pollution? But smoking and air pollution have been steadily decreasing worldwide for quite awhile. Something else is going on here.
+om444 You are correct. But the Doctors will never figure it out because they always want to blame everything on smoking. They like to blame the patient. I have 20 IQ points over the average Doctor so I see through all their little games. Doctors need to smarten up. Stop being so lazy, Doctors, and stop acting so superior. You are not. . Many Doctors have poor problem solving abilities. The Medical system rejects feedback.
ok I think it will decrease very soon. it's the older generation (baby boomers) that smoked much much more than younger generations, and these are the people who are all of a sudden now at the age of getting sick. So it's like the society had a build up of smokers before, now they're just old enough to see the bad symptoms show. However, we should be hopeful that as smoking decreases in our society, we expect COPD prevalence to decrease
Mujhe chronic bronchitis thi dr. I don't wanna say I have it but when i was a baby I had lung failure days before I got out of hospital they saved my life I wouldn't be here if the doctor DONT HELP A BABY
Honestly we need more animated vids like this rather than 50 paged textbook describing something tht can be explained in
It's a new age of learning
You said it AJ!
I agree

It’s not too late for you.
Dude, you can’t quit just like that.
Just ask doc about quitting med
My mom has smoked her entire life and has been coughing ever since I can remember. She is still smoking and I have to hear her deathly cough all day. It's really upsetting.
I wish her the best of luck and I hope she makes it! Best of luck.
Sorry to hear that aly take care xx
im 17 too. my stepdad has severe copd. it is horrible. i have called him an ambulance once. he almost died before that (he had b-virus and pneumonia as well). i get so much anxiety from his disease, in the middle of the night he often comes to my room and tells me he cant breathe.
😞♥️
@@geckoz4605 oh that is terrible
I hope he gets well soon. God bless you both ♥️
This is a wonderful website that explains COPD very good for me and anyone to really understand this terrible disease.
♥️😞 God bless
I hope you feel better soon
How are you now?
:(
I’m 38 and have lungs of a 80 year old. I have asthma and copd. I have to stop smoking. My Granny passed away from copd. It was awful seeing her towards the end. You think that would be enough to make me quit right now.
Yes
Do whatever you must to STOP
Hypnosis may be the answer !
I’m sorry but that’s on u for keep smoking u gonna die before your 50 if you don’t stop
Don't worry too much
Crazy Cat Lady I took photos of all my xrays chest drains every could while I was in hospital and when I think about smoking I think of the photos and that puts me off having that cigarette it’s still early days for me after having an operation to remove bits of my lung but those cigarettes still call to me their addiction is pure evil and so far I’ve been able to resist them. I hope in this last year you have found a way to give up if not please try again.
Please suggest exercise and preventive measures for mild copd
Doing the anulom vilom yoga help greatly with mucus problem and breathing problems for atleast 20 minutes a day
I am so glad I quit smoking and weed back when I was 19!
You dont have to smoke to have this disease
I've just found out my mum has mild copd litterly four hour's ago ,she's 62 and has smoked since she was 16 I don't think she knows how serious this is at all and I'm going to urge her to stop asap as she's just become a grandma for the second time 7 weeks ago. I wish anyone with this all the support and help they deserve, I simply came here because I'd no idea what it was .
I hope she was able quit by now.
My dad, 68, got copd 20 years after he quit smoking. Don't think about quitting soon, do it now.

hi haya I'm from syria and I think I have it can you help in any way I feel awful
COPD is a treatable disease. It does require a management strategy for early stages starting with smoking cessation. Combination therapies can be used reduce dyspnea and
improve lung function but might not be possible for patients with long-term declines in FEV1.

I'm 18 and have had chronic bronchitis since I was maybe 2 or 3 years. Got a test done today and turns out that I've got only a 34% lung functionality for an 18 year old. Just like you, this video shocked me
i am 28 yrs old. i have copd. people, stop smoking please.

