I have repeatedly told others, that I watch crime stories and have realized that with few exceptions, what has been done to me and my children is worse than any true crime I've watched, minus the direct murder, which many a time, I considered easier than continuing to live with the life I'd been delt. Ive rarely, if ever received empathy or compassion from any. I've lost everything- literally everything. My trauma could not be healed by humans. Yet, I have a love, faith, reliance and relationship with God JesusTheChrist that I cherish and would never give up. Praise God for my life.
I come from another spiritual tradition, and am listening to Dr Langberg's lectures now. I am most impressed by her actualization as a Christian. The patterns and structures she describes are present in any high morals environment. I couldn't express very much about the trauma I received, the only thing I could say about it was "my heart was broken". And this lecture cuts so to the heart of it. Bowing.
Thank you, Julie, so much for posting these videos. I have cried through them but they are contributing to my healing. I really appreciate what you do.
“I am so troubled that I cannot speak” (Ps. 77:4) and realize I am not alone. I read the groans of David and hear them echoed in my own heart, “I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping” (Ps. 6:6). And I realize that what God wants most isn’t necessarily a stream of eloquent words, but “a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Ps. 51:17). That is something I can bring. I can bring my broken heart.
This is one of the most encouraging messages I've ever heard. I'm about to listen to it again.❤ While taking in the wonder of God's mercy in going before, all that came to mind was, "Praise God, praise God, praise God!!" Thank you, Julie. Thank you, Dr. Langberg. May God richly bless you both. I pray for those who have been abused in the past and those who are suffering under abuse today. May you find Jesus, our treasure in the dark. ❤
Here is the answer Dr. Langberg: " I told myself: God is going to judge the righteous and the evil alike, because every thing, every action, will happen at its own set time. I CONCLUDED THAT GOD IS TESTING US, TO SHOW US THAT WE ARE NO BETTER THAN ANIMALS. " Ecclesiastes 3:17, 18
I was emotionally and verbally abused (often through the silent treatment, and gaslighting) by my ex-wife. I was also lied about repeatedly (and they were not "little white lies"), and even mocked within the marriage, on a few occasions even for my faith. Unfortunately, I am a man, and if you are a man who gets abused or manipulated or gaslighted in this society (and in our contemporary Church) you are pretty much on your own. There won't be any conferences for you, no matter how badly you were hurt or abused or how much collateral damage was heaped upon your children. It was only once I was outside the marriage that I even began to see how badly I had been manipulated. However, one thing I did learn is that judges, lawyers and social workers are actually quite aware of the abusive power of women as well as men. They are often far more astute at the manipulative power of both sexes. So they often see through what pastors, elders and Christian leaders willfully ignore. I found more fairness and careful judgment, call it "worldly wisdom," in the legal system than in the Church, which is simply naive and, to be honest, intimidated by the culture in which we now reside. It was notable that once my situation got to the court, where truth and falsehood are still considered the basis for the validity of accusations, I won on every single issue. I am grateful at least that Diane refrained from using gendered language here, and referred primarily to "leaders," "speakers," "pastors," "spouses" etc., which could mean both men and women. However, I imagine everyone in the audience is thinking these types of abuse can ONLY be attributed to men. That said, if you are a man who has been abused, lied about and manipulated, I would strongly suggest going directly to a lawyer, and not to waste too much time looking for help in the Church or from Christian counselors. Most likely you will not find any spiritual or emotional solace or support among most churches today, especially Evangelical ones. I know at least four other men in my area who have experienced pretty much the same thing; some whose wives even cheated on them, and their elders could care less. As to grand deceivers like Ravi Zacharias, they make it hard, nearly impossible, for ordinary men to get a fair shake when it comes to more mundane problems within the Church and especially in the home.
I’m sorry this happened to you and pray that God will bring to light what was done to you. Sin is sin no matter what. Thankfully whatever humans ignore will not be ignored by him on that day.
