my tern 2 silver got a lot of scratches any idea how i can buff out the scratches and make it look good again? thinking of using a light sandpaper in a circular motion and a buffer and car polish solution....thanks
Don't use sandpaper it will ruin the corrosion resistance of coating. I have used rubbing compound then wax on them but the scratches are still visible somewhat. That has been my experience.

So that sound is basically the cast control weights onces you add them?
Yes. Once there is line on the reel is quiets some what but if there is no grease in run way it might be a little louder.

Is 500n also good for casting.
Excellent reel for casting small jigs and live bait. Just limited on the line it holds versus a 500.
Do you find that the 600 is a bit to big to cast leaving the 500 as a more comfortable casting reel?
The 600 would be larger for casting but the 600N or a straight 500 do work better for surface iron or poppers.
Is it possible to upgrade my original terns with the new cast control?
No, these are completely different.