A weekly infusion of the missing substance taken from blood donations can slow down the progress of your COPD quite dramatically but it is extremely expensive unless it is covered by your health system.
bgdt
cannabis is known to cure it. a former judge who jailed ppl for its use caught it and cure himself of it and now advocates it and educates ppl.
be sure to get a test called alpha1 antitrypsin level-at 28 there is a good chance this may be the cause of your copd
All I can say is that I'm so glad that I have never smoked a day in my life, although I've been exposed to it in the past,
but unfortunately, my own mother who smoked from the age of 13 all the way through age 58 suffered from Stage IV COPD & had to be on oxygen therapy, which was pretty difficult to witness! :(
She died a year ago at the age of 61, but not through COPD! I tried to get her to stop smoking 10 yrs prior, but she stated to me that she would quit only when she felt like doing so...
Sorry to hear that Jackie, life is so short indeed
hi
plz message me I will give some information to you

Same here and I never will
Well done! A very good description which should be an early warning for all smokers!
I have COPD and Diaphragmatic breathing really helps a lot!
God bless you all.
this video was super helpful thank you!
My grandmother has COPD and Asthma. She has smoked about 60 years, I hope that she'd stop smoking.
Can chemo be responsible for lung diseases?
thank you my husband has COPD and Emphysema. still smoking 😗😗😔😒 what to do 😒😒

Tell him that I was able to quit smoking cold turkey many years ago, by sucking on Hall's mentho-lyptus cough drops. I'm serious. I believe that they decreased my nicotine cravings. It was hard, but I was able to stop.

Is there anyone having shortness of breath because of GERD?
I have question over lung disease. can people get chorinc bronchitis and copd without having to smoke 🚬
I’ve been smoking weed for 2 years now I don’t know if I should stop or not, I used to cough up black and then stoped. It gets rid of my severe anxiety and stress
Weed isn't as bad as cigarettes, plus there's ways to ingest it without smoking
Just make brownies. You don't have to smoke.
Can Juuling cause these too?
IceDoe yes two months and I was dis gnoses with stage three copd and emphysema!!STOP!!!

Is this real please tell me cuz my mom has it i dont wanna see her die
@@huhuhehe4290 yes unfortunately. Good news is the average life expectancy is 5 years, longer with breathing treatments. The bad news, late stage is very bad. The sooner she gets treatment the better in the long run she'll be. However, there is no cure for COPD.
Everyone who smokes should stop smoking, its bad for him/her and the others
Aallison K you’re blind if you think smoking is good for you.
I quit smoking tobacco 6 days ago after 16 years of smoking. I quit 18th of August 2019.
Prolet ღ yes but t isnt as easy to just dont smoke
I'm 28 years old, been smoking a pack a day for 13 years. If you're watching this video you need to quit. It sucks, I can't run, I can't play football anymore. The last time I was in a fight I ran out of breath and it took me over five minutes to feel like I caught my breath. Just stay healthy and quit.
Hi, have you felt better after quitting?
How am I going to exercise if I can’t breathe
Right?
You can do mild exercises. Start with breathing excersies and a brisk walk.for 10min. It gets better over time.
i have been diagnosed with COPD stage 4 and my age is 22 but still, i have not felt the symptoms related to the 4th stage copd. I there a possibility that the diagnosis was not carried out correctly?
Yes. Second opinion to confirm. 20 year olds with COPD is hard to believe.

Thanks for this awesome vedio..

I been chewing nicotine gum it’s not seeming to work what else can I do or take?
Have you been to hospital for any treatments like chest drains from collapsed lungs. If not then it’s potentially not to late for you . Please stop. I’ve taken Photos of all my X-rays and chest drains and all the machines that were connected up to me and whenever I think about smoking I remember all the stuff I had sticking out the side of my chest and and arms and hands and I’ve not had a cigarette since even though they still call to me I’m not going through that again if I can help it .
I’m short of breath and had an x-ray of my lungs... my doctor says there’s NO visible problem... what now?
I was diagnosed with copd recently. X ray cannot itself detect the disease. You have to go back to hospital and ask for spirometry. Anything below 80% of lung capacity is already the disease
Thanks TOM... I honestly do think it’s COPD and have Accepted it. I just now need to hear it from the doctors.
How’s it going
How are you? Did you have it?
This is phenomenal!
fighting this now
quit smoking is going to be the hardest for me