@@Window4503 Thank you, I appreciate your response. My comment is genuine, but I try to it under wraps as much as I can. I'm not a big fan of airing dirty laundry. But this one particular area really upsets me, because it just isn't the case that men don't also wind up getting abused. I'm okay with saying that "in general" men tend to be the source of abuse, but every generalization has its exceptions. Thanks again for "listening."
@@anthonycostello6055Hi Anthony, I came across your comment today and I just wanted to say I really emphasise with you so much. I am a woman who suffered sexual abuse as a child from my father but I do not and have never seen men as the “problem “ Rather, I have found that I am drawn to vulnerable men, as yourself, through my faith in Christ. You are absolutely right in what you have said and it is such a tragedy that boys and men suffer unnoticed at the hands of women (mothers, girlfriends and wives). Men in general are regarded as perpetrators of abuse and women as the victims. But I just wanted you to know that there are women, like myself, out here in the world that hear your voice and truly understand and sympathise. I don’t think that the Church knows how or even wants to address this massive issue affecting our society and men in general these days are getting a pretty raw deal where ever they look for answers. No wonder the suicide rates are climbing every year. My message to you is hold fast dear brother. You have a voice and I have heard you. You are seen and not forgotten. I wish you many blessings brother and hope for the future. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.
Thank you from my heart for Sharing. From someone who is about to finish their Christian Counselling course, who wants to counsel men. Lord bless to you.
@@joelchaplaincare621 Thank you for responding. I hope you can be a light and a strong arm to those men who have been through their own abuse. Especially those who have children, and who love them, and often have them unjustly taken away.
One thing that Diane doesn't mention, and perhaps does not know or understand (maybe she does) is that the writings in the bible in general, and in Isaiah in particular are God speaking to his people, the Israelites, the Jews. It's not a message intended for the entire public, but for his elect. Christians are an extension of Israel (spiritual Israel) so the message is for them as well. The fact is that God controls the entire scope of events on earth for everyone. For those that belong to Him, and those who do not, but He never makes any promise for benefit to those who are not His other than to say that He causes the rains to fall on the wicked and the righteous, so He provides for all humans, but He only has a special relationship, covenant with the people whom He has decided to adopt as His children (Hebrews 12).
I am Jewish and in jewish tradition the prophetic writings are the most univeralistic in our Tenakh. Torah, with its mitzvot *is* particular. But especially the prophetic voice is there to be heard by any human.
The Bible is about God and Mankind, ( Man and woman) and what God has done and purposed, he had a purpose for Man and a purpose for Woman to achieve what he purposed, Dianne would do well to wonder if the high places are not the proud and arrogant, and the low places are the humble and low, and Jesus was sent by God to make to crooked paths and ways straight, as he sent his servant Cyrus to do what God purposed him to do? Perhaps the opening of a straight path out of Egypt for the Israelites has a deeper meaning? Isaiah 45:1 “Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;” Ezekiel 41:23 “And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors.” Ezekiel 41:24 “And the doors had two leaves apiece, two turning leaves; two leaves for the one door, and two leaves for the other door.” Isaiah 45:2 “I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:” Isaiah 42:16 “And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” Isaiah 45:7 “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” John 4:23 “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”
He cares about your abuser too and if you don't fall in line and love them more than yourself and be willing to suffer or YOU will be destined for hell. If you're a believer then you are expendable for the lost one. I don't care if your husband tries to kill you, it is your responsibility to stay and suffer.....I had to....
What a terrible theology. God doesn’t call anyone to stay and be murdered when possible. Even early Christians were told to flee if they were persecuted. Enabling isn’t love. Letting someone treat you poorly because they’re ignoring your status as a fellow image bearer is not love. Yes, Christians are called to suffer, but that’s something God decides and that we’re allowed to escape when possible. You didn’t have to stay. Whoever told you that lied to you. And you shouldn’t be imposing that unbiblical rule on anyone else to justify your own pain.
I would also like to add that following your advice also teaches the children violence and hatred, and will only continue the pain and suffering for generations to come. It is very much a spouse's duty to shine light and truth on the hatred and violence. It's a sickness that can be healed, but not in darkness.
When my life fell apart and I developed PTSD one of Diane’s books really really helped me
