Hey y'all! While my IG is still live, I am no longer active on that page or responding to comments/DMs! To connect with me, feel free to leave a comment only videos OR email me (services.speakfromtheheart@gmail.com).
I have just finished the application process to get my BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders .. I will be doing it online, as I am a single working mom, I was in an abusive marriage with my child's father and I escaped that situation a few years ago. I work with preschoolers with disabilities and that is what lead me to pursue this degree at this time! Your video was super helpful and encouraging - I am nervous and excited for this journey. Look forward to seeing more from you.
I’m so glad I found your channel and that you upload regularly! I’m starting grad school for speech pathology this coming February 🤩 Love seeing your passion shine through as you talk about your career ❤️ All the best !!
Hi Lauren, What advice do you have for me, a single mother of three, 38 years old, undergrad degree in Communications/Marketing, a full time employee- who is looking to become an SLP. I would be starting from scratch. I understand during clinicals I wouldn’t be able to work my job. My job is not in this field at all, so there is no flexibility to work here while doing clinical work. I am the one paying all the bills etc. and my children depend on me for their lifestyle. Any advice you can provide would be so much appreciated. Thank you, Falon, aspiring SLP
CalGirl Fabulous hey! If it’s something you’d like to do, go for it! There are more and more online programs popping up around the country and that may be more flexible for you! Have you done any research on online speech programs?
Hey! Thank you so much for your videos! I am learning so much! Do you have any insight for someone who does not have a bachelor's degree in commucative disorders who is looking to get into the field? I have a bachelor's degree in political science and am wondering if I could complete an online bridge or certificate program for Speech pathology. Would I be able to work as an SLPA after doing this while pursuing a master's degree? I realize the rules vary for each state and am having a hard time finding specific guidelines for what I would need to do to first become an SLPA. Thank you so much for your help!
The use of a stethoscope for cervical auscultation is not evidence based for Dysphagia evaluation. Some SLPs use it to “listen” for any signs of aspiration, but I have never used this in my practice.

Do you need to be good at science ??
I wouldn’t say you “need” to be good at it but science courses are required for ASHA certification! I took biology and physics (basic levels).
In swallowing issues.. Medical speech pathologist use stethoscope

Hi,..
Is medical Marijuana used or prescribed for some patients ?
I have worked with some head and neck cancer patients who have been prescribed medical cannabis for pain management!
Do speech pathologists need stethoscope?
No, I have never used a stethoscope on my practice!