I have COPD and asthma but my lung nurse calls it emphasemia
My chest is so painful it feels like i am gonna cough blood(but i dont cough at all) been going to clinic and all they give me is antibiotics which don't even work and my body is becoming weaker by day... Anyone who knows what that could be?
Dimakatso Maloma get an X-ray to see if you have a collapsed lung for starters then go from there
I’m 21 and been having problems for about 2 years but only recently been having pain in my right lung constant coughing and air hunger anyone know what it could be?
Probably bronchitis
How are you now?
I m allergic to my hormones. My asthma started with my periods. I have 55% lung function but I believe my Dr. Is not right for me. I have had pneumonia several times. I also suffer from sever form of hypothyroidism.
Great info video. Thanks.
i think I should quit.
that's a great decision! Start thinking about when you're ready (with all that's going on in your life) to make this change, and if you feel comfortable let people around you know. It is tough, needs a lot of planning, and you should let people who are encouraging know. even baby steps are still beneficial for your health.
*lights up one while reading this*
lol that's okay... any effort will count! :)
Thank you so much. This was a very informative video. Other videos were confusing and did not explain concepts well!
Any stem cell treatments or senescent cell killing therapy?
Thanks so much for this video!
So how do I deal with COPD????
Thankyou
@@syedjaffar953 if u smoke weed can u get COPD
Mr rambo griffen yes although it’s a lot less likely then if you smoke tobacco and generally depends on how long you have been smoking

Good video. Thanks
Praying for a mircle healing
Try healing with your mind command the lungs to heal I am trying it now
I’m 18 and I’ve been smoking since I was 16, I have a lot of the same symptoms of copd. But, since I’m not older, the doctors refused to test me. They said I just have bronchitis. So, I’ve been taking medicine for bronchitis for about three weeks and it hasn’t gotten any better 🙃 so yeah, ya know that scares me.
You most likely don't have COPD. It takes very many years to develop. Your symptoms could be whatever but I doubt it's this :)
I am 21 with mild cold going to end my self in 2-3 years, id better die then living like a zombie. There's only blackness after death we have nothing to lose
Quit smoking. I quit at 2.5 packs a day, thirty some years ago.
It was covid19 😬

What about the use of unsterilised equipment during an opperation my problem started after opperation recently the hospital stopped all opperation because of un sterilised equipment , all doctors blame this on smoking i have not smoked sinse 1984 .
I have it at 55. I never smoked, was never around a smoker, and I live in the country. You never know..... 😞
Blood test not flood test good grief
Docs need to learn how to listen.
bimmjim people are so selfish and they won’t get it unless it happens to them.
Well smoking is the leading cause of COPD and just because the natives did it doesn’t mean it worked.
This is a horrible disease to live with.
I have it too. I am very much bothered by Diesel Exhaust and wood smoke.
fran sandling my mother passed away 2 months ago due to this horrible disease, please don't smoke and may she R.I.P.
In 2017 mostly in winters I started to have pain in lungs. After 6 or 7 months I got x-ray where my homopathy doctor said that my lungs started to produce mucus in excess amount.
And what was the doctor's cure?
Watching this makes me really sad. My dad has copd (emphysema). He doesn't think he will make it another ten years unless he gets a lung transplant.
My parents have it my dad is on stage 3 and I don't know what to do they won't stop smoking :/
The Medical system rejects feedback.
so what explain do you have for causing of COPD ?
smoking is the most common they are often damage the tissues of lungs
ok I think it will decrease very soon. it's the older generation (baby boomers) that smoked much much more than younger generations, and these are the people who are all of a sudden now at the age of getting sick. So it's like the society had a build up of smokers before, now they're just old enough to see the bad symptoms show. However, we should be hopeful that as smoking decreases in our society, we expect COPD prevalence to decrease
Chem trails probably
Don’t forget smoke from cooking fires and work place exposures. I think these will be the biggest causes of COPD in the future.
very good video

You probably have asthma. It is very unlikely for you to have COPD at the age of 19. Unless you smoked your whole life.
Did you find out if you have it
thank you
I quit a year ago. I am still hacking up thick phlegm daily. is this normal. I did smoke for 50 years and do smoke medicinal thc
+Sean Donaghy Consider www.breatheandgo.com as an option, I have been using myself especially when in Hong Kong, loosened mucus etc
Don’t smoke anything at all for starters if it’s medicinal then find another way to consume it
Thank you sir.
I'm 52 and i've got this terrible disease.
